Between Tales of Graces f on EU PSN and Tales of Xillia on US PSN, Xillia is the much better AND cheaper choice? Did anyone play both and can say which of both is worth playing?

Also: Stupid region locked VIta D:

Storywise Xillia is better. The story is solid in the game (although a little rushed in the end, like most Tales of games) and, on the other hand, Graces story is crap (and the epilogue is like fanfic made by a fujoshi / fangirl)

Gameplay wise Graces f is like the most awesome 3D battle system in the franchise. Xillia boss fights are mostly mediocre and the system is basically Tales of Vesperia + Link system + You can change party members in battle.

The link system enables a special skill for the AI partners (steal, magic protection, stun...) and allows some combined arts.

Overall, not buying Xillia for 10$ is a crime. It's a solid 7-8 game and outside some bosses fights are enjoyable. The story is pretty good, characters are decent and the pacing is above the average Tales of game. And with Xillia 2 coming to the West next year (and feauturing which people think is the best and most mature story in the series) I think it's a no brainer
__

For people that has bought the games. Why there aren't strategy shortcuts like in Vesperia? I mean, in that game you could save 4 different strategies and change between them whenever you wanted. It was miles faster and confortable than changing everything manually...

for those who prefer to live in this thread....

Holy crap in a Pita. Some of those are really good.
I'm tempted by $9 Killzone: Mercenary but not sure I want to get rid of my card since it's saving me 3.1gb or so... :\

There's some really good deals in there if you don't already own everything like some of us... MGS:PW, Velocity Ultra Vita, Spelunky, etc.

However, other than the Killzone digital temptation, I think there's nothing for me... again.
Thomas was Alone is a consideration, but I have that on my PC now, so I don't know why I'd double dip. And EU PS+ got it for free, so I'm still on boycott for that as an NA PS+ customer.

If Runner 2 was for Vita, that I might double dip on... but it's not.

Don't feel bad frost. It is because people buy games when they come out that we have sales for them to begin with. I, for one, bought sly and killzone full priced. I regret nothing.

Thanks for the detailed reply, I think I'll just get Xillia. These games are so long and I rarely even play them AND I still have an unplyed copy of Vesperia here..

Any comment on which game has better characters and better side quests/ additional content? I care less about overall plot than about interesting characters.

About damn time the sales started back up after 2 weeks of nothing!

Going to be getting:
Puppeteer
Rain
Tales of Xillia
Killzone Mercenary
Velocity Ultra

Might get:
Enslaved
MGS Peace Walker (kind of rather have it on the PS3)
Pixeljunk Monsters (kind of rather have it on the PS3)

I should already get used to it, but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu at Xillia at 10 bucks after I bought it for 35.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

even being a ffdrone, i'd rec tales of xillia to anyone who is looking for a great jrpg.

for 10 bones it's a absolute steal

oh and blood dragon, best fps of the ps3/wii gen

Buy Lone Survivor it's the best silent hill game that's been released in the last couple years.

Will probably pick up Velocity Ultra and Puppeteer.

Fack, just bought peacewalker last week! Brilliant game btw, but that's a stiff kick to the sack...on another note, have any of you played walking dead for the vita? How is it, I'm assuming it's worth at least a five spot. How long is it?

So seeing that Crysis 3 deal, Im wondering how are the player numbers now. Loved Hunter Mode when i was on the beta but I dont wanna buy this game knowing no one on PS3 is playing it online. To Crysis 3 PS3 owners, how active is the multiplayer as of today?

If I had to guess, I'd think it's dead.
This might liven it up a little, but I don't think it will resurrect it.

Has there been any word on the Vita 2k for release anywhere else, I am thinking of scooping a couple of those 14 for 14 and got to wondering if that 1gb internal would hold me over for a bit.

It seems my Internet connection didn't sent my answer to this last question, but since it's you, I'll rewrite it ;)

Tales of Xillia has better characters, Graces characters go from meh, to atrocious (there is only a good character, which is a girl that they use for most jokes). About additional content and sidequests. Both are pretty straight forward with sidequests. There is a log, they give you instructions, you fullfil the request. The end game content is miles better in Graces, in Xillia is pretty barebones. The former has a better coloseum, a longer post-game dungeon and some other stuff.

