Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Is this wishful thinking or a tease?

mh, is anyone else using the PSEye instead of a normal headset? :lol
Due to Move the camera is now always connected to my PS3 so I was too lazy to get my USB or Bluetooth headset.
It's so impressive that it can cancel out the whole game sound and only transfers your voice even though it's right next to the speaker. No feedback loops, breathing noises etc.
Better than my bluetooth one and my friends couldn't tell that I was using the PSEye. It even works with multiple people locally which is awesome for games like LBP.

Though I'm thinking of additionally putting my bluethooth headset on, so I can output the incoming voicechat over it to hear it better.

Could be teasing a patch or a new game.

I love the Move and face buttons on that lightsaber though. Looks awesome.
Could be, but I doubt it, it make it sound like the game is coming out in 2011, so I think its fake.I woud love for the game to get Move support though.

Yeah, i done this just last night. it worked great. The best thing was that i could have headphones on and do voice chat, something that is extremely difficult with a bluetooth headset!

Hey guys. Got my copy of Time Crisis: Razing storm today. It was on sale here since yesterday :D Here are some of my impressions:

I've spent the good part of the last 4 hours on the game and I'm having a blast. The calibration, once set up, works perfectly, even though it is not as smooth as The Shoot. I had some calibration issues with the demo on the starter disc, so that was a relief. I also do not detect any noticeable amounts of latency, so that's good.

As you people probably know, the game consists of 3 lightgun games: Razing Storm, Time crisis 4, and a pirate shooting game. I've only played Razing Storm thus far, but I'll spend some time on the other two games tomorrow. But needless to say, this game is an INCREDIBLE value for money. I'd also like to point out that I DID NOT buy the gun accessory, so I cannot comment on whether the MOVE can work like a GUNCON, but to be honest, with proper calibration, I don't see why it cannot replicate a light gun experience in a sufficiently good manner.

The game starts of by asking which of the 3 shooting games you would like to play, accompanied by, of course, a calibration sequence where you shoot 4 corners, plus the center of the screen. During the calibration process, you don't really need to shoot the corners by looking through an imaginary sight on top of the move. You can simply tilt the controller slightly towards the direction of the target. A smaller tilt means that you need to move the controller less to move the onscreen cursor, and a larger tilt means you will need to move more. It is also important to calibrate the controller from your default playing position (that is with your hand close to your right knee), rather than calibrate using an outstretched hand and then shift your controller to a more comfortable position.

Razing Storm is itself split into two portions: A lightgun shooting mode and an FPS mode. The lightgun shooting mode is simple. You select the number of lives and the difficulty, and you shoot away. The game is not particularly challenging on the default difficulty, and with infinite credits, you'll easily finish it in less than an hour, though of course, as with any arcade game, it is meant to be replayed over and over to get a high score. In Razing storm, your default weapon is a machine gun, and you are expected to spray bullets all over, so it does not demand high accuracy. The game will occasionally throw you shotgun, an rpg, and a sniper rifle to spice things up. You raise a shield with the Move button, and you shoot with the trigger. This is a port of the arcade game, which means the game is not very technologically proficient, but what little is there suffices. What is really funny though, is that your puny shield can block the charging attack of a 100 ton behemoth machine :lol

The game also has an FPS mode. For this portion, you can play with a DS3 only (which is probably not worth spending time on), or you can use a Nav+Move combo, which is the smart thing to do. You'll spend the first 5 minutes fumbling around, and you'll think this portion is complete crap, and to be honest, I almost gave up on it 15 minutes in. But I gave it a chance, and I realized that the game is MUCH better after you mess around with the sensitivity. I turned the camera sensitivity WAY up to turn faster, and reduced the size of the bounding box a few notches. I also recalibrated the MOVE so that the cursor motion requires less tilt. This part is particularly important, because an FPS is not meant to be played like a lightgun game.

