Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

I've been trying to play RE5 with move/nav for a while. So far, it's just not working for me.

I keep finding my viewpoint going off in weird ways that I never wanted because I have this tendency to keep holding the stick down when I'm moving and then suddenly want to shoot at something. Walking... oh, I want to shoot this guy...press trigger and before I know it I'm looking at the sky. Also seems to happen when I'm slashing as well since as soon as I start slashing if I don't fucking forget to let go of the movement stick I'm looking all over the place except where I want to look.

Now, I never even played RE5 before... because I have a history of just hating resident evil games (and big surprise, it's mostly because I've always found the controls horrible). I was hoping that with move it would be a pick up and go experience but so far it's just frustrating me.

The lack of ammo in the game coupled with the fact that I waste tons of it shooting at the sky and the floor is killing me. It seems that I really need to train myself out of habits from other games just to get anywhere.

Any tips appreciated maybe I'm just doing it all wrong. I've only gotten as far as the dumb blonde tentacle girl and I just don't have the ammo to keep all the zombies away while still hitting her and pelting her legs with bullets doesn't seem to stagger her one bit.

I am considering picking up the bundle.. I do have one question to ask those that have it. Do you feel the Nav controller is needed or are you fine without it? Is it better to get 2 main controllers and skip the nav?

If you plan to play MAG, RE5 or Ruse on day one then you should consider Nav.
Not otherwise.

Ok thanks you answered my question as Ruse is one of the games I am interested in. Have you played Ruse with Move? Good .. bad?

Yes, I was terrified by the Tank Controls going into it, and my fear was realized just like yours... I would be going to shoot, but the end up staring at the sky or ground.

The thing is, you just have to get your mind to separate those too... If you are pulling the trigger to aim, LET GO of the analog stick.

I like to think of it as a light-gun shooter that only turns light-gunny when you pull the trigger... when you aren't holding the trigger you get to position yourself.

EDIT: Just saw this from Zindagi's Twitter; 300,000k in first 10 days: http://gamrfeed.********.com/story/82269/playstation-move-300000-units-sold-in-first-ten-days/

EDIT2: Oops, it's starred out. I don't keep up with website drama, so hope I don't get banned. This is how I got stuck with Junior Status after all :lol

The move sphere is green for MAG.

Damn the pointer is sensitive in MAG, I mean your every freaking move is registered it will take some getting used to. Forearm fatigue will set in. I will practice more tomorrow to get a better, its pretty fast.

I tried MAG with Move controls tonight too. And...man are they going to take getting used to. The aiming itself was spot on, the accuracy you can get is great, but I had problems with character movement. There were times where I found myself looking straight up into the sky because I pointed the Move up a little too far.

I'm not ready to condemn the control scheme because like I said it might just take some getting to used to them, but at this point going into an actual online game would be suicide for me. I agree that it's too sensitive. But then again i didn't mess around with the sensitivity at all, and didn't spend a ton of time playing in the the first place. I'll definitely give it another shot, but it really has a learning curve.

I'm loving it. Well, not so much the game (hate clusterfucky FPS), but the way it controls with the Move. I kill what I expect to be able to kill in a similar situation with a DS3. That's all that matters. Actually, I've only being killed by lag in the last 15 minutes or so (one guy killed me with a "knife headshot" while jumping 8 feet away from me).

And... I just got kicked from my squad members for whatever reason. The fuck? I was team playing and all? They were all from the same clan. Perhaps the just wanted nerd intimacy.

Anyway, feels very good.

I just tried it again, bumped the sensitivity way down and it did feel better. But I still had a lot of trouble adjusting to the feel of moving around. It's the looking around with the pointer that's tripping me up.

Don't get me wrong, there's also moments of brilliance with this control scheme. The accuracy is so much higher now when aiming. I shot and killed 4 guys in a span of 15 seconds, and that's rare for me. But soon after I experienced the whole, "Oh, I'm dead again" thing repeatedly after my mini killing spree. Which is probably more MAG than it is Move. I have that same experience with the DS3 as well. :lol

so what settings are most using here for MAG.....is there a general consensus?

I know different people have different likes....but I'm just curious.

How are you setting the bounding boxes? Are you lowering or increasing their numeric value?

It was interesting that the dev mentioned KZ3 will split the online userbase between move and dualshock owners because one was better then the other but didn't say who.

I'd really like to see a game of dualshocks v. moves.

I'd much rather everyone be in the same games.

I'm just saying I want to see a single match-up. I want to know who really has the advantage.

If move players really do have better control then I would use that with every game that supported it.

Regardless of who has the advantage. . .I still think everyone should be in the same games. If Dualshock is better. . .people have a choice to go back to that. If Move is better . .get Move.

They don't seperate wheel VS dualshock in online racers. Sony should not be pussies about this and just go for it.

Following the news last week that Sony sold around 140,000 units of Move hardware in the first few days, we can reveal that as of the September 25th over 300,000 units have now been sold, around 40% in the Americas and the remainder in EMEAA (Europe, Middle-East, Asia and Africa) - Japan has to wait until October 21st for Move.

Sports Champions (bundled with the Move pack in America and with some hardware packs in Europe) has now sold over 250,000 copies - by far the most successful Move compatible title to date and selling at over an 80% attach rate at this early stage. Sports Champions is clearly the early driver for Move hardware sales although as more software becomes available and new bundles are introduced we expect the attach rate to decrease.

so its very much worldwide sales...

