Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

picked it up today at kmart. looked like they only had 2 bundles in stock when i bought it and about 5 move controllers. bought the bundle and went to gamestop to use my $30 credit i had there to get an extra controller. it was the last one they had in stock there but i saw at least 4 bundles left at the store. the guys said they didnt really get that many and didnt have many preorders for it

Does anyone know if there are any crazy Japanese only move games on the playstation store? I bought a 40 dollar card for the Japanese store a while back and I haven't spent most of it.

Went to K-Mart and picked up the Sports Champions bundle and Eyepet. Got $35 in coupons which I'll use to get another Move controller. :D

I've just now finished playing through 4/6 SC (table tennis, gladiator, archery, and disc golf) and the Start the Party demo. I am completely impressed with this hardware, it's actually somewhat amazing.

So, I finally went through all the demos available, have my purchase decisions finally made. :)

Sports Champions - as everyone saying its a MUST HAVE title. Great precision, hard to master on highest difficulty, excellent versus experience. Table Tennis and Disk Golf both very, very responsive and also, whats even more surprising, fun. :)

The Shoot - my first shooting experience with Move and a good one at that. I'm especially happy that it can be played while sitting, and you can push the responsivity of the controller as high or as low as you like. So you can jump around if you want, but also you can sit and do only very slight wrist movements - with very satisfying results. Score attacks also addictive and special moves really spice things up. Did not encounter any cursor drifting so far, great old school light gun fun overall, a definitive BUY if you like such games.

Start the Party - only game that all my family (wife and 5yo and 2+yo kids) can enjoy, so a buy for me. Very responsive, no noticable lag at all, but only fun with competition - classic party-only game. So recommended BUY for families, otherwise its get boring pretty fast. :)

TV Superstar - erm. Only good thing so far is a Russian voice over in the game. Pretty hillarious at times. :) Otherwise too complicated for my kids and too stupid for parents. AVOID.

KungFu Rider - omg, this is so bad. This was the first game I tried and I was so dissapointed that I even thought about selling Move for a minute. Excessively complicated and not really responsive controls kill all the enjoyement for otherwise appealing concept. The game would do better with DS3 control and PSN release. AVOID like a plague.

Echochrome II - if you liked first Echochrome - get this one. Move implementation is solid and puzzle are very enjoyable. They also seem to be not so hard as in the first game (fuck you, perspective jump). BUY for puzzle fans.

Beat Sketcher - nothing can be said about it so far. I couldnt produce any interesting tune, and demo has no goals, so pretty pointless. Controls are ok, though interface is as bland as in Antons demos. Work in progress obviously.

Tumble - damn, I need a 3D TV for it to get a better feeling of perspective. Excellent full 3D controls, involving multiplayer. A bit too complicated for my small kids, so I'll wait with purchase a bit, but its really one of the best Move games at launch. BUY.

EyePet - main reason why my family was waiting for the move. Patch to EU version is 2GB, installs as a separate game in the game folder, but to launch it you need a Eyepet disk inside, otherwise its starting in the demo mode.
Well, controlling the game with move made it 10x time more enjoyable. Our previous problem was that original game worked badly in the evenings, since our lamps are not bright enough. Now the game works in the total darkness even (excluding the parts where you must interact without controller, of course.) You can draw, have a couple of new toys so we are satisfied. Unfortunately, no new challenges were added, which is a shame. :p Still we'll play it for another year. Guys in US - this is an excellent Christmas present for your kid between 2 and 10 years, BUY.

Also tried a bit a high velocity bowling after move patch - now its much easier to apply spin on ball, but control of the degree of spin is still hard, maybe it will come with practice.

I am having some serious calibration problems i need some help

1. is it better to have it sitting on top of the tv? or below? i have it right at the bottom of the TV since sony decided not to put a strip of the sticky stuff to allow me to put it on top

2. is it just impossible to sit down while doing it? i tried 100 times and it was never accurate, always calibrated but was awful in accuracy

3. does light matter?

Also i noticed standing or sitting it never really calibrates right, people are all like FUCK YEAH MOVE IS 1:1 OR SUPER CLOSE! and i have yet to experience that due to it not f'n working right, i prefer to sit but i don't mind standing in some games like gladiator i get into that shit hard :lol the first time i calibrated it worked semi good but stopped when i tried to calibrate while sitting.

ALSO where the camera is pointing, where i am sitting is blinds and its pretty bright out so maybe that is blocking one of the tracking balls? its just really annoying that i spent 200$ and it's not working properly

I got my Move bundle with Sports Champions today!

So far, I've only played a few games of Sports Champions, and it's very good and appears to have a fair amount of depth as well. The Move works just as well as recent video demonstrations would indicate. I'll have to crack open the demo disc and give it a try as well.

Loving how sleek the Move and Nav controllers feel. Much more comfy that the Wii remote.

Played a bit of Sports Champions - Archery and Gladiator are loads of fun. The Frisbee game is enjoyable too but can't seem to get the hang of Table Tennis which is a shame as I was looking forward to it due to it being my favourite game in Wii Sports Resort.

Overall though loving both the game and the hardware :)

You get a $25 coupon to use for any gaming purchase for buying the Move package. You get a $10 coupon for buying any move controller.
What he said. You also get $10 for buying select Move titles.

Note that the coupons aren't valid until the 26th though so you can't use them right away.

I was playing Tumble when all of the sudden the PSeye wasnt tracking my controller anymore. Restarted several times and no luck.

I found out the camera drifted to the left slightly due to the heavy cord. So yeah, if you're having calibration problems...be sure to tape down that cord like I'm about to. :p

RE5G is AWESOME!