And what an improvement it is. Pretty soon, I was rushing about pulling off headshots everywhere, and the game itself pretty much plays itself out like a lightgun game in an FPS setting. This means hordes of brainless enemies popping out at every corner. Don't expect this to be the next COD and it is great fun. There are a couple of kooky weapons, including a harpoon gun, a charge up cannon that shoots out a ball of something, and a remote control missile launcher. This is on top of the more usual granade launchers, machine gun, submachine guns, shotguns and sniper rifles. The harpoon gun and the niper rifle are particularly satisfying. It feels so good to aim with the move, zoom in, and perform a headshot with almost effortless ease. The harpoon gun in particular is really satisfying, because when an enemy is hit with a direct shot, he flies back and is pinned to the nearest wall. I love it when I hit an enemy, pin him to a windmill and see his lifeless body rotate up and down with the blades of the fan. :lol

And that's about all the impressions i have for now. Needless to say, I am very happy with this purchase and will spend more time with the game tomorrow.

thanks for that read. Can you tell us if there is an option to disable the reticle?

Ah well, I did not get the gun accessory so I wans't really looking for that option during my playtime, but I don't remember seeing anything like that. I'll have to check when I have a bit more time with the game tomorrow.

Like I said in the Force Unleashed demo thread, I'm quite sure that's a fake. Whoever did it, forgot to put a registered trademark symbol after Playstation under the PSN logo, neither is there a trademark symbol for the logo itself.

Am I the only one who's wondering if a Move controller like that would work instead of a sphere?

Anyone with Gun attachment impressions?

It almost certainly would not. The Move SDK is set up to look for a glowing sphere, not a glowing line. We can dream, though!

I wish Force UL 2 had MOVE support. Sony should have pushed for it. I hope they at least get it patched after release but I doubt it since its 3rd party. Hopefully this ad really means something in 2011.

Damn it looks sexy!

Welcome to the family. :D

I've been playing EyePet with Move over the last couple of days. Much better than with that card that came with the EU version. Gonna get my little sister to do the singing challenges haha. I had previously duped one of them using my guitar, but it looks like on one of them I'll need to use a keyboard as it needs sustained notes.

I must have looked like a total mentalist playing songs on my guitar to a pet that doesn't exist in order to teach it how to sing. :lol

Haha i used an Android app :) But yes it is far better than with the old magic card :)

Went in to GameStop to check out their used sale. Left with the Eye, Move controller and Tiger Woods 11 for a total of $61. (I also had a $25 gift card and my Edge Card.) Still, not a bad investment...

Didn't MS got a an exclusive deal for a lightsaber game for Natal?

I don't think that on-rails monstrosity is a result of an exclusive deal. That games exclusive. . .but it doesn't stop Sony and Lucasarts kicking that games arse with a little something called movement. :D

you have to give your review of the online play!

Just published the 1st (of 4) part of an huge article listing all the PS Move accessories I could find.

Here is the link
http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2010/10/playstation-move-third-party_17.html

It features guns. Lots of guns
Awesomeness! Super useful for me, didn't know I had so many options. The ones who stand out the most for me are MadCatz's 3D Shot, CTA's Perfect Aim and Icon's Dual Shot for value.
It's a shame that the colours don't match with the promo shots, I really like the blue\orange of the 3D Shot.

Logic3's rifle looks great but doesn't look very comfortable for people without the Navcon, unless it has a cover or something.

Next article will feature more guns?

how's the rumble? Looking forward for more impressions.

Not only that, but how could it have done worse then Sony's expectations if its sold out in so many places. Obviously if they had sales expectations, it'd be based on amount shipped.

No. Those listed in the article are all the guns currently out there (that I could find at least).

Next up will be about "Swords and stuff" ;)

Okay, I just checked and I can confirm that there is no option to turn off the reticle in the PS move configuration.

One cool thing I forgot to mention before is that the they give you a free ps home tshirt when you start up each of the games.

I have yet to try the online play, since there is nobody online yet. This is only to be expected, since the game is not supposed to be out yet in most places. I'd also like to mention that the online play is for the FPS mode in Razing Storm only. The light gun portion only supports local coop. Since then FPS mode is a throwaway part of the title, and it is pretty mediocre in every which way, I'm guessing there won't be much of an online community for this. YOu can upload your hi scores online though.

