Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

So I got this thing, is there any shoot games I can try with it that's available now?

Also where's the R3 button on the move controller?
It's a but hard to see from the pic but do you have access to L1 on the Nav when the grip is in place? If so you could use this with RE5 now and MAG (when it's patched). How dies the plastic feel btw?

Yes I can access all the buttons on the navigation controller, the plastic holds certain weight to it that I like, also the trigger has certain amount of resistance to it when you pull which I appreciate as well. The nav controller positioning is a bit awkward, but w/o games to try I can't say for certain how it's gonna play.

Also the nav controller doesn't have triangle and square button, my navigator hand have to reach for them on the main controller so I'd imagine it's gonna be even more awkward when I play non-on-rail shooters like MAG.

I'm eager to see how it plays with games that requires both controllers, but I think for light gun games it's gonna be great, I bought it mainly for Time Crisis.

I get the feeling people think I'm trying to maliciously hate on the device or something, but I only calls 'em like I sees them. I don't pussy foot around what I experienced.

This is neogaf, not the place for honest impressions. Dont know how many times ive been banned for calling it like I see it.

:lol

The plastic is nice. Almost identical to the DS3, if not identical. And its very ergonomic. The trigger feels good and is a little softer than DS3 triggers I think. And concave so its comfortable.

And the bubble is made of the same rubber as pacifiers, so its really durable and flexible.

Finally got to play a demo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Gamestop and no demo grrr, talked to clerk said he was down to last bundle and that everything else was sold out, he said he had sold out of 3 shipments DAYUM!

Went to Best Buy and they had it :D

First thing I noticed about SC as I walked up to the booth, the graphics looked incredible, way better than the pics. I was given the controller and WOW, augmented reality feels crazy. I play table tennis and choose Rin, just WOW! I played table tennis in middle school and I was more than impressed, I may have also had a big stupid grin on my face :lol . I loved it and can't wait to buy a PS3. Huge crowd too, the reps had to explain to everyone they were sold out of everything DAYUM! I knew Move was selling but not like that. It was not until I got home that I realized that I had not been playing the demo but a full copy of SC, I completely missed my chance to play the other sports FUCK! I might go again in a few days.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the controller feels really good in the hand

EDIT2: One more thing, I saw a 10 year kid going crazy with that waggle bullshit in gladiator, was not effective at all.

So I got 2 wands (no navs yet), and am trying to find the best charging dock. I can't tell from the ones that are available now if the nav controller slot only fits navs', or if I can just drop either wand/nav into the slots?

sorry if it's been discussed to death in this thread... I searched and found nothing.

I think navs/moves have the same base/bottom so they should fit interchangeably. What I want is a base that also has 1-2 slots for a DS3 and an external USB for the headset.

is it sad that I had to lookup what DAYUM means? :)))

When calibrating sometimes if I point to the center of the tv screen instead of the eye like it tells you the pointer is centered better it seems.

I really like the sight lines with HD in Sports Champions it really makes a difference in some events like archery, no blurry mess like you have bad vision.

This seems to be exactly what you want:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041RY3W4/?tag=neogaf0e-20

-Charges 2 Sixaxis or DualShock3 controllers, 1 PlayStation Move motion controller and 1 PlayStation Move navigation controller.
-2 additional USB ports
-Allows you to charge up to 6 devices at once!

Thanks for the Newsflash, bro.

Maybe you can expand on your statement, because Flight Control HD uses pointer controls.

You don't need to actually point at the screen though to still have (enough) control.

(red line is where the crosshair should be when I am aiming)

When I say the pointer controls don't work well, I am referring to the fact that the crosshair does not line up exactly with the controller when it's pointed at the screen. In other words, the 'pointer controls' that are in Flight Control HD are just the similar sort of waggle and pray aiming you see in Resi 5, or Wii. In other words, as a pointing device (necessary in light gun games where aiming precision is needed) it stinks like an unwashed scrotum.

What's going on with my Move controller? I charged it for 5 hours and when I tried playing, it said it was about to go out of batteries after like 2 minutes...

Just got starter pack + kung fu rider and an extra wand. Sport champion is out of stock :<

Not too impressed with the demos & kung fu rider though. Can't get eyepet to work properly.

So I guess sport champions (and maybe tumble) is the only worthwhile game at the moment?

Yes, Sports Champions and Tumble are extremely good games.

I ended up getting the official 2 controller charger. It seemes like the navs are smaller and need a specific charging port. Luckily the official base seems to support either size in both slots.

Not sure if other docks will have the dual size ability though. Seems like an annoying design aspect.

Yup SC and Tumble are both great. RE5 Gold with the move works quite well, but I think the game itself is an abomination.

Probably a dumb question, but are you sure that you were charging it? The PS3 can't charge things when it's off.

Yeah bro, it's telling me it's charging.

you didnt calibrate it correctly then... keep in mind also that it depends from game to game. I didnt try flight control yet, but I am thinking it might have fallback of using sensors if ball is not seen... the shoot works pretty damn good with pointed controls, but you have to calibrate it properly.

start the party is good for parties and kids, and the shoot is not bad either... tiger woods is NA as I couldnt calibrate it at all.

Eyepet you have to calibrate as the nutty professor tells you or it will not work... also use move instead of hand and it will all work.

The only way I could get Tiger Woods to calibrate is to press the PS button and press it again, then calibrate it, finally got it to work.