I love the aiming, although it might be a little too forgiving. I tried out the Gladiator game and it controlled weird, but I'll give it another chance if everyone here is raving about it.

Anyone else notice CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS in the sports game? Fuckin awesome!

For people that want tumble but don't want to pay, I am giving out a copy of it for the US store on my website's twitter account.

I dont see anything. I think I see it now.

As to Move - physical first impressions - bigger than I expected, lighter than I expected, ball is so squishable. I was in the parking lot in my car and gave it a little squeeze, but I looked around first. Then I laughed because it was so silly. :lol

My one piece of advice is when the game tells you to aim at the camera, don't aim directly at the camera. You're meant to aim at the center of the screen for proper calibration. Maybe this is obvious but I've barely slept today so I made this mistake :lol my experience is pretty good though despite mostly only having demos to play.

That's probably by biggest gripe so far :lol

Ouch

So you bastards made me go run out and buy one.

I got Sports Champion and that Racquet Sports shit from Ubisoft.

I only really tried table tennis, volleyball, and gladiator.

I only played the beginning levels of each.

I HATE how there's so much hand holding, so I guess my view isn't as comprehensive as some. But there IS definitely more control there. 1:1? Doesn't feel like it. > Wii? Yes.

That said, I just hope there'll be more games to support this thing. Wii FORCED all devs to use motion controls and I'd hate the market to be segmented into Move/non Move. I also don't want to see Sony forcing companies to put stupid Move functionality into games that don't need it either.

My arm hurts a bit...but I'll give it a bit more time.

Whoops my bad, yeah move titles not move controller. I was getting it mixed up because I was thinking of using the $10 from buying a title on buying a controller.

for table tennis, wait till you get to Silver, Bronze has too much hand holding, Gold is brutal :lol

Play it on harder difficulty levels and see if your opinion doesn't change. :lol

Watching my 6 year old wack a bunch of bugs with a tennis racket on the Start The Party Demo was Priceless.

PlayStation 3 console - $300
PlayStation Eye camera - $40
2 Playstation move controllers - $100
Start the Party - $40

Having a blast with your 6 year old? Priceless.

There are some things money can't buy, for everything else...

Mine get pink or blue depending on game but I haven't seen any other color except when it flashes all kinds of colors at the start of some games.

Flight Control has a nice relaxing orange.

Yes, table tennis and disc golf.

Man, people are really enjoying their Moves. :D

Well, it's like when you first get the Wii or something. Anybody buying this day 1 isn't going to come in here and say it sucks :lol Most of us knew what we were getting.

I love the Table Tennis game. Played a little bit of Gladiator with 2 Moves, pretty impressed with just how it moves so 1:1. Like in the Tumble demo it's amazing you can just ever so slightly twist the controller and it mimics it onscreen. Honestly THIS is what I was expecting out of the Wii. My only problem is getting it to actually be pointing straight when I'm pointing straight. I'll be pointing it directly at the screen and it's pointing down or up from that. I know it's the "feel" of where you point, but I would like it if it was actually straight on pointing.

I just wish Sorcery was out now ... sucks that we have to wait a couple months to get a game that isn't a minigame compilation or that is already out with patched support (loved RE4 but 5 was meh to me and Heavy Rain just isn't my thing).

Is Echocrhrome II available on the US PSN? I was looking for that demo and couldn't find it earlier.

Frisbee Golf and Archery are my 2 favs from SC. Is RE5gold worth getting for the Move support?
it's pretty damn awesome, I haven't played more than 2 levels so I can't say if it's worth a purchase, but for 40 bucks it seems like a good value with all the added content.

I don't think he means it's too easy in terms of opponents, I think he means in terms of actually hitting the ball. This is where I was dissapointed. You can definitely effect the speed you hit it at, but if you even get near it, it's going to hit it for you. I know you can't have absolute 1:1, but it's not really as close as people are proclaiming. That being said I love it, but Ping Pong would definitely be lower on my list.

For instance, when I go to hit a backhand, before I even get to actually swing my backhand, I hit the ball trying to coming across to set up for the backhand.

Just posting, I turned in my Wii and everything for a PS3 320 gig move bundle :lol

How fast one switches! Now I have to get a Wii back later when I have more money, then I will have all three! HAHA!

But I am unboxing and setting up right now, just wanted to let you all know I got the bundle :D

Good on ya, though there are some decent Wii games to be had this Fall. Still, sold mine awhile ago, and I haven't *really* missed it that much. Move can give me my motion gaming fix.

have custom soundtracks been in PS3 games prior to sports champions? I thought it was a huge deal to listen to awesome music and play frisbee golf :D

Yep, the higher difficulties in Sports Champions take away some of the "help" the game gives you. IIRC, for instance, in Archery it takes away the trajectory marker.

Also, make sure you don't have assists on for Table Tennis.

Edit: And on a completely different note, I could stare at the ball cycling through all the colors while Tumble is loading FOREVER.

I wasn't expecting people to say it sucks but I really didn't think people would be this positive, at least not here on gaf. :lol It's good to see that I was wrong. :D

Whoa! ijustine is going crazy for it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2F0PuJRmdw

I'm starting to think Move might have what it takes to trigger positive word of mouth with casuals.

Agreed, and I think it'll only get better through the holidays (releasing this early in the season is actually a bit of a surprise). I imagine that Sony will be putting up more demo stations in stores over the next couple months.

Just got back from best buy with the 320gig move bundle and an extra controller. Wanted to pick up the shoot but was told its not out yet? Also the sales rep tried to sell me a navi controller by saying i couldn't play archery and other games without it:lol
