Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Dont be so childish mr fanboy.
SC is a party game meant to bring in the casuals so while GAFers may get the hang of very quick calibration the non-gamers, who make up a decent portion of the target audience, will not.

A non-gamer playing games? Why would they target non-gamers?

Does anyone have any feedback on Lord of the Rings Aragorn's Quest?

Phone one of the local game stores and they're getting Move's in tomorrow, will see if I can pick up a pair and a NavCon.

Money? Targeting a non-gamer creates a gamer if they enjoy it. But I know you're trying to poke fun at semantics but what he said was right. The point of these types of controls is specifically to target non-gamers and make them into gamers.

I'm really thinking of holding off on the Move until some real killer software comes out. I'm a Wii owner so the novelty of playing with IR or motion controls just isn't there for me to jump in yet. Also I'm not really big on Augmented Reality (I probably would be if I had kids though).

That said is there any software that is really compelling enough to jump in yet? I'm not really seeing it but if someone who has Move can give me some insight I may be able to bite now (rather than later)

It's not annoying at all, unless you're seriously expecting it to point where you're aiming, in which case no Move game does that, at all.
Actually the Shoot does just that, and it's working great. I'm pretty sure the Dead Space Extraction does it too.

Planet Minigolf; Has anyone tried this out yet with Move or is there a patch for it yet?

I wish I could enjoy my Move games and Nav system, but Newegg has yet to still even process my order to ship. Retarded!!

Same here. I want to know about that game. Particualry since there is some DLC coming soon and the demo was pretty good.

I am seeing very little promotion for Move in store at least here in the US. Is Sony waiting until November to do advertising blitz? My local store doesn't even have poster or windows cling to announce it. Best Buy have one table set up with PS3/Move bundle system on a table and a few games which of course overshadow by the Halo Reach posters, sign and pile of games boxes and all thing Halo related.

Any idea how long does the battery last on the move controller? i was able to play for like 3 hours yesterday with the factory charge which was awesome. It's my wife birthday today so we're gonna have some friends over, too bad stand alone controlles are not available here but it's be fun to see their reaction to it.

The Shoot is a massive turd. Found the calibration to be nearly impossible no matter what I did, it was always all over the place and the game itself is terrible.

looks like John Daly is a better Move golf game

UGDB: Your first big announcement with this title was the addition of the PlayStation Move controller functionality; can you explain for us how John Daly’s ProStroke Golf will take advantage of the Move’s capabilities? Will players be able to play easily with a standard SixAxis/Dualshock Controller?

Derek Hartin: The Move controller is a totally different experience to using a regular controller. How do we take advantage of its capabilities? Simple: we let you swing it like a golf club. It’s direct control and at a level of precision that just hasn’t been available on a motion controller before. If you’ve got a particular tendency on your swing, like a draw or a fade, you’ll see it translated into the game. We’ve had such positive feedback about the Move implementation that we’re confident that users are going to enjoy it.

Calibrated first try and it was headshot city.

Already preordered.

Something funky is going on on your side.

I think around 6-8 hours like the ds3.

Right, but thats a full retail, real golf game. Minigolf has crazy holes and quick fun games.

What did you do to calibrate so well? I've tried aiming like it was a lightgun game, down on my lap, tried re-centering the reticule after calibration, even going through the menus is a struggle.

I don't think I did anything consciously. I just casually aimed where they said to. What's odd is my cam is technically under my set but in my setup that puts the cam at waist level.

For The Shoot I was sitting, almost laying, on the couch.

Is the official gun shell readily available? Didn't see it in Any of the local stores? Anyone tried it with The Shoot yet?

wow we almost have the same set-up, my thinking was it was more comfortable sitting down playing the Shoot, on the calibratino screen is just pointed at the corners on where i see myself on the small screen

if you at all liked wii sports/resort, then you'd love this.

Yeah I'm sitting down as well, I'll move the camera onto my TV stand instead of on top and see if that helps. Thanx.

The Shoot's shooting works decently well (though the cursor tends to drift, I wish they'd use whatever magic Sports Champions and Start the Party used to fix that), but the motion controls are awful. Spinning around to activate slow mo, seriously? And to do the low dodge, I have to practically set the controller on the ground.

I really can't think of what you have done to not calibrate it correctly. It was very easy and it was like having a lightgun after. Game is fun enough, nothing to write home about, but the pointer implementation is just about perfect in it.

From the moment I started playing it I could aim with total precision, just like others above said. I reminded myself of that wii duck hunt YouTube video :D

You must be having some problems or doing something wrong. I calibrated the first time and it works pretty well for a demo build. I am hoping they will improve it further when it gets released. And the game is fun too :)

THe problem with the Shoot for me was that the first time I tried it the crosshair was missing! It was impossible to play it that way.