Calibration.

It makes all the difference in the world. But, yes, the way the Move handles pointer controls isn't ideal, but you'd have to be a tard to not realize why it's happening, and how easy it is to fix it.

actually don't have this problem. Well, its not super precise but its accurate enough. You can tell its super accurate when you play RE5/the shoot.

also. if you find it drifting. shake the wand at the middle of the screen really really fast to quickly center it. It works.

Maastricht said:
you'll start to notice some pretty big differences in accuracy and AI assist consistency as well as issues with de-calibration.
Are you saying playing pen-grip de-calibrates over time? I've never had an issue with calibration playing normally, and I only tried pen for few minutes as it's not my natural style and I suck at it.

That said, so far the only real-world shot I have been unable to reproduce is side-spin serve (with normal grip), but given the range of other shots that Do work like expected, it's not a big deal really.

It's even more accurate in Flight control HD for me then other two (the line drawing games never worked for me with touch, but it works really well with this - not to mention multiplayer is hillarious).

Is anyone interested in impressions for this? I can get my hands on it if folks want to know how it works.

Side note: I know Bluetooth supports up to 8 devices connected together (PS3+7) but is that also the maximum it can remember?

Basically, if I have say, 4 DS3's, will my PS3 forget one of those if I connect 4 Move controllers?

The hell? Didn't even know this was coming.

When you press square (or is it circle? Don't remember now) in Flight Control HD, pointer appears in the middle of the screen. Pointing the Move at the middle of the screen and pressing square doesn't fix that?

press select.

then

POINT MOVE right in the MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN. (then press move button)

Bought Tumble this weekend.

What a great game! It's awesome you can play the main mode(s) in co-op too. Had a lot of fun playing this with my girlfriend. There were some tough challenges that had us scratching our heads, but the reward of being able to blow up new towers was worth it.

The real fun is this game however, is the versus mode. Just the basic one (haven't checked out all the other modes yet) is enough for a full evening of fun and laughter with friends.

Yes please. Very interested in this one. I'm on a phone now, does this have a EU release?

Alright, I’ve played about five hours of Resident Evil 5 yesterday. I’ve not bought this game when it first came out, because I didn’t like the DualShock 3 controls at all. I couldn’t even finish the Demo, and it seemed like the controls were stopping me from enjoying the game.

I’m not sure I like this game as much as I like “Resident Evil 4”, but it’s definitely worth playing. The game itself would be better if the co-op weren’t forced or if the missions were not built around the fact that you have a co-op partner all the time. You can almost always be sure that you’ll have to walk somewhere to activate some mechanism to open some gate for your partner. I haven’t finished it, but everything seems so predictable. I’m currently at the point where you have to fight
Irving
.

I really like the controls and the fact that they finally made the game playable. I’ve had a problem with the calibration (Move didn’t glow when I tried to connect it, lost connection) once, but aside from that everything is fine. They’re not as good as the Wii-controls, but the game is way more enjoyable with Move than it is with the DualShock controller. Aiming is faster, etc. My main problems with the controls result of how the game was built. Why the hell doesn’t the game pause when I open my bag to give Sheva some ammo? Why do I always walk slowly when I’m not pressing the X-Button? Is there even anyone who prefers to walk slowly? It just seems out-dated. I also don’t like that there’s no button to reload your gun. You have to shake the controller (while aiming) to do so. However, I’d recommend everyone trying the Move-Controls – especially if you thought that the game was no fun because of how it played with a normal controller.

I’m glad I spent 30€ on the Gold Edition. It’s not the best game out there and not even the best action “Resident Evil”, but it’s fun with the Move controller. I don’t get why some people hate the controls. It takes some time (about 30 minutes) to get used to them, but after that you’ll have a great time.

I ordered Move+Navigation+Sports Champions for 80 pounds at Amazon a few days ago. Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition is for sale today at Zavvi for 13 pounds so I ordered that one too.
After reading all the positive stories I cannot wait to start playing with the Move! :D

Has everyone had calibration issues at some point where the game would boot up, everything would be totally off (or the colour-picking part would always fail), but a reboot of the game fixes everything?

It happens to me quite often (like, 1 in 8 times), and in different games. I think the calibration libraries are a little buggy.

no issues here.....

For the eyepet demo I had to move the camera down from the top of the tv. Worked fine after the move.

Huh. Surprising, because Activision's even saying in interviews they want to prioritise their own plastic over the new motion platforms.

Not that I'm complaining, I think it's very accommodating of them :P

that amazon listing is strange..

ref=dp_image_z_0

they include the periphial and show that it is compatible with 2 move controllers..? what is up with that..?

I have this issue too, and about the same frequency. Like you, i just reboot and it's usually fine. as this is the first gen of software it doesn't bother me too much.

Nope. still can't get it to work. Already set the lightning & put the camera about 60cm from the floor.
Professor keeps telling me to wiggle my fingers but the damn pet just walk around. Also fail to detect my hand when shampooing the pet. Oh well...

Time crisis feels a lot like most wii shooter, maybe with a better responsiveness (and graphics of course). It's the damn cursor.

Kung fu rider's motion controls seems very basic so far i've played. Probably can be done with Wii/WM+ too.

I just really hope they can make more better quality, unique & fresh software with Move in the future, not just glorified wii ports.

Tumble
Sports Champions
Start the Party

The three of those are unique and fresh, play them all if you haven't yet.
