Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

technically not Move related, but which settings are you guys using for headtracking in GT5?

mine:

- angle of the PS-Eye to narrow (red dot)

- Face Angle Range: 10/10 (I want the camera to turn as much as possible)
- Face Position Range: 9/10 (though you hardly notice this anyway)
- Face Recognition Threshold: 1/10 (if set up correctly, this will help to capture all your head movements)
- Camera exposure: Auto (my room's light conditions can change)
- Camera sensitivity: Auto (same as above)
- Face Recognition Size: 30/100 (if I understand this correctly, it will only search&track a face in that area during gameplay. Using a wheel I'm bascially always in the same spot so I was able to choose a smaller area)

You will notice a delay (200ms?), but otherwise the game recognizes the movements correctly (sometimes it seems strange so I would say in 9 out of 10 times), though it could be smoother/more sensitive (the tracking does not feel 1:1, I think it can only distinguish between relatively large differences)

btw you don't have to worry that it activates on accident, the camera will only move after you turned your head maybe 5-10°.
the camera will also track your head position, but basically that only means that you can move the camera an inch lower behind the wheel if you are scared :P

It's usable if you chose the narrow(er) cockpit views so that you can take a quick look into the rear mirrors. Also, it just feels neat to control the camera like that.

I bought Beat Sketchers and Auditorium HD.

Loving Beat Sketchers, challenge mode is pretty awesome.

Not loving Auditorium so much however. Anyone else think it controls like shit? At first I thought I just had the calibration wrong but I've retried a lot with the same results. It's wierd, you don't just point at the screen, you have to hold the move controller almost vertically to move the pointer about. Is that how it should be? If so, i think its really shitty, as not only does it feel counter-intuitive, but it starts to hurt your arm after a bit as well. Really, the game would control miles better with the DS3

Did I understand correctly, that headtracking is limited to arcade mode?

Good to see a positive post about Beat Sketches since I'll be downloading it tonight. The demo is neat, I like creative games.

anyone else purchase it?

Beat Sketchers is mine.

I'm actually quite impressed so far. It's fun to just throw together beats and scribble on the screen but it seems like you could do some really cool shit once you get a good grasp of the tools. You can save your creations as photos and videos and send them to the XMB so you can share them on the internets. Very, very cool. This should be packed in with every Move, it shows a lot of the neat stuff that you can do with it.

Spent a little time with challenge mode. You follow the timing of the song and draw out parts of the image along with the beat of the song. It reminds me of Elite Beat Agents.

I'll probably make an OT for it soon since it deserves more attention.

the multiplayer mode of beat sketcher is pretty fun.

i like the line drawing one the best where you try to draw the longest line you possibly can.

fun simple mode, great with a friend or two/three.

First of all increase the sensitivity. For me 7 works like a charm. But it depends on the distance. The farther you are, the higher the sensitivity you should set.

You can hold the Move however you like since it only tracks the sphere (like Beat Sketcher).

It's actually a very clever implementation of the Move (Rat Lab does the same but it also detects twisting/tilting). Feels more like a mouse than a pointer this way. And it doesn't suffer from any drifting of course since sensors are not involved at all.

It works VERY well.

DS3 controls are shit. Slow and less intuitive (scroll through Controls via R1/L1 vs point&grab).

13mins video encoding now btw, should be up in a couple of hours (probably 5 :lol)

Also working on GT5 headtracking video. Should be up next.

For someone who won't have any audio for 3 more hours, could you perhaps summarize what you think of this version? Worth it?

It's osom. Move controls are great (better than DS3 by a good margin) :)

Does beat sketchers have a similar sensitivity option? I play on a 65 inch TV from about 15 feet back and would rather not have to stand to play.

I don't think so. At least not in the demo (I have yet to get the full version). This is the first time I've seen this sensitivity option in a "painting" based game. I didn't know it was even possible.

That's a shame. Brilliant control scheme.

Aim the PS Eye at your couch seat and twist the ring on the PS Eye over to the red.

Wait, 15 feet away? Hmm.. that zoom might not be enough. Bring the Eye closer to you then. Best would be to set it on a coffee table or anything else that's couch-cushion-level. Floor should be fine too, really.

