I was in the left side of that same theater. People loved it. It was a fantastic way to experience the reveal.

Thanks!

Yes can't wait for this year's conference and I was on the right side of the theater, but yeah as soon as the feather fell remember how crazy everyone yelled it was a really fun crowd

Dope. Wish they had closer theaters to me though. 30 min drive is not so bad but I'm still too lazy lol.

Edit:
Wear some fucking deodorant people
They should have mandatory deodorant spray stations right at the fucking entrance. No deo, no entry.

I'll be going to the Union Square theater in NYC if I manage to get a ticket this time. I have no idea what I'm getting myself into, but it should at least be interesting.

Lit? Nah nah. Dude next to me start crying when ffvii remake was announced, when a feather dropped everybody scream the last guardian!!! Shenmue 3 dude behind me jumped up and spilled his popcorn on us(he apologized but we were to busy laughing and cheering with him we didn't care) lit is an understatement

At least 3 people jumped out of their seats and shouted "WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!" at Shenmue 3.

The experience was incredible.

The people sitting next to me at my theatre didn't even know what the last
Guardian or shenmue were

"Some Japanese games" lol

Year of dreams indeed. I'll go for the $5 psn credit :D

I guess I will go again this year. The stream has always fucked up each year. $5 psn credit for free is nice though. Plus we get a collectors cup this year!!

It's fun to watch, of course. I love games, and it's how I make my living, but I don't think the emphasis placed on E3 is healthy.

"Healthy". Jesus fucking Christ.

Anyway. I'm so happy this is on again. I was sure it wasn't happening this year since they announced it a whole week earlier the past couple years I think. I almost made a post about it yesterday actually, hahaha.

I would literally watch every fucking conference of E3 in the theater if that were an option. Like Kyle Bosman, I just love watching conferences. The good, the bad, the heart-stoppingly cringeworthy; I love it all. You can be a self-righteous, pretentious buzzkill and bemoan it as a manipulative marketing attack but the simple fact is I love games. I love getting excited for games. I love talking about games. I love complaining about games. If you're a sports fan, you can go to a stadium and immerse yourself in the experience amongst the crowd. If you're just as equally enthusiastic about games, the only comparable mass social experience would be going to PAX or some other fan convention or being a member of the press and attending E3. What this event provides (as someone who has attended the previous two) is the closest possible equivalent. Being a part of a much greater group of individuals, experiencing something in the realm of their interests in tandem. It feels fucking great. Regardless of what you think of the actual content or the people around you--who are sometimes smelly, sometimes jerks, sometimes drunk, sometimes disruptive, sometimes openly fighting (hey Columbus year one, what up).

It's the only experience of it's kind and if you're someone who loves watching conferences, it's something that needs to be experienced.

If you admit its fun to watch then why do you have a problem with people watching in a group on the big screen? Can't you see how that could be fun too for some people?

Being in the theater last year, and going "Holy shit, that's the Last Guardian! Are they seriously fucking opening with the last guardian?"

People around me were like "What the hell?!" and then applauded after the trailer was over. The FFVII remake unveiling earned more than a few "HOLY FUCK!"s, which made it even more entertaining. Can't get moments like that just sitting on my bed.

Yeah... Fuck being a gamer anywhere outside US. Nothing cool like this will ever come to europe :(

Yeah Pittsburgh GAF we up in here!! NeoGAF finally let me post in these boards and my first one will be in this thread. I'm so excited for this. I went the last two years and I'm going again.

As a total Final Fantasy VII fangirl, when I saw that Remake footage live last year, I wanted to cry so bad. Adding Shenmue III and Last Guardian to that experience was something I will never forget.

Bless you based Sony Corporation. You bless me with the gift of Remake. I want more. Give me more Snake!!!

Maybe push Sony to do this during a European expo,

It literally doesn't make sense for Europe.
This happens on a none important day at theaters at a time on said day that isn't great for business(a Monday at 8PM) at only the theaters that have the ability to stream.
They basically throw it up on a screen for free and potentially fill that auditorium.
If even just 10% buy snacks its a good deal for those theaters.

European theaters would need to reopen at like 3am, and pay people to work those 2 hours. At something like 3am it also isn't an easy sale to fill that auditorium.

So that's Nathan Drake, Sackboy, Ratchet & Clank and... I have no idea who that is in the middle.

Any GAF meetups in NYC at Empire 25 or Union Square?

I'm going to RSVP for the Union Square location and am in the process of writing a post about that event in the NYC GAF thread now which if NYC folks who post on the Gaming side only know that it's a wonderful thread for all things about our wondrous city. For instance, did you know that we organize meetups in the Off-Topic session as well as in that thread?

Why has Microsoft not ripped this off?
I'd go sit at a theater all day.

I understand Sony had a huge showing last year but the year before wasn't that big that others couldn't do a theater showing for to match.

LET'S GO! I asked a friend of mine if he wanted to go and he said he wouldn't waste his time going to see something like this. I asked him what would make him go?

"If instead of PlayStation, it was Nintendo. Sony doesn't deserve all of the praise and glory."

I laughed heartily lol.

Gonna see if I can go to the one in Chicago, could be fun. This'll be my first experience if I do go, looking forward to the smell of dudes who don't shower and a lot of shouting over video games lol

Nah, the proportions are way off (it'd have to be a chibi version of her, which wouldn't make sense given Drake isn't in chibi form) and the hair is way off

They're using silhouettes from promotional material. That Drake one is clearly the box/poster art from UC4, and the Aloy one could be from one of those, or a new promotional poster we haven't seen.

Here's a an example:

These are also the faces of major first party games for Playstation, so having Aloy front and center makes even more sense.

Before E3 someone needs to shop this with character gif silhouettes(like Nathan Drake making it rain.)
As it slowly pans through hype stuff like Kratos doing some shit
Guy getting tazered from Syphon Filter

And it ends on

Well whoever it is, I'm sure we can all agree that it's a downright sin that Kat's silhouette isn't featured in the image too. A sin I tell you.

I think the problem is that all of those silhouettes are actual silhouettes that Sony has released. The Drake one for example is obviously from the U4 boxart. There's no silhouette of Aloy that matches that. And like I said, the proportions and hair are way off. If that's intended to be her then they did a bad job of making it clear.

Got me and my buddy same as last year to the same Houston theatre. Already got the E3 day off. I've cleared work time to be there reserving tickets. This gon be good. I don't expect another E3 2015. I just want something nice.