Overall, I think Xillia is a good option for starters and Graces is more for Tales of fans, since the story / characters / presentation is quite worse.

But... what?! You have a sealed copy of Vesperia and you haven't played it? Spent those 10$ and buy Xillia, but you need to play Vesperia ASAP! It's like my favorite 360 game (and my favorite 7th gen JRPG, since Persona 4 is 6th/8th). Great game with and amazing cast of characters, the battle system is a little easier than Xillia / Graces. It's more traditional in some ways (fixed camera, traditional overworld, no quest log like in Xillia/Graces) but it's a really awesome game. My entry point in the franchise and my favorite so far.

I hope it does, the Hunter Mode was damn well thrilling to play. Whether you're a Hunter working with your partner to hunt down the other team or try to work together and survive the Hunter onslaught, that game mode was heart pumping fun when I played the beta.

If it is however super dead
:C
I suppose the SP will do fine too. At $5, I aint loosing too much.

There's also the other grand PS3 and PSV games to buy. Narrowing it down to Crysis 3, FC3 BD, LS DE, Rain, ToX, TWA, PJM HD, TWD Vita. Im kinda understanding how Steam users feel when they have their Steam sales.

How bout ya'all?

DAT PS 14 sale!! Grab them now!!

It's criminal not to get Puppeteer, KZM and Tales at those prices!!

I don't see the 14 in 14 sale. Is it EU thing, and not here in the U.S.?

Edit: It's tomorrow. Why all of you sounding like it's today?

Much appreciated! Vesperia is the only game I still have for the 360 and the console is not even set up, so I always put off playing it. :D It's definitely on the list of games to play sooner rather than later. I'm currently actually occupied with Persona 4 Golden though (mid September) so I don't know when I'll get to it. Xillia will just get added to my backlog/collection for now.

IMO (I love this game, so I'm not objective) that game is worth plugging the console. Shit, I know I'm going to buy a 360 for cheap once it hits 50€ or less second hand even if it's only for the game (I'll rebuy a few other exclusives, I guess. It'd feel quite bad buying a console for literally once game xD) . It's sad the PS3 version is not localized and the fan trasnlation (that it's almost finished) requires CFW 3.55

Hey guys, I'm new to PSN/Sony, my brother just got a PS4. Is there an equivalent blogger/tweeter to Major Nelson at Sony that I can follow to get updates on new releases and the such?

Peace Walker is just the PSP version, right?

I mean.. I'd love a proper Vita version since that was missing from the HD Collection but I won't hold out hope.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/01/13/retro-rush-double-dragon-psone-import-out-tomorrow/

We wanted to do something big for the New Year, so starting tomorrow the MonkeyPaw Games Retro Rush will be on! What’s the Retro Rush? Each week, for six weeks, we’ll be releasing a new import PSone Classic on PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PSP. We are going to highlight games from all kinds of genres, and it will all lead up to a game that PSone Classic fans have been anticipating for a long time. What does the schedule look like? Look no further!
January 14th – Double Dragon
January 21st – Lucifer Ring
January 28th – The Firemen 2: Pete and Danny
February 4th – Hyper Crazy Climber
February 11th – Wolf Fang
February 18th – Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return

Nice. Wonder what the mystery game is.

Probably the only game where I didn't mind the rear touchpad.

Touch My Katamari's rear touchpad usage can die in a fire.

I can't seem to keep my damn derpy fingers from meandering all over the bloody thing unless I curl them up somewhat uncomfortably. Maybe I need to get one of those grips.

Is Katamari really that bad? I was considering finally checking it out.

Maedhros and Ingueferroque
Please let me know if the codes you got don't work or of any issues with getting your codes!

SCEE better have a good sale as well.

EU PSN has been having a sale for the past 3-ish weeks, and before that you had your 12 days of X-mas sales which had some decent deals.
THERE IS ALREADY A SALE ON EU PSN

Sorry if this came off rude, but come on brah, doesn't hurt to lurk EU PSN webstore every thursday...

I'm a fan of the series, and I really liked Touch my Katamari. Had no problems with the rear touch shenanigans too.

But damn, it's the most unforgiving Katamari ever made, and to access the DLC levels you need to farm Fan Damacies, which might take some time.