Same problems here in the beginning, but they will grow on you. The walking stick and move problem will go away eventually. Slashing will become second nature too. Just a tiny flick of the wrist is enough, and as a bonus, you can still slash using the button only if you feel the waggle is uncomfortable. EDIT: I too use the Move as a lightgun controller when pressing the trigger, but I also now can easily follow the targets with the stick too. Give a few playtimes to get used to it.

RE5 is a game where you play it over and over again to update the weapons, and thus getting superweapons for use in later playthroughs. Try to save ammo by using the same weapon and gathering ammo for secondary weapons slowly. Giving a sniper to the AI buddy quickly makes him waste those precious bullets. 'Close' and 'Attack' commands via pressing down the O button makes him switch weapons usually.
Pistol and a shotgun is a good choice for the main character. Switch to sniper when the level is wide. Sheva can handle a pistol too and a submachine gun. Upgrading Capacity always makes the clip full, so save reloading before upgrades. EDIT: Replaying chapters for diamonds and bullets is not a bad idea. Pick a level you know and loot/grind

And the best advice. Aim for the head ;)

EDIT: I bought Sport Champions and this multipack of different games is good. Of course I got hooked on the archery in the middle of the night. 2 hours and a sore shoulder later I went to bed as a happy man and one Bronze cup won.
The problem though, currently I only have a 23 inch BenQ as a monitor/TV. Way too small to see well, and I need to play less than a meter away. Other sports are better because they don't require the precision of the archery that much.
Good buy though, so I too recommend as a first game for Move.

I agree. EDIT: but the post I agree with is nowhere in sight. :lol EDIT: It was about the topic below: let Move and DS3 players just play together, and find out which one is best ... They can add at some point who is playing with which, so people can get some feedback - though if you do that perhaps you should also get lag numbers, to be fair ;).

I think I said this before but shooter fans will not allow their gamer egos to be bruised. They will buy PS Move when they find out they are getting their asses head shot up and down the street.

i believe one of the major devs here said DS3 was better for online, but dont quote me on that... i was surprised, i wonder what the actual outcome will be.

Minigolf's no good for me. It's all about motion golfing with my dad, and he'd only be into the proper sport.

Playing Tiger with him was a fucking disaster.

"Tap the Move button to aim, dad"
"The big one on the front"
"No TAP it"
"Quicker"
"Ok. Now aim your shot"
"It's the T button"
"The trigger"
"On the back"
"You have to point it at the screen"
"No, before you press the button."
"Ok, stop."
"Right, tap the Move button"
"Now point at the screen"
"Now press the trigger"
"There, now aim"
"Just point where you want to move the aimer"
"No don't move the controller about. Keep it in the same place and point."
"No, POINT."
"Like this."
"No you weren't, you were moving it about"
"Is that you done aiming?"
"Right, tap the Move button again"
"That it. Now do your swing"
"Stand like you were playing golf and point the controller down."
"Okay, now press the T button and then swing"
"You swung too early. Keep an eye on the screen and wait for it to tell you to swing."
"I don't know. It takes a few seconds. It's bullshit."
"Ok, that's it, you can swing now."
"No, you have to hold the trigger"
"Yes. Try again."
"What's wrong now?"
"Are you pressing the trigger?"
"No, you have to let go of it first."
"Now point it down."
"Press the trigger"
"WAIT. Jesus Christ!"
"Point it down"
"Press the trigger, DON'T SWING. DO NOT SWING"
"Ok, now swing"
"Thank fuck."
"...It's still your shot."

You've just made me burst out very loud in a very quiet office.:lol

Well, they said that there will be a filter option not that it will be split. He also said they are playtesting to see if there is an unfair advantage with one or the other.

Well, what you're experiencing is just how RE5 controls Are. It's not any better with using dual analogs either (actually that one is even worse for me).
That said, I did get a better handle on things as play progressed, like others said, it does improve with practice.

Well control schemes that allow max flexibility tend to come with a learning curve. First time I played an FPS with a mouse I was doing significantly worse then with keyboard too, but that didn't last very long... ;)

This might be a good place to ask.

Anyone here have an opinion of the Sony Bravia HX800 3D TV series sets. There is a little sale at sonystyle, and I was considering getting either the 46" or 55".

I was looking at Samsung and Sony, but the deal they have right now makes me want to go with the Sony.

Go with the Sony one.

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/sony-kdl-40hx803-kdl-46hx803-20100925858.htm

They basically say Sony > Samsung there.

Also, I have tested both myself, and the glasses coming with the Sony one are MUCH better. Not only are they more comfortable, but they don't suffer from the annoying flickering you get in peripheral view.

Well, i treated myself to the official sony move charger today. i thought i would be able to get a short mini USB female to mini USB male and then charge my DS3 with this from the mains also. for anyone else thinking the same it can't be done as the charger doesnt charge via the USB input on the move (it uses the copper plates beside it).

Ah nice. I assume they are easy to pick up. I mean, you don't need to "extract" them from the charger by holding the latter down with the other hand right?

So, separate matches for Move and DS3 on Killzone 3? I wanted to headshot all those DS3 so the industry stop using dual analog for FPSes. :/ And Cna't the Nav controler do gestures too? I don't think is a good idea to use Move for those (In Kz 3).

Cool. I think I might go pick up the 46" bundle this weekend. I think 46" will be enough, as I would probably be no more than 6-10 feet away.

No, it can't do gestures. What actions would you like there? Haven't played mag yet so don't know what they use gestures for.
