Man, I hope the Slim/Pro versions are going to have the "Sony-sleek™"-look again that this design is missing. Sony can and did do much better. This (to me) looks like some "design" grads from Digipen or something came up with this.

I really dislike that design.
Someone here in the forum posted a picture were it was just black. That looked really great. But this black-white console is really ugly. It looks like it will burst any moment and the white color underlines this.

It looks pretty good. I've never been a fan of glossy plastic like that, though. It looks cheap and you either have to leave it covered in dust or scratch it with even the softest and cleanest microfibre cloth.

That said, as long as I'll be able to play Demon's Souls I'm fine. Now, to figure out where it's gonna go when it arrives.

On one hand I do like how parts of it look, but on the other I think it's too big and weird looking for a console, I don't like that a stand is seemingly required for both configurations. It's a box that just sits in my entertainment centre, why not just make it able to sit flat on it's own.

Sony used to have stellar industrial design teams - the PS2 and the fat/slim PS3s were classy and the original PS was a masterpiece in utilitarian understatement.

But the 5 is just ugly. It looks like something Jane Fonda would wear in that softcore 60s sci-fi flick, Barbarella.

The controller looks great, though.

Even though I have pre-ordered both consoles I have to say, I hate the look of the PS5, it just looks cheap and ridiculous. Especially when you see it from the more unflattering angles they didn't show you in the promo pics. The broad white sides look featureless giving it the impression of some sort of prototype, and the shiny black centre makes it look like a knock-off. Horizontally it looks like its melted and deformed in the sun. Vertically those two prongs of white plastic make it look like an alien wearing a white jacket with turned up collar. Also that stand looks absolutely w@nk.

Next to it the Xbox SX looks small, compact, and tightly designed, well...as long as its not covered in the sweaty smeggy hand-jam of those grubby desperate speed talking YouTubers.

I remember first generation PS3 - that piano gloss black plastic scratched if you looked at it. Hope this is not like that.

Yeah the PS3, Xbox slim and OG Xbox 1 all had that terrible shit.
