Ruse and RE5. Mag in a couple of weeks.

move patch for HR comes out in 4 days and will require navicon+movewand

I am glad I got the navigation controller actually. It is a joy to play RE5 with it, I did not find using ds3 with one hand while its resting on your lap thing comfortable at all.

I like that the planet minigolf demo even though listed under ps move section does not support move in the demo.

Congrats to the devs!
Just buy the full version. It's a better game with Move, it feels like it was made for it.

I don't get it either. I held the DS3 in my hand and the Move in my right earlier and it didn't feel all that comfortable. I can only imagine it after some extended use.

I got my Nav controller for $15 though (even though I have no game to use it)...so maybe I'm a little biased lol

How long did it take you to get used to RE5 and the move controls? I watched the Move IGN preview of RE5 and it looked weird :/

My quick impressions

Got the starter pack and extra move controller. The build quality is great and feels comfortable in your hand. Also looks nice with the glowing bulb.. of course I squished it :lol
Calibration is very fast as far I have noticed in the games I tried.

SC: Awesome collection of games. I tried table tennis, gladiator, archery so far and I am left so impressed at the way it tracks every move you make. Those who are saying archery is bogus must not have the right calibration or something is wrong with you. All of these games were very responsive and look pretty decent and play really well with enough depth.

Tumble demo: WOW!!! what the hell that IGN guy was smoking?? ... The 1:1 interaction is insane. The only thing I noticed is that I played better while standing as my cam is on top of the tv and probably have to move it down to play sitting. I will be buying this for sure in the morning. Can some one answer this: is the full version's tracking even better than the demo (I did have some calibration issue)?
For those having problem playing this game try to adjust cam height and also when calibrating keep controller as close to your body as you can.

The Shoot demo: Very fun game. I am hoping tracking will be even better in the final game. My son will love this :)

Time Crisis demo: I think this had the worst tracking. Hopefully it will be much much better when released. They need to fix their shit.

Thats it for now but I have nothing but praise for the hardware and even the games that are already available. I have tried Wii motion and never really liked it because of lack of true 1:1 tracking. But Move has won me over. My sincere hope is that this thing sells millions and we get better and better games. The technology is there, now its up to the devs to use it properly and exploit it. Good job Sony, now get out there so ppl know how good this thing is.

Eyepet demo and Start the Party in the morning with the kids :)

Took me 30 minutes to get used to it and now you cant make me play it with the ds3 ever again.

I am using the "pointer B" setup.

I am looking forward to hearing you guys reaction when you are putting the last piece on a tower you have been building for 40 minutes and it all tumbles down.

:lol

And we have our wii bowling, hv bowling has been patched with move support and it works very well. Aim up your shot with the move tweak shot then do the bowling motion adding spin to it as it leaves your hand, its alot of fun and works well oh and has online play too so one up on wii bowling.

They need to add in new calibration techniques, like foolproof ones. However, I dont know how they would do that...

In any case pointing at the screen without a pointer and then pressing the T button and using that as calibration just isnt a good solution.

its fine for pointer/relative stuff, where you can see a pointer and then move the move to adjust where you're pointing.

but for 1:1 lightgun type stuff it isn't enough IMO. The Shoot demo has you doing that basic calibration, but then it asks you to aim at the top left and bottom right corners of the screen. Thats much more accurate in game (although it did lose calibration a little after some of the special moves)

Dead Space Extraction: Hands-on (and Limbs off) with PlayStation Move
One nice touch is how you twist your wrist 90 degrees to the left or right to flip your Plasma Cutter’s firing plane from horizontal to vertical, which can help you find the ideal angle for snipping off arms, legs, tentacles, and other protrusions of the vile Necromorphs. There are other weapons, of course, including a Rivet Gun and a Force Gun. The “wrist twist” will activate these alternate fire modes as well
Using the PlayStation Move, you fire your current weapon with the T button (aka the trigger). Pressing the Move button activates a quick Telekinesis blast, which you can use to pick up ammo and items hidden throughout the environments — or use to hurl objects at the marauding Necromorphs. It’s your choice! Melee attacks are gesture based: you press and hold Circle, then rapidly slash back and forth to fend off nearby Necromorphs. Melee isn’t much use for inflicting damage, so think of it more as a way to dissuade nearby enemies

I've heard some talk about the Move being best played in a larger space, a living room or rec room. Is this true? My PS3 is in my bedroom, and it's not the largest space in which to move freely. It's no Gahiggidy's lair, but still kinda small.

