Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

lol, you're both doing it wrong.

I think he's saying he expects it to LAST 4 hours (i think it lasts a lot longer)

And as mentioned above, solid red is good. That's how you know it's on.

No, he's talking about charging it. Not how long the battery life lasts once you have it fully charged.

The Move takes roughly 4 hours to charge from a "low battery" indicator. His charged in 3 hours, and so he wanted to know if that was normal.

Both my moves were fully charged. There was no way it took 4hr. Maximum 30 min.

So what I have gathered from reading a few reviews and impressions is that the Move is a great technology but there are not many good games for it. I have been on the fence about buying this for the past week but if there is nothing to play, why buy it now? I never played MAG and want to but hearing that MAG's Move implementation isnt that great makes me unsure about getting the game with Move. Is the verdict to wait for more content or is there enough to keep you busy until the next big Move game comes out?

people are raving about SC, i dont see where you got that impression on gaf. There is SC, Tumble, Fctrl, Start the Party, MAG, Ruse, HR... something for everyone.

I think there's a strong launch lineup with enough content trickling out over the next few months to keep most gamers busy, especially on PSN. I'm really looking forward to Dungeon Defenders and Echochrome II.

i dunno, i've played all of those except for ruse and none of them really caught my attention. of course, soon time crisis will come out and ill be obsessed with my move controllers haha.

has anybody ordered the sony move gun attachment yet? i'm thinking of grabbing 2 and the game off amazon.ca, but i want it here the day it comes out. i don't quite trust ordering games online with amazons free shipping.

Mine took 4 hours to charge as well.

Also, here's from the official Sony blog FAQ:

Q: How long does it take to fully charge a PlayStation Move motion controller? How long will the charge last?
A: It takes approximately five hours to fully charge a PlayStation Move motion controller (four hours using the charging station). Once fully charged, you can expect at a maximum 10 hours of battery life.

I gotta get used to Move in MAG. I ended up getting virtually fisted in live competition. :(
Yeah. It does take a bit of getting used to. I'd say I put around 40 hrs in using DS3 and about 5 using move (incl the beta). The move controls are definitely getting more and more comfortable for me. I'm pretty sure I won't be going back to DS3 with MAG (although sniping with move is more difficult because of that rubber band aiming thing). I like to get close and shoot from the hip with a shotgun. Very satisfying with move! :D

Finally got my gears, briefed through SC. Gladiator was really satisfying. Tried it with some wrist weights on, this will be my workout of choice for a while. Good for toning the upper body.

Table tennis didn´t click right away, I guess it will take some time to get used to it. I am a decent player IRL. Though I was mighty impressed by the physics simulation including top spin/back spin.

Welll i decided to get on the Move! Planning to buy MAG but i was also looking at trying to get 2 controllers. Do you think it would be a better idea to purchase 2 wands or 1 wand and the movement controller? I wanted 2 main controllers for team play and also for the Archery and gladiator games. What should i go for GAF!?:D

2 wands. 2 players. 2 wand modes in Sports Champion. You can get the nav control later.

Maybe you stepped into a time warp during the charge.

90% of the people here say it takes roughly 4 hours. It took 4 hours for me, and it takes 4 hours every time when I charge it from a low battery to full.

TTP said:
Yep. HUUUGE improvement. It's basically perfect now. Only issues I have are Move unrelated (lag / frame rate / clusterfuck).

Will do video shortly. Still waiting for the Navigation controller to arrive. Don't want to make another vid with the DS3.

Looking forward to seeing that!

Lent my MAG CE to a friend and well, getting it back is unlikely :lol

Considering repurchasing now it's going Greatest Hits with the DLC free.

I have a 60GB PS3. There is no way I would leave it on for 4hrs just to charge my controller. I left them for approx 1/2 hour. And the light was solid.

But I just also realized , that solid light doesnt mean complete charged. It just means its not at low battery.

hence, my fault and bad.

:D

Damn, I swear my Move controller has to be recharged every 30 mins. Ridiculous how often I look down and it's blinking red, even though I let it charge the night before.

Have you been leaving the PS3 on while charging..? Because the PS3's USB ports do not stay on when the system is off

I got my 2 moves and a navi from the UK yesterday (suck it, Japan delay). Build quality is excellent and sits very comfortably in the hand. I have quite big hands so I don't have to adjust my grip at all to press all 5 buttons, it's very nice. The trigger is a real trigger, holy shit why can't they DS3 have this? Navi is what you'd expect, again comfortable to hold but I notice the the trigger on the navi, while concave, is squishy like the DS3. Don't know why they don't just put the same sort of trigger in both.

I have Heavy Rain and RE5 Gold, and I really can't be bothered to play HR again, let alone download the giant patch so I've just played RE5 for now. Works very well, the cursor lag is low enough that I would consider it negligible. I admit though I'm having a hard time getting used to the button layout. I really expect the knife to be on L2, not L1. Move button should be aim and trigger should be shoot. Plus interaction buttons can be a bit weird. Picking up items and opening doors is bound to the move button, but stuff like assist jump is circle, with move button to cancel. The cursor seemed to move far too fast on the default 5 setting, but once I had it down to 2 it seemed ideal, my accuracy went way up. IGN did make a fair point though, it's a bit of a pain you have to go into aim mode to look around. I don't know why you can just the move to adjust the camera when not in aim mode, since it's not doing anything else.

Also had a quick go on the Echochrome 2 demo, what a pile of shit that was.

Only slight quirk I had with move in generally was I went to try out the web browser with it (it's shit) and after I'd finished I could no longer navigate the XMB with gestures (though the turn off controller/shutdown menu worked fine). Had to reboot to get it back again. I'm just going to blame the browser for that.