The Fight: Lights Out 1:1 tracking is Amazing ( PlayStation Move & Head Tracking)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15C8j6o9fKI&feature=player_embedded

They've done a good job with Move demo's so far, but I'm still bummed out that Sony hasn't given us a The Fight demo. It seems pretty cool but I need to try it myself first.

oh well, by the time I have 2 Moves it might be cheaper

back to Beat Sketchers: anyone know if there is a way to export still images to the XMB? It lets me save them, but unlike the videos they don't appear in the XMB menu.

There is a way in the demo so there has to be one in the final version as well.

IIRC you simply press Triangle anytime and select "Recording Menu".

Is Funky Lab Rat good?

it has move support
The controls with move are much better than with dualshock alone. If you are playing with dualshock jump is l1/r1, with move it is the move button.

You need a navcon or ds to control rat movement though.

After playing The Fight: Lights Out and how impressive the 1:1 fighting is, got me to thinking. This is not about the 1:1, its about the genius way they "MOVE" the fighter, and how great it would be for a tennis game. If you are not familiar with the fight: lights out fighter movement I'll explain, plus you must experience it before you condemn it.

Pressing the Move button and tilting in the desired direction will make for an awesome experience and reduce the cost to enjoy the full experience and no need for a navigation controller.

What we know? based on sports champions we can deliver the type of shot we want without the press of a button. But, we will need to press a button with this method but its for the greater good. Reduces the cost to enjoy the game and it gives you the full experience with one controller.

Now a spin off from The Fight: Lights out is that they use the "MOVE" button. My preference will be the analog trigger plus the tilt function. Why is that well my line of thinking is like a gas pedal the more you pull the trigger the faster he/she runs or the less the slower he/she runs based on attributes of course.

How does it work:

based on levels of pull, slight pull, medium pull and full pull. slight pull a good judgemental run very deliberate, you're ahead of the ball. Medium pull, you're slight behind the ball but just gets there. Full Pull you're behind the ball and when you swing your avatar dives.

and of course you will have to release the trigger in order to hit the ball. I think the fight lights out, has opened a door that will never be closed.

So if you had to choose between Sports Champions and Eye Pet....which would you choose? Both are $29.99 on Amazon right now so I'm thinking of picking either up.

Keep in mind that I have an 8 year old son. :-P

IMO go with SC, he might get bored with eyepet too soon like my 8 year old :)

Unless I've missed something in the laqst month, im surprised that the hasnt beeany new info on Sorcery.

They seem to have let the hype die out which is unfortunate.

I created my first masterpiece in Beat Sketchers, titled "Snuggle Time".

The image is just scribbles. When you draw, it adds a tune so it's hard to make a drawing that isn't scribbles and a coherent song at the same time. My beat is pretty catchy is you axe me, though.

Sport Champions, if you have to choose. Eyepet got its charm, but my 6 year old son prefers Sports Champions and so do I.

I agree with you about the movement control being something which could be applied to different sorts of move games.

1:1 tracking with both hands
Movement using the button + "virtual joystick"
Face tracking (with better tracking algorithm)

The Fight is pretty amazing but its going to be limited to hardcore and fighting enthusiasts just by the nature of the boxing sport itself and the fact that its a lot of exercise to play.

I tried out the Sports Champions demo at a local game shop, specifically the table tennis one.

It seemed pretty cool, and I liked it a lot, but it seemed to have a lot of assists on or something (I don't think I was able to pick a difficulty?).

At harder difficulties do you have more control over your paddle and shots??

Thanks.

cool song, is there a beat sketchers trial on the psn? game looks pretty sweet

Yeah, I believe it's on PSN but it's definitely on the demo disc that comes with the Sports Champion bundle. That's where I got the demo.

...but yeah, I'm kind of hooked on it right now. Neat game, once you get the hang of it you can improvise some pretty cool stuff.

The early cups have assist, the harder cups do not.

My dad is now addicted to 'The Shoot'. He was really getting into it. Never thought I'd see him get so physically involved in a video game.
I played the demo but thought it was pretty simple. How's the full one?

I wanted to follow-up for TTP and in case anyone else was wondering. I bought the full version of beat sketchers and it seems they did add a "sensitivity" option to the full game called "zoom mode."

It's either on or off (no slider) but it helps a lot for people more than 10 feet away. Between that and the physical zoom mode on the PS Eye itself, you are able to get some significant zoom effect (i.e. small controller movements = large on screen movements).

Side note: the game is a lot of fun. Combined with a deck of Pictionary cards and a timer, it can be a blast at parties too.

hmm you have to play at Silver/Gold difficulty, the Bronze has a lot of assists on it
