Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

I just found out that the Move bundle actually has the "Move Sports" game in it. What the fuck Sony Europe? What the FUCK did I pay 80 bucks for here then? A camera and the move controller with 9 demo games that I could've downloaded from the PSN?! ... Wow.

SCEE gave to the option to choose the game you want to keep the hardware price lower.
The Starter Pack is 60€, a Move game is 40€, that's 100€, which is the usual equivalent (1$=1€) of the american price (100$ for the Sports Champions bundle).

It's only £17.99 at amazon, does look better but a charger is a charger so I think I'll stick with the cheap one.

That's the one I went for, can't compare to the cheaper one, but it definitely seems worth £18. It's a very compact and looks amazing. Plus charges great too, real quick. So much easier to have my Move stuff done via mains.

I think there's either something wrong with my living room setup, camera, or Move because I'm just not getting the same experience you guys are. I'm having trouble getting it to recognize certain motions and the movement in my Sports Champion games is all jerky.

Edit: Played Sports Champion again for another hour this morning and there's definitely something wrong with my setup or something. Can't trigger shield bashes consistently in Gladiator and the paddle is bouncing all over in Table Tennis. Tried the Tumble demo and it took me forever to finagle the Move through the rings and stuff in the Tutorial stage.

How does everyone else have their camera set up? The Playstation Eye cable is too short to put above my TV and run behind my entertainment center so I've got it right below the TV and pointing up. Could that be my problem?

You're getting it cheaper in Europe than the (non existing) equivalent in the US.
$ transfers to the same amount in Euro in every other gaming instance. If Sony did include SC and had the prices stay as usual you would pay 99euro for a SC combo. In relative worth (locally) Europe is getting the Move the cheapest.

Wow. I turned off all TV filters on Wednesday and got pleasing cursor responsiveness.
I however discovered the AV mode button today and kept pressing until I got Game mode.
Aiming feels practically like laser pointer responsiveness now.

Turning off all the filters manually in your TV set does not necessary mean gamemode.

Heh. Here in Australia we got the demo pack, though I paid less than the price of a dual shock so I'm not complaining much. Oddly the Move controller on its own is only $10 less than the bundle.

I can't get the calibration in Sports champions to work while sitting. :( Any help?

Just cheat. You don't have to hold the controller at the shoulder level for example. If it's better for your calibration box, just hold it at the top of your head or lower than the shoulder, whatever works for you.
The most (only ?) important thing seems to be that the three calibration points are reasonably spaced. If they're too close it won't work and give you an error message. Try to find three spots that are somehow in or close to the required regions and use those, then you can see if the game works for you. Usually it works fine for me. Some games are more fun while standing though, but usually they play just as good while you sit as well.

eyepet: move is really starting to annoy me. The 'touch the floor' calibration is just rubbish. Seems it wants the 'floor' to be almost the centre of the camera. I ended up having to move the camera to below the TV and point it down a lot to get it right. Could have done with some guidance, all it does is sit there blinking, saying 'are you sure you're touching the floor?' Of course I'm sure you stupid twat.

lmao. I am on the 4th floor. I was trying to touch the floor but it wasn't working so I decided to go all the way on the ground floor where the dirt are bang it works. I guess the move has a sensor for dirt. :lol :lol

eyepet works best if you have the camera under your TV and pointing as far down as possible.

at least that's how it is with the regular version of eyepet. i would assume the same for the move version too.

okay as an owner of a wii and DSE, I couldn't play it long because the graphics even with component cable was a judderly mess... and that above looks so much better. Couple that its a freebie with DS2 (which I was gonnna get anyhow)... :D

Dead Space: Extraction will ship on the Dead Space 2: Limited Edition Blu-ray disc on January 25th, and will be available separately as a PSN download.

:)

This might sound like a dumb question.....

but will Move work with a projector setup or home theater setup where the room is dark or darker? Same question about Kinect.

I have my PS3/360 hooked up to a projector. Its not anything fancy but the room is pretty dark and I usually play in the evening anyhow. Also the ps3 and the 360 are not in front of me byt behind me where the projector sits on the shelf, so in case of move I would have to run the camera around to the front? How long is the cable? Since its USB can I just use a USB extender cable for that?