I brought my PS3 back to my office, tried it out in a more 'desktop-y' way.

It actually worked fine for me at pretty close quarters, sat back just a little bit from the desk. The only problems I had really were with movements that required going 'down' a lot like in the shoot or occasionally in tumble, I guess because the controller may have been going out of sight under the table from the camera's POV. I also had to stand for table tennis in sports champions, and back a bit, but I was surprised how close I was to the monitor (I'll see about measuring the minimum distance I can get). Everything else I played sitting.

I would say the key is to stick to where you are once you've calibrated. If you were to pick it up I'd guess if you did have problems with it you could always take it back if it didn't work to your satisfaction in your environment (?)

I'm a bit on the fence on this one, the thing that bothers me the most is how well it would work with a projector. Does the light from the projector interfere with the move camera and is the camera supposed to be placed under or over the screen? Is there some kind of minimum distance between the controller and the camera?

Just got delivered, unpacking now. Got the charge station with it so I don't have to worry about plugging them into my PS3 whenever I need to charge them. Bit disappointed the Navigation Controller didn't come with a wrist strap as well, I know most of the time it won't need one, but I can see some accidents happening there. Plus I wanted a spare. :P

like how do i caliberate the shoot demo? everyone saying it has good controls but shit is sluggish to me

First time I calibrated it it felt awful. Sluggish like you say...actually, sluggish in one direction and fast in another. It was weird.

I got it right the second time. I guess the only advice I could give is to not over-point. Point toward the target, but I think the more subtle you make that pointing, the more fluid/responsive a cursor you'll get, as it'll then register a smaller motion to get to the top left or bottom right corners.

isnt there supposed to be a reticule there ? or is it a imaginary pointer?

is there any thread on how well the MOVE is selling.. anecdotal incidences.? or some sale numbers from people working in game division or game shops.?

There isn't one there. Whether there should be... :)

It's sort of asking 'point how you think you should have to point in order to hit the top left target'. 'point how you think you should have to point in order to hit the bottom right corner'.

So if you don't want to feel you have to make a lot of movement to get the cursor from one end of the screen to the other (i.e. sluggish), don't over-do your pointing here. This is where you basically tell it how much motion, or how much you should have to orientate the controller in order to get it to move from corner to corner...be as subtle as you want the cursor to end up being.

I think if it assumed the camera was at a center point relative to the TV and did an initial mapping based on that assumption that you could 'correct' with target pointing (along with a reticule on the screen), it might be more intuitive. I dunno, maybe there's more to it than that.

Just tried Move out now and it's awesome. My brother who stopped gaming during the PS1 era walked in on my using it and he was asking what it was because I was holding a pink colored ball. :lol

I told him it was just like the Wii except more accurate and let him try Beat Sketchers and Start the Party demos. He pretty much used Beat Sketchers to try doing graffiti and drawing penguins for some reason. The Start the Party demo with the fly swatting was what got him hooked though. He was pretty impressed with the augmented reality and the z-axis detection and even said he wanted one after he finished playing with it.

The games are pretty fun but I think my favorite thing about using Move is navigating not only the XMB, but the PS Store. It goes so much faster than using a controller it's not even funny. :lol

Finished playing a bit of Flight Control with Move. Rather surprised by how well it controlled. Its really sold me on the idea of a Move based RTS. At least one with smaller groups of units. Not so much SC2 level craziness.