Anyway, very impressed with the hardware, even if the current software implementations are a little lacking.

Wow, I haven't even played RE5 and those sound awkward. Are they not configurable?

Shit, plugged my brand new move controller into my Energizer DS3 charger 5 hours ago and it still wasn't done charging. The light was blinking once, then a double blink and continuing that cycle. I was suspicious of the double blink the entire time and finally decided to plug it into my PS3 - light is now blinking at a steady rate.

Does that mean you can only charge it with the PS3 and the official charger? Or does my Energizer charger just not have the current/voltage to properly charge it?

Would not charge on my iPhone plug so I ended up buying the official charge station.

You can also try charging from the PS3 directly via a USB cable.

Yeah I guess I should have said "PS3 OR the official charger" :) Only took 30 minutes or so once I plugged it in the PS3. Patching now and time to check this thing out.

Yeah, Sony has the new "official" product license thing going on now similar to Microsoft, so now only licensed products will be compatible with PS3 peripherals and vice versa. \i can be wrong but this is what I think has happened.

Nah... you just have to pick the charger with the right spec. The licensing simply support the vendors such that they can do the right thing.

all you need to do to use the knife is to swing the wand.

Fairly sure that only works when you're in knife ready mode.

There's a B layout but it's even worse if I remember correctly. I seriously don't know why more games don't have complete freedom in configuration. I mean, what does the dev care what layout I'm using? Is it really that hard to program?

So I have decided after using 2 different moves, in 2 different environments and constantly tweaking and playing around that there is something inherently wrong with the pointer controls of Ruse. I have tried the same controllers with tumble, SC, and shoot. they work great there but the ruse pointer is off by another 3-4 inches from where I am pointing. I always have to point up and to the left to get it centered. Now it isnt game breaking or control breaking because you get used to it within the first 5 seconds but there is definitely something off about the controls. I would also like to add I never had this issue with the demo. I have calibrated my controls both ingame and on the xmb multiple times. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I played it only 5-10 minutes a week ago, but you're definitely wrong.

I was hoping I would like this game now that it has Move controls, but the crappiness of the game is holding me back ... I wish it was more like Resident Evil 4 at least.

So happy I changed my mind and bought 4 Move controllers from the start, watching the kids play gladiator was well worth it. So far they also got really hooked on frisbee golf.

Yeah I just tried it and you're right, nevertheless it would still be better if knife ready was on L2.

Yeah I just said that in the post right above yours. And as I said, it still doesn't change the fact that it would be better if it was on L2. In any rate, unless you're trying to do some last-ditch desperate attack, it's not particularly useful. You're far more likely to want to ready the knife, aim at the head or feet, then time the attack accurately, which you can't do with waggle-stab.

I'm currently going with

Player rotation - 80
Player pitch - 80
Gesture Sensitivity - 65
Scope Sensitivity - 70
Normal play bounding box - Pitch 30 / Turning 0 / Pointer Sensitivity 40
Fixed Iron Sights - OFF
Iron sights bounding box - Pitch 40 / Turning 10 / Pointer Sensitivity 50

Good Settings TTP. With these settings i got my first 'more kills than deaths' score with move. Apart from the scope view i think the bar has been set pretty high for FPS with move. Very excited for KZ3.

got up to 121 planes on the Australian Flightcontrol HD map. Then I crashed and nearly threw my controller at the screen :D

Great game. Everyone needs to find a way to buy it.

The rapala fishing video actually looks really nice. L O L that the move was better for catching fish than the official peripheral. Really strange how their ball would light on and off, I guess the game isn't tracking the wand?

Man, I don't think those 2 douches are doing the game much justice by acting so blase about the game they tried.

You should select 'Pointer B' as your default control choice. This way, L2 will arm your knife as well as allow you to aim the camera manually and L1 + D Pad will allow you to run and do 180 degree turns. I like it this way since all movement and aiming controls are on my left hand and all action buttons are on my right.

Anyone noticed that the 'pointer control' implementation in BH/RE5 is really half-arsed? They basically took the XMB navigation implementation and put it into the game wholesale foregoing the use of the PS Eye. This is why every time you press the T button your cursor appears at the centre on the screen regardless of where your Move is pointing at. All subsequent 'aiming' motions are then derived from the gyroscope's reading so you do not need to aim or point at the screen to play at all.

Yesterday was a good day.
Made gyoza which was a huge success. <3
Sauna <3
But the highlight of the friday night with alcohol was Bocce.
Holy shit at that game. Fun, easy to play, accurate, pain in the ass when losing, but still fun.
Will definitely play again when friends stop by.

Bocce <3

Dungeon Defenders needs to hurry up and arrive, I need a less physical alternative to Sports Champions. My right side and left butt cheek are in intense pain. I've had to take to playing Disc Golf with my left hand to give the weary right side a rest.

no, that's not it at all.

Again, any USB charger will charge these things.

Went to the store again yesterday intending on buying Move, but couldn't pull the trigger. There just isn't a compelling game for me yet. Maybe I'll wait to get it with KZ3...

LBP2 will have 10-level Move demo
LittleBigPlanet 2 will ship with a multi-level PlayStation Move demo that shows you how Sony's new controls could work with Sony's new game, Eurogamer has learned.

But full PlayStation Move support won't be added until after LittleBigPlanet 2's January 2011 release.

"With the main game there will be an extra game - possibly on another disc, maybe on the same disk - that will contain 10-ish levels that demonstrate how Move could work with LittleBigPlanet 2," Media Molecule's community manager James Spafford explained.

"And shortly after release we'll do a full DLC pack that's purely Move, and we'll give away the free controls so people can make their own Move levels as well."