Does anyone know if there is even a point in getting Move or Kinect in Nov if you have a projctor setup?

I have massive calbration issues with all games. Tumble works best, but even this isn't spot on. The Shoot doesn't work at all. So far I'm quite disapointed. Thought that would be more of a plug and play thing, but it seems like you have to try around with it each time till it works. This is annoying.

Where is your Playstation Eye located? IIRC it should be as close to shoulder level as possible, so don't put it at the bottom of your TV if the top of the TV is closer to your shoulder level.

Picked up Sports Champions Move Bundle and 1 extra Move controller today. Bought RUSE and Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition as well for good measure.
Overall first impression is that the motion tracking is accurate and controller use is pretty intuitive.
Quite shocking really; in this age of unremitting hype, that something would actually work as advertised.

I find it weird that Hustle Kings doesn't have an option for using 2 Moves. It doesn't feel right to just use the one for the cue, while your other hand is doing nothing (in r/l you're holding the stick with both hands, obviously).

try playing at night and see if it gets better. If it does, the room you're in + Lighting conditions is probably why. That said, my tv's 52 inch, I stand about 2 metres in front of it and its about 500mm off the ground on my entertainment cabinet and I've got zero issues.

when I'm on the couch, I'm about 3 meters away and seated and it works perfectly too.

Review update, a few new Sports Champions reviews, one new KFR review, and one new Racquet Sports review (which now gets a Metacritic average)

Reviews:
Sports Champions - 75 average, 30 reviews
EyePet Move Edition - 69 average, 9 reviews
Flight Control HD - 2 reviews, no Metacritic average yet because they wait for 4 reviews, math average is 80
Tumble - 69 average, 9 reviews
Start the Party - 55 average, 22 reviews
Racquet Sports - 54 average, 4 reviews
Kung Fu Rider - 36 average, 20 reviews

Still nothing for The Shoot / TV Superstars / Singstar Dance / etc. With Kung Fu Rider's newest review, it cracks the bottom ten PS3 games of all time and is the 8th worst retail release on PS3.

I updated the OP as well to reflect these.

Why does the orb on Move always default to pink? This makes me sad. :(

I think it just happens that in a lot of typical environments, pink happens to be a very stand-out colour.

I've had pink quite a lot. Although I got a nice blue once playing Racquet Sports (the room was a little bit darker then).

Beach Volleyball is mad fun. Amazing how you can jump and spike and it tracks your movements perfectly, no lag whatsoever.

So is night time the preferrable lighting condition? Sounds weird that so many people are having issues with accuracy while others are amazed and having no problems at all....

I was in Cambridge earlier picking up Kingdom Hearts BBS and not one shop had a demo station for Move, it's like Sony want Move to fail. Usually Cambridge has a very large PlayStation presence in the shops, but you'd be hard pressed to figure out that Sony just launched a product.

indeed my wife loves to play with me, screaming at me for a wrong setup toss :lol

Sports champion is fun but it could have really used a few more games. Would have been nice to have ten pin bowling, basketball and tennis.

Sony needs to pull its head out of its butt and offer this bundle! Grr!

Doesn´t really make sense since SC doesn´t require the sub-controller.

But a game with just a move controller would have fitted me perfect, but I can see why they don´t since there are so many stupid consumers that would buy the bundles and get angry when they get home and find out that they also need a PSEye.

But bundling SOCOM and KZ3 with a subcontroller could work.

Anything except very bright should work fine.

I'm playing it with a monitor right in front of a large window. With the blind half way down. It's fine, but I imagine on a sunny day with the blind up you might have problems.

+1. I already have the PS3eye. A bundle of sports champs, the nav, and the move controller for 99.99 would get my money.

Seems like a lot of you got Move. But wait, Kotaku said the midnight launch was empty. I'm confused :D

I've found it helps if you touch the floor then pull the controller up until you see the sparkles. Has worked for me every time.