I had the same problem, it was still fun to play without the crosshair though :D

Just a heads up someone in this thread pages back said that they already owned the game but hated playing with the DS3. He did not play it again until he bought the Move controller and now loves the game, apparently he says it feels like the game was meant for Move.

I said something similar... I tried the Demo and avoided picking it up due to the controls.

But I got it Friday, and the Move implementation works exactly how I'd expect it to (with no calibration!)... But I have to say I only played a few holes before I wanted to get back into SC and Tumble, no particular problems with it, just wasn't as compelling as those titles. I will definitely get back to it down the road.

I had a "durr" moment with the calibration. Once I actually aimed properly at the targets (first upper left, then bottom right) at the calibration screen it worked great and the cursor was exactly where I was aiming.

I didn't really like the game, but I will definitely buy Time Crisis.

It doesn't have to point where I'm aiming, but it definitely helps sporting a consistent behaviour, IMHO.

RE5 Move doesn't allow that, by design.

Zombies won't wait for you to think, I'm afraid.

I don't think it's ideal, not with this kind of controller at least (as I said it's not consistent, unless you are able to put the Move in the exactly same position all of the time, which is like... very hard), and not having the pointer always on screen isn't helping, too, at least for a player used to RE4 Wii version.

But if you're enjoying it anyway, fine. I just can't help but wondering why the hell Capcom ruined its own control scheme.

I just can't agree with any of this.

The point is, no matter WHERE your move controller is, the amount of distance required to travel from the center to any point on the screen is ALWAYS the same. Muscle memory should be kicking in here, hence, there is absolutely NO REASON to keep the Move controller pointed at the exact center of the screen at all.

I just can't fathom anyone having any difficulty with this at all. Do you have problems with a mouse on a PC? Obviously you have limited space on a mouse pad, so you bring it back, obviously not exactly to the center each time. It's the same type of muscle memory. You know that moving your hand at x speed for y distance will place the cursor at position z. The same applies for Move. You *should* know that moving your hand a specific distance will put the pointer exactly where you want it.

Any PC drivers yet? I'd love to play a couple of fps with this

One thing I did notice was that the pointer was definitely not as accurate as expected. This could be for any number of reasons, but how has everyone else had the best success with their Eye/Move combo?

Personally, my TV stand is relatively low, so I opted to put it on top of the TV itself. For EyePet it specifically asked for 30-60cm. (US version, still says cm? I didn't feel like converting that in my head, but I did anyway, it really means ~1-2ft, btw) So I put it there, and while uncomfortable, it did work fine.

But I tried leaving it in the same position, and using it for demos like Racquet Sports, and had very very poor results. So I moved it to the top of the TV again, and still had poor results. Not to mention I found that the pointer during the MENUS of Tumble was very, very misaligned. The game played okay, but the POINTER was terrible.

So what positioning/angle/etc. has proven to be the most effective for all of you out there? At the base of my TV = ~14in., and on top of it is...somewhere just below 5ft high. I haven't played anything that REQUIRES the pointer yet, but so far it was definitely not accurate, and the responsiveness was good for Tumble, but awful for Racquet Sports.

Yeah... having never played RE4 with Wii, leaving the cursor on the screen definitely seems backwards.

No matter where you last shot, you can always recenter in a split second and move to any point on the screen. Every other shooter has the reticule in the center of the screen, so having it reset to this point instantly makes a lot of sense to me.

I don't see why they'd bother works just fine in it's current form.

I cannot pew pew correctly without a ray gun!

Finally got it! :D For some reason moving my chair closer worked and then it calibrated first time no problem. I wasn't out of range so I dunno why I was having issues. I did still have to re-center during the game but I think that's because I adjusted my seat quickly and covered up the ball by accident. Only a quick press of O tho so no worries. Thanx for the help guys.

I take back my turd comment, it actually controls really well, very responsive. Impressed with the pointer controls of Move. Sports Champions controls beautifully as well as does Tumble.

As for the Shoot as a game, it was quite fun. I'd consider purchasing if it was a downloadable title but retail release would be too much. It's not really my type of game tho.

Hows the availability of the move? Can I walk into a target or something and just pick one up? Just looking for any info, thanks.

A couple of Targets I went into yesterday and Saturday had one or two bundles, the TRU we bought our set and extra move from had only one bundle and the Sony store we went to to test it Saturday before buying only had one.

It seems to depend on area, because some people claim to see them all over, others don't see them at all.