I imagine I'll react the same way as I did with real blocks as a toddler. Playing the demo I'm really quite impressed.

Projector play is not an issue in my case. Works great. My camera is placed under the screen, roughly at or a bit below eye level when I'm sitting on my couch. Every game works fine sitting, some are more fun standing though, but playing standing I also didn't have any major problems (yet, haven't tried all games standing plus I prefer to sit). When I calibrate with my arm stretched out sitting or standing the distance to the cam is probably just about 2 meters, maybe it's even a bit closer. I had some problem once with Sports Champions archery while standing playing with two controllers, but I haven't investigated those. Everything works fine while sitting.
When the room is totally dark while I'm playing, the projector lamp is reduced to a lightsource that is even a bit less bright than the move ball when you calibrate.
You do get a dark (almost black) picture though, which is a problem when you're playing games where you're supposed to see yourself playing (i.e. Start The Party, Eyepet). For those games you might want to let some light into the room through a window, a door or turn on the light.
And of course, depending on where your projector is located you may have trouble playing with multiple persons standing because somebody may block the projection. That's an issue you'd have with the Wii as well though.

Impressions of move and software

+ both controllers feel great in the hand

+ high build quality

+ SQUISHIE!

+ Tumble - wow - the level of precision and immersion really is something else. looking forward to seeing boom blox HD

+ sports champions - bit of a mixed bag, but like how the red light comes on the camera if the orb is out of view. loving disc golf the most but all the games are competent.

+ navigation of the XMB with the move is kinda sexy!

+ i have a big window behind me in my living room and the camera seems to be coping fine in the bright light... so far.

- resi 5.... well the pointer works but the button mapping is horrible. Not a fault of the move of course... it, weirdly, does not feel as good as wii resi 4.

- this is just a slight moan but i did find that, last night playing RE5 in a dark room that waving a bright pink light in my peripheral vision was distracting - kinda broke the immersion a little bit but that could just be the 'new factor'

- let me choose the prefered light colour... it keeps defaulting to luminous pink!!

Still got eye pet to try and the ruse demo.

Overall, based on my first few hours, i'm very happy with Move and the potential is kinda obvious when you see the accuracy in games like Tumble... and i'm very, very excited to play games like Killzone 3 and Resistance 2 with Move... i.e. hardcore games that have had a lot more design time with the controller rather than patch in after the game is finished.

I was was sceptical in the run up to launch, but i actually think it really will be a motion controller for the hardcore as well as the casual now.

IWaggle lighting test. Has a section with a projector at his back.

I think that in most situations, it will turn to a color with high contrast with the background. So you can paint your whole living room in pink and it will choose another color for the ball. :D

I'm having a blast with Sports Championship. Pretty fun.

Although the Table Tennis game gets pretty hard.

Anyone tried Hustle King yet (assuming Move patch is out) ?

Yes, it's quite hard with Move, or i just suck at it :lol But of course it's more realistic. Have to give it another try soon.

Any High Velocity Bowling impressions, anyone?

It works very well, kinda like wii sports bowling but in hd and online.

mh, we should make a thread "Post which color Move chooses for you and what that says about the size of your penis!".

(my Move didn't arrive today, damn it)

So it turns out there is already a charging dock for the move + navigation controller. What a lifesaver. Only £12.91 on the Asda website.

Just saw that my version of High Velocity Bowling (US Version) doesn't support Move and that the Update probably won't be free. WTF, Sony? :(

So I won my first game of Sports Champions table tennis and lost my first game of Racquet Sports tennis :lol

At first glance I'm not sure what's so 'wrong' about Racquet Tennis. It's obviously more Wii Sports-ish and all that, but for that style of game it seems fine.

I just found out that the Move bundle actually has the "Move Sports" game in it. What the fuck Sony Europe? What the FUCK did I pay 80 bucks for here then? A camera and the move controller with 9 demo games that I could've downloaded from the PSN?! ... Wow.
