Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

I have seen a bunch of move commercials on TV... moreso then i would have thought (a lot during baseball and Nfl games) and they said they were going to save most of it for the holiday push, but they will not have anywhere near the investment in advertising that MS is making for kinect.

For argument's sake, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and accept that demand is tracking ahead of supply.

In that case, what is the value of a larger marketing push?

Yes, you're decreasing the chances of having a huge cultural phenomenon type 'thing', but I don't Sony ever expected that from Move, and an investment that attempted to do that is extremely risky since it may very well not pay off. Sony knows we're talking about late-cycle peripherals here that may not have a huge amount of steam past a couple of years (before they become commodity parts of a next-gen setup). It's partially why, I think, they also targeted a relatively cheap entry level - so they wouldn't have to necessarily spend as much elsewhere in the marketing mix to stimulate x million units of demand or whatever.

And, like I said elsewhere, if Sony can sell as many or more units as MS this holiday, or to as many or more users, on a much smaller marketing budget - good for them?

Sony's PlayStation Move Shooting Attachment hits the bulls-eye

Sony sent us its official add-on that turns the Move into something resembling a handgun, and we fell in love almost instantly. You attach the Move by sliding two release tabs on either side of the gun, popping the plastic top off, and then replacing it with the Move inserted. There is a slot in the back for the lanyard if you have it attached, along with a plastic nub that opens in case you'd like to keep the Move attached while charging.

In short, this thing is damn near perfect. It feels good and heavy in your hand, all the buttons are easily accessible—although the start and select buttons on the side need a good amount of pressure to hit—and the trigger is responsive. It even looks attractive, with bold swaths of color and a design that's way more inviting and striking than either the Wii Zapper or the third-party solutions hitting the market.

My only complaint is the flair on the bottom of the handle. My hands aren't large by any stretch of the imagination, but it seemed a little too close to the trigger guard for my taste, and that may make the attachment less comfortable for those with larger hands. After playing both The Shoot and my Time Crisis preview disc using the Shooting Attachment it's clear that if you're a fan of light-gun games you're going to want to buy this. Sony did the right thing: create a peripheral that's better than the third-party options, inexpensive, and official. Bring on Dead Space: Extraction!

hope this isn't as hard to find as the Move controller

wow ok so i played the pirates game and time crisis 4 packed in with time crisis: razing storm. they're both pretty awesome. the pirates one is my favourite by far because you dont need to use 2 hands with the gun peripheral. theres no ducking in it. it's got some cool QTE stuff that seems to be missing from razing storm. i can't wait to get a second move controller and gun attachment to play co-op in these games. drunken time crisis can't wait!

also, the gun attachment was 30 bucks for me at walmart and then when i went to futureshop today to buy gow3 (on sale for 19.99!!!) i saw it was there for 20 bucks. kinda pissed, so im going to pack it up and return it to walmart and buy it from futureshop. or can i get it price adjusted? im not sure how that works.

I just got Time Crisis Razing Storm today with the MOVE Precision Shot 3 and I hooked up my nav controller like you are supposed to. I am really disappointed with the calibration. No matter how many times I try to re-calibrate it and sit in the center of the TV and PS Eye, the cursor is anything but smooth. Playing the story mode where you control the movement like an FPS is really frustrating, I feel like I am battling the controls the whole time.

I know you can do smooth, accurate move interpolations because I've seen it in Sony's Tech Demo's and also experienced it in Sports Champions.

Was really looking forward to this :(. I had more fun with old school Dreamcast arcade port of House of the Dead.

I wonder if there's something off with my setup, but like I said, Sports Champions has worked fantastic. I was playing in the evening so the light situation shouldn't a problem. I'll try the non-fps ones and The Shoot demo to see if that feels better.

Now I'm sad :(. There's so many other games to play through right now so it doesn't matter a lot but I really do enjoy these types of shooters and with the Move I had high hopes.

Wonder what Dead Space Extraction will be like when Dead Space 2 comes out...

I'm going to purchase a move/nav setup sometime in the near future, but I have a couple questions.

Has anyone used the Move with a glossy screen? (CP monitor) Will the little light up ball be annoying as fuck? Hopefully someone here has tried this combo, I would like to have your opinion. Also, I usually sit 2-3 feet away from my monitor will the move work well from that distance?

Haha, maybe it is only a Sony and Amazon thing then since I have never gotten a PSP/PS3 games from them on launch day before.

Damn, I was this close to picking that up yesterday, glad I didn't. Shame though, looked the sort of the thing that would be fun to play with non gamers.

