Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Does anyone know how many of the games out now take advantage of having two move controllers for a single player input control? It seems like Sports Champions supports it, does anything else?

The Fight does and that's it I think.

I hate the opponents on table tennis at silver level who use the weakest shot possible so that it lands just inside your net.

I never catch it and it always ends up in the net. :(

hmmm, all of these calibration issues are a bit disconcerting. I also had some issues with SC this afternoon with the archery, i would draw the arrow back and the bow would suddenly jump over to the extreme left or right. i had to turn the game off after a couple of re-calibrations. i still don't know why it was happening (the room was reasonably bright but nothing extreme). and there was one or two issues last night too.

If we're struggling (neogaffers) what chance does the average Joe have? I hope this doesn't become an issue with move...

I think the documentation and troubleshooting could be better. If something simple like moving the PS Eye above the screen can fix all my problems, it ought to be written down somewhere. Also, all the games that say "1 metre from the PS Eye" are wrong.

The calibration in the XMB could also be better (and should preferably take precedence over some of the individual game calibrations). Perhaps pointing at boxes on the screen instead of rotating the controller all over the place would improve it.

I've learned to expect these shots to a degree, and move in to get the ball but its still pretty damn hard and fun.

He bought a full priced DISPLAY CASE from GS. Can't you FEEL there is no game in there. Seriously, wtf?!

:lol :lol :lol
Maybe it was one of many games he bought which were shoved into a bag and it wasn't apparent it was empty until he started opening them?

For someone who hates this guy so much, you sure seem infatuated with him.

Is it just me or are the move wands huge?

A combination of both would be perfect, just like in Flight Control HD stage selection.

But I see why Sony hasn't introduced a pointer yet in the cross media bar. For that to work, you'd need to calibrate first (point the controller towards the screen so that gyros knows what the horizontal "0" data is), every time you turn on the system actually. I don't think this would be a big deal tho. It would actually end up being useful for games that ask for the same kind of calibration as they can just rely on the data gathered during the system start up calibration process.

Don't you have to bring it up to them at the counter yourself? Sorry, I hate GS and don't shop there much/if at all so sorry if I'm wrong.

For those who completed the Time Crisis: Razing Storm demo. How was it and how were the controls?

It's effectively free at the regular bundle price point too.....camera + move costs $90 purchased separately. Also that bundle makes no sense. You need the camera to play at all.
Many of us already own the camera.

It was so bad I couldn't even complete the demo. Really bad calibration problems. I thought it was just me and my setup, but everyone else seems to be having similar problems with it. Which is unfortunate, because the Time Crisis package looked like it was going to be one of the more promising Move launch titles.

My plan was to trade in my old camera towards the bundle, getting at least 10 bucks off the $99 selling price. Thus getting the Move, demo disc, new camera, and Sports Champions for about what it would have cost to get a Move controller + game anyway. Problem was, I forgot to bring it with me to the store when I bought it. :lol

But it was a good plan.

wow that guy was annoying. The game looks like a next gen version of that Nick Arcade shit.

Wow, I was trying to remember what show where I saw that same style before. This is exactly what I was thinking.

But did you see how many trophies he collected in such a short time...that was nuts!:lol

Cool. I'm glad I didn't waste the 2GB's then in downloading it. Yeah, it looked really lame.

what 2GB downloading? is it on a PSN store somewhere? I'd like to try it out at least.

don't care if it looks like a PS2 game - the arcade games were never graphically fantastic. but the comments about dodgy calibration are worrying.

What are the consequences of those "really bad calibration problems"? How do those translate into gameplay affecting issues?

I have problems myself making it so that the cursor appears exactly where the Move is pointing at, but this is hardly an issue in-game as all I do is look at the pointer as I shoot from the hip.

Do you perhaps attempt to play it as you are holding a real light gun? I mean, do you actually try to aim using the Move as an ironsights of sorts?

Me too. But I didn't think it was on any store (?)

Hopefully they will put up a demo. I was going to definitely get it, before at least.

So, how's the pointer?

Seems very software-dependent. I've only tried it in RE5 so far, but it's not that great there. In RE5, the pointer has to center (re-calibrate) itself upon pressing the trigger. For example, if the reticle is pointing at the corner of the screen and you let go of the trigger, keep your aim in the same spot, and then pull it again, the reticle pops up in the center even though you are still pointing at the corner. I was able to adjust and shoot accurately with it, but it just isn't as precise as the Wii pointer. Maybe it will work better in other games.

The opposite could be said for Move's motion control, which is sublime and a definite improvement over Wii M+. I've only played a little of table tennis and gladiator (Sports Champions) but that aspect of Move is as good as advertised. Sports Champions is a ton of fun. I can definitely see SC being a big hit with my friends. If you like Wii Sports or WSR at all it's worth checking out.

Also, the DS3 works pretty well as a substitute for the Move-chuck. I didn't think it would but it's not bad. I'll probably return my unopened 'chuck and put the money towards a second motion controller.

I was playing co-op last night and it took us 15 minutes to get our tower perfect...then he accidentally grabs the middle block and... ;_;

Ok, I'm totally going to bite and buy Flight Controller HD on the euro store.

don't you think if you select a block already in the tower, it should move your pointer to the block, rather than yankign the block out - often screwing your tower up in the process?