Interestingly, dead storm pirates require an installation process, but razing storm and time crisis 4 does not. Weird.

I have that, the hand gun with nav attachment at the front?

You can't access all the buttons, especially the face buttons on the move wand, when the trigger is at the back.

The only arrangement that makes sense is to have nav attachment at the back with the trigger. Or like that shot gun where you can access the trigger button at the front.

It's perfectly fine for on-rail shooters tho.

The amount of feedback is strong and in my opinion, pretty good.

I just played deadstorm pirates today. Pretty good game, but maybe just a little too much cheesy pirate stuff :lol . It looks and performs a great deal better than razing storm, but that's not really saying much. You have a golden gun which shoots unlimited ammo, no need for reloading. There is no cover or dodging, so you just hold the trigger and shoot away, basically. Occasionally, you get to shoot cannons to sink ships, and blow enemy cannonballs out of the sky. There are also QTEs to dodge attacks from time to time, and there is at least one section where you get to steer the ship buy turning your move clockwise or anticlockwise. This game is a great deal more challenging than razing storm, but i suspect this is because it is really meant to be played on 2 player coop. In 2 player coop, you can merge the beams for the stronger attack.

Also played a little time crisis 4. But time crisis 4 is just... time crisis 4. It's been released before already (with a guncon), so there really is nothing much to say about it.
BTW, the games all support the GUNCON 4, so if you guys already have that, you're pretty much all set.

Regarding guns I bought two different brands.

One thing I noticed is that the way you hold the Move Wand without a gun shell puts the center of gravity into your palm. That's the most balanced weight in your hand.

The Sony Official gun puts the center of weight just slightly forward and above your hand. It feels pretty good and I prefer it to holding the wand alone for shooting games.

The other gun I bought though puts the move wand "pretty far forward" and the center of gravity of the gun is about 2 inches past my trigger finger. Its not like these guns are heavy or anything but its not comfortable to have the center of gravity of a gun so far forward.

This is a key point to keep in mind. It won't feel natural the way some of these plastic gun holsters are setup if the center of gravity is too far forward.

I got a second Move controller today as well as the navigation controller. They had sold out at Best Buy so I went to Gamestop which only had a couple left. I asked the guy at Best Buy how they've been selling and he says they'll get a batch in and then they're gone while they wait a few days for the next shipment. He says they are selling very well. This is a big Best Buy in west Los Angeles. Same story at Gamestop, they are selling very well. I don't know where Pachter got his estimate from but from my tiny perspective it seems like it's doing really well.

Getting Time Crisis along with the "MOVE Precision Shot". Lack of games right now is a bit sad but I'm surprised at how long Sports Champions is keeping me engaged. I might actually try to Platinum this one. Gladiator Duel with two Moves is really fun and quite strategic.

Too many games for me to play through now though, feel a bit overwhelmed (Reach, Castlevania, MOH, Shank, DR2, Enslaved, Naruto Ninja Storm 2, and soon Vanquish, Time Rising and Star Wars)... Plus I am behind on finishing up Mafia 2, RDR, Limbo. Tough when you work 10 hour days and have a girlfriend.

Is there any use to buying a Nav controller right now? Which games are out supporting it and which will be released soon? I know of KZ3 and Infamous2, but those are relatively far off, anything in the near future?

So... when I put Move down and it doesn't move at all the pointer at the screen still moves a little. What's up with that? Is my Move problematic or does it happen to everyone?

RE5 : gold edition supports it.

I think it depend where you do live. Earth magnetic can't be stable in some place for example DHARMA Initiative Island.

This is normal, see TTP's video on the subject.

I played RE5, MAG and Heavy Rain for several hours/complete playthroughs with the DS3+Move combo and had no problem whatsoever. I actually like putting the Move controller on the side and e.g. navigate menus and the (ingame) XMB with the DS3 in both hands.
In short, I would wait until the Navi is bundled with a game/another Move controller or is significantly cheaper. The Navi is more much ergonomic when hold freely in the air, but there is no game in which you would have to stand while playing with Navi/DS3, so currently the best thing about it is just the better L2 trigger (if you have no real triggers for your DS3).
