PlayStation E3 Experience 2016 Announced (Theaters)

I might ask for the day off and hang out in Chicago until the thing starts. I mean the level of crazy the audience will get is worth it.

Whether a press conference is an "ad" or not, people are clearly entertained by them. You don't look cool or superior by taking a dismissive (and apparently ignorant) stance.

E3 is a huge marketing event. You get to see trailers for stuff that is years away from release, or may never see the light of day (Agent, Fable Legends). I think it's a shame people forget that the whole thing is about cash. Going to group events like the PS Experience is just a cynical way of taking advantage of fans to build some brand loyalty, and I think brand loyalty is one of the most toxic elements of the industry. It's obsessive and works against the interests of consumers.

I know all that is not news to anyone, but I'm not a fan of things like this.

I would go to the Chicago one, but I want to watch all the conferences. I have no doubts the crowd there will be amazing.

What are you even talking about.

Really? You just burst my bubble. Why do you think dubbed and not subtitles?

Just moved to Mexico City and I haven't started my Spanish classes yet.

Because in past years Playstation LatAm has broadcasted a feed with simultaneous Spanish translations. No subtitles. And live subtitles is a really tricky and difficult thing to pull off versus just a voiceover.

I''ll wait for more details... maybe some theaters will broadcast in english, who knows, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Im willing to bet all of them will have live overdubbing.

You are definitely fun at parties, aren't you? The event is free and, as people have already stated, it's entertaining to watch. I guess movies are ads too? I mean, they are promoting the characters and actors after all :/

So why bring the fuckin thread down with your self righteous bullshit? Jesus Christ.

Man it fosters community interaction if anything. No one is forcing these people to go. You sitting at home watching on twitch is literally the same thing.

Them making games is all about cash as well. So do you have an issue with games as well? I'm not seeing your point in all of this.

The E3 Experience is free, and the event itself is first and foremost for press. Not the general public.

You're looking into this way too much.

Well, there will be trailers for stuff coming this fall and early next year too. Or that stuff doesn't count?

It really isn't this serious.

I mean, if you're going to take a hardline cynical stance, that's totally on you, then. At least you clarified, which is fine, but it's still an incredibly negative perspective. I don't think any of us here 'forgets' that E3 is about brand recognition or anything of that sort, but even for those of us who do not get into console war-esque bullshit, it's still an awesome time to let them spend that advertising budget trying to show what they have coming.

And this event is attended by more than just 'playstation loyalists', when I went last year, there were tons of people with their 3DSes in the crowd waiting to get in. It's a lot of fun to feel like a community event to watch the conference that I was going to watch anyway.

My friend went to one last year and he said it was one of the worst circle jerks of rabid fanboys he has ever seen. Anytime anything was shown, he heard people yell "FUCK XBOX", "GET FUCKED XBOX". Shit like that

It's free to attend. If you're concerned about them marketing to their target audience, then I really don't know what to say. Should gaming companies not market their products to potentially-interested consumers?

Anyone from Wisconsin going? Would love to go, but have no one to go with. :X

I might go waiting on my brother to reply, I live like 5 min from the theater. Trying to find what they gave out last year to see if it's worth going. I'm not the type of person to go crazy over announcements so I'm not sure I want to deal with the crowed setting.

Now read this back to yourself, and revel in it's silliness.

It's fun to watch, of course. I love games, and it's how I make my living, but I don't think the emphasis placed on E3 is healthy.

Bah! I'm going to be in Prince Edward Island during E3 this year. Oh well. To all those attending, I hope it's a riot of a good time :)

But not like a literal riot.

Borderline riot.

I live 5 minutes from the theater by me and this type of crowed setting makes me want to chill at home and watch it, going to look up last year's give aways and that will be the deciding factor sadly.

This entire thing is absolutely ridiculous. Why would anybody do this? I'm not going somewhere just to have people rub Vaseline all over the logos on my shirt.

Huh. I've gone the past two years and never heard anything like that at our showing. Good old Omaha Nebraska I guess.

Thanks for the response.

I guess watching it at home isn't so bad. At least I don't have to stay up til 4am this year.

It wasn't like that at all in Toronto last year. The excitement was through the roof but I don't remember any system war stuff.

Hopefully, Sucker Punch have better things to be doing than making a Spiderman game. Telltale Games are working with Marvel for a game this year.

I don't think cinema staff would want to work at 2am.

Hopefully. I mean, sure we all deserve a spidey game as good as the arkham games but by Sucker Punch? Nahh. Not them. I don't believe it will be made by them anyway. It's a pipe dream, and that's all it will ever be.

lol true :P Ahh well haha

Have gone the last two years. Last year was super hype with all the year of dreams stuff everyone left the theater excited. Hope I'll be able to go this year but they changed the Arizona venue to one that's way father away. Kinda lame

Yea I didn't witness that either. While we all waited for the doors to open anybody with a 3ds was asked to battle in pokemon if they had it,talked about the conferences that came before and so on.