How is Flight control for those that have played the ipod touch version and ipad version? I liked the ipod version a lot, but thought the ipad version was a little bland - the increased size of the playing area made it less fun to play for some reason.

Don't you have to download it off the demo disc onto your HDD? I think the file size was a little over 2GB's from a stream I saw on Justin.tv (didn't want to open it after that as you can't quit the install once it's started and their is no background downloading which is lame).

Well also, I kept losing the pointer on screen. It would go off to the right or down and I'd keep losing it. I only played the demo once so maybe my setup wasn't optimal. I'll try it again later.

Cool. I'll make a video meanwhile so that people can at least see how it looks. :)

Hm. I hope the pointer controls indeed improve in the future with more development. Since it is what I am more interested for. Move FPS don't start rolling until Feb 2010, right? (Well, other than MaG Beta).

Is Flight Control HD any good? I have £20 of PSN credit to spend and was wanting more Move games.

I think I will probably get Echochome II as well and rent Sports Champions and The Shoot.

Absolutely do get Flight Control HD. I think it has the best Move pointing implementation yet. Did you check my vid?

Say what you want about the bloke but i'm sold on the game now, will probably buy it, cause I can see some people having his reaction (without the swearing). Seemed like he was having fun.

I actually want to buy this and Eye pet now too especially since TRU is giving $10 gift cards for both games this week. I do want a second controller first though. I love how the eye "changed" his move into different objects needed for each task. It looks like a very inventive use of the tech. I was very impressed.

Ah, so that's what 'download' means... :)

I hope they put it up on the store soon. I don't have a starter disc, just got the controller on its own.

To comment on Time Crisis, I played through it with my GF and had absolutely no calibration problems whatsoever. Everything was spot on. That being said the game was a mess. i mean the graphics were horrible, but I could get past that, it was just the ridiculous spamming going on. Just automatic weapons and spamming it all over the screen. It felt incredibly rushed.

Thank you for posting this. I was concerned that Time Crisis would turn out to be like this. :/

Not sure if want now...

I really like it. Took 30 minutes to get used to but now I cant play it with the ds3.

Does anybody need re5 coop buddies by the way? add me up please. PSN: keyframe007

I was just about to make a video from the demo but I think it'll be better if I wait for the full thing cos I want to check the FPS story mode as well.

Also, my "portable sun" lamp just died so I can't film my hands with proper lighting :/

I wish there was a trophy in Sport Champions for winning against all of the opponents in free mode on the hardest settings. Now that would be brutal achievement. :)

damn it, this Move stuff is getting expensive :lol

Was playing Tumble 2 player with a friend.

Choose small tournament, three game modes after each other.

First game was Stack them up, tear it down (or something similar).

We actually played it for well over an hour. We hit the top of the game area (camera won't move further up) at about the 30-40minute mark and had to build outwards. Super tense.
The tower actually did not tumble, I ended up winning 490 vs 430 (not sure why the game ended when it did though I guess he lost one block but we both did that occasionally).

I think they mislabeled the genre. It's a horror title. Very tense.

After that hour++ we opted out of the tournament. Was a bit drained.

Horribly off-topic, but there's a tabletop zombie themed RPG game called Dread that uses a Jenga tower instead of dice rolls to determine when a player dies. It was mentioned in a PAX panel that discussed how the tension of the gameplay matches the theme of the game.

Picked up the Sports Champions bundle this morning at Kmart for my $25 coupon. Guy there said they only got two of everything ($400 bundle, $100 bundle, controller, navs and chargers).

I got the last SC bundle and I wanted to get another move but they were out.

Spent the better part of the last three hours trying bocce, disc golf, gladiator, and table tennis. I have not tried archery or volleyball yet. I have to take a break because my arm is starting to get really sore. I've had an incredible amount of fun with these so far. Table tennis and gladiator are tied for my favorite. Bocce and disc golf are great too but not in the same amazing way that gladiator and table tennis work. I'll be spending a lot more hours with this game. I wish the leaderboards were up and I'm really curious about what the "Add-on content" means on the back of the box.

I love the fact that it feels real and fun. As opposed to my time with my parent's Wii which was certainly fun but ultimately shallow. Never touched a Wii M+ before so no basis for comparison. I always thought I'd buy a Wii when it got down to be a $100 but between my GC backlog and Move, I don't think I'll ever have to.

I'm looking forward to good Wii games getting ported over. Also looking forward to trying more of the SC sports and the demos that came on the disk. Really excited about trying tumble.

I'm kind of surprised about Time Crisis because I played Razing Storm in the arcade a ton of times and found it really good. The game should basically be the same thing, but at home (unless you the arcade mode wasn't playable in the demo). I may try other control schemes for the game because I still have my lightgun from TC4.

Very easy to pull off headshots but the stuck to the floor while aiming mechanic feels very dated now :(

i myself have not had any problems with the archery but my wife would have the same issues you described and it was because she had her aim way too high when she started to pull the arrow back that i think the camera lost track of the sphere. after she made the adjustment and started the initial aim lower she hasn't had any problems
