Just played around with it. Some quick thoughts and impressions:
My room is obviously not as bright as I think it is, because the picture on games where I see myself and when a game shows you the camera's view when it's calibrating is very noisy, so it must be upping the sensor gain to up the exposure - unless the PSeye I got with the bundle is just broken. It seems to track the motion controller fine with the provided picture though.
Played some of the demo of The Shoot. The "smoothness" option really lets you see how filtering will affect the lag of the reticule as you increase it. It's a fun game I suppose, but I'm not a big fan of anything Western-themed, so the fact that they used that level is a pretty big turn-off to me. I'll probably just wait for Time Crisis, though I haven't tried its demo yet.
Also popped in Sports Champions and tried Archery and Table Tennis. The first thing I notice is all the "tips" that say "Stay back 8 feet from your TV". Yeah, well, sorry, I can only get about 7 feet away and that's with pushing the couch up against the credenza on the back wall - so we'll see how it goes.
Wow, Table Tennis is really hard - and I'm talking about the tutorials. Now, this isn't because of Wii Tennis because I've never played it, I'm just going to have to get used to having to move so much to play a game :lol It's obviously very accurate though, almost to the point of frustration for me, but granted I played through the tutorials and quit.
On to Archery, I really liked Archery. I bought an extra Move wand to go with the bundle, so I was using the 2-move control scheme here. When it works, it works great, but it never seems to track the balls the same twice between two shots. For instance, on one shot having my arms level looking right at the TV gets me level with the ground in the game. The next shot, I have to point like a foot above the TV to get level with the ground, or I have to point a foot below the TV. It's very frustrating when you're playing against an opponent.
Now, my PSeye was below the TV for all of this. I've since moved it above and will try it again, so maybe Archery will like the vantage point better. Eyepet will obviously not like the PSeye that high, but I have no plans to buy it, so that's not really an issue. If it doesn't work any better high I'm going to move it back low because my setup just looks better with it down there.
All in all it's fun and when I get some time next week (going to be out of town for the weekend starting tonight) to really put some time into learning the Sports Championship stuff I'm sure it will be even better.