My screen is kinda shiny, though can't say I've noticed the reflection on anything but black loading screens.

2-3 feet is kinda close, you might have trouble with active games like SC, but stuff that doesn't require any big movements should be fine.

so what shooters support Move right now and what shooters will? Is there a list?
I know Killzone 3 will, but will CoD: Black ops support it for instance?

Just watched my kids play Kung Fu Rider. Does the pseye have face regocnition..? because after they complete a level it takes pictures, and it did not take pictures of the person playing. It focused on random heads.. mine, my wife and the children.. cool feature.

for now MAG, then SOCOM, KZ3, not Black Ops

I think developers should note that I would buy a bit of cliched FPS games right now if they had Move support. I am not considering getting MoH or Black Ops, but with Move, definitely. Make it happen.

Yeah, I'd buy MoH or BO with move support in a heartbeat.

don't play the story mode of time crisis? it's stable and centered during the arcade version and i can't really fathom why anyone would play the fps thing anyway.

I just finished trying all the demos. I'm very impressed by the Sports Champion demo, but it was way too easy, so I got bored very quickly. The Shoot was surprisingly very fun, I like it a lot. I also tried the Big 3 shooting demo, but I liked the Shoot better. The demo for time crisis was very boring, and I don't think I will like the game any more. Also disappointed by the Ape Escape demo, it's not really interesting. Well, time to try the 2 games that I have now: Beat Sketch and RE5 :D

any impressions of the sony move shoot accessory?
Got it today (don't know why though, don't plan on buying these arcade shooters but it was cheap! I'm getting Dead Space Extraction eventually). It's awesome. Really sturdy quality and beautiful imho. I can't think of a single thing I would change.

The Last Guardian Move Supported

American video game retailer GameStop has listed Team ICO's co-operation-based adventure game as one which will support PlayStation Move, alongside Heroes on the Move, Sorcery, and many others.

I wouldn't read too much into it. Isn't the game slated for holiday 2011?

Bought :D

Finished Time Crisis Razing Storm's arcade mode. Was fun but really short (guess that's expected for an arcade title). Story mode is ok, you have to move to cursor to the edges of the screen to move your view so it's a bit cumbersome, but the game is setup like Red Steel (enemies pop out shooting gallery style) so it ain't too much of a problem. No problems with calibration, cursor is shaky because my hand is shaky so I can't fault the controller.

I like pachter and all but come on man, how could the move be a bomba and then a pretty good success within the same week with the same data?

The combined sales exceeded some analysts' expectations.

"It's ahead of what I thought previously," said Michael Pachter, an analyst with Wedbush Securities. "I think that they are a lock to sell 3 to 4 million by Dec. 31, and a lock to hit more than 5 million by fiscal year end" on March 31.

Although Sony's numbers are for controllers it had shipped to stores, there's a good chance that many of them, if not all, have sold. Many stores sell out of the devices as soon as they're received, said John Koller, director of hardware marketing for Sony's PlayStation business in Foster City, Calif.

analysts revise their analysis all the time :)

Oh, I forgot to mention that the JPN release of Big 3 Gun Shooting works on PS3 firmware 3.41 :D
The USA version of Time Crisis Razing Storm requires 3.42. Namco needs to release a patch to allow the reload button to be mapped to the select button and or to use the nav controller for reloading in arcade mode because using the top buttons, especially the move button to duck puts more strain on the wrist when using the shooting attachment. Capcom too needs to allow the aim button to be mapped to the L1 or L2 on the nav controller for RE5 because I want to use the shooting attachment with the game :-/ Whoever thought aiming with the trigger and then shoot with the move button had it ass backwards.

The 2007 Time Crisis 4 release allows you to map the reload button to any button on the controller. I've tried hooking up a USB adaptor with my Real Metal Arcade Reload pedal and it works great to give you that authentic arcade feel. The pedal is mapped to L1. Too bad it doesn't work with Big 3 Gun Shooting/Razing Storm :-/

Hmm I kinda want this but the mixed impressions regarding the controls and the games' length is putting me off. Are the games just straight arcade ports or is there any new content in there, original mode etc?

I picked up the $100 move bundle today along with the new TC game. I am really impressed so far. I like navigating the menu with it, and TC plays great with it. I am going to try out MAG in a bit.

Has there been any news about Beat Sketcher? Friends and I have been playing the heck out of the demo. Can't find a release date or any info.
Everybody is still waiting to find out what that game is about.
