Well apparently, nobody else actually cares. Anyone who wants an OLED, can and has already bought one. I'd it was such a big selling point to the masses, they would have snapped it up. I'm sure more research than just cost cutting went into effect. They must have done market research on if people really cared enough. I mean, OLED got phased out from phones years ago once the appeal of the software and overall build quality outweighed the quality of the screen. Gimmicks are more important than anything right now and they did nothing gimmicky enough with the OLED and absolutely, positively, NOTHING with the back touch pad.

A lack of creative marketing is the death kneel of all Sony products. That's how Apple, Samsung, and HTC get their kicks
well HTC used to have their kicks before Samsung spent bazillions in marketing to dethrone them from the masses by taking shots at Apple
and that's why despite having the best hardware and software both the Z1 and Vita aren't going anywhere soon.

It could have been very simple, but let's just blanket blame SCEA for all of the Vitas faults.

I went off onto a tangent somewhere didn't I?

It's all good!

Your posts are always entertaining, none the less.

:P

I'm excited for DBZ, Toukiden, Deception 4 and FFX/X-2....I'm happy with the next couple months of Vita horizon.

^_^

Is it possible to buy 2 games in one transaction on the vita ps store?
I cant see the option to add item to cart. Bought velocity and walking dead earlier and now have $3 left over cause of the 2 seperate transactions

Don't think so, better just use the webstore really.

Yeah, I guess I'll just jump on it to be sure I get the OLED.

Best bundle I found was at Walmart.com here.

Decided to go with Gravity Rush.
Nice, welcome aboard!

Finally going through Muramasa now and this game never fails to stun me with its environments and amazing colours. So pretty.

Agreed really enjoyed it loved the backgrounds made back tracking not as bad, gonna have to buy the dlc soon

Do you guys think I should buy another OLED Vita before they are no longer available? My local Sony store still has a bunch of the OLED Wifi versions in stock.

I'm just concerned about the life expectancy of the OLED screen and that maybe I should have another one for down the road. I can see myself using the Vita for 5+ years easily.

My brother still uses his launch PSP regularly.

My current Vita has probably one of the best OLEDs I've seen compared to others' Vitas. I have literally almost no Mura, terrific contrast, no unnatural hue, etc.

However, maybe the 3000 Vita (if they make one) will be really something special.

Thoughts?

Edit: I just wanted to clarify that while I personally don't care for the yellow saturation of the LCD screen, that is not the sole reason I dislike the Vita 2000. I really dislike the extremely cheap feel Sony decided to go with. The 1000 just feels like a more premium device to me. That awful bezel and removal of the cutouts for the sticks, face buttons, and d-pad on the 2000 just irks me. I love the thinness, better battery life, improved speakers, supposedly more clicky and tactile buttons though!

There's no need to hurry - when 2000 model is annouced for west you will still have few weeks of sales so shops can get rid of old model.

Vita-3000 will be able to hijack the display component of nearby electronics, and will have extremely complex voice commands. "Vita, hijack the display of this theatre."

Hah, I was just dreaming of a Vita that brings back the OLED while maintaining all of the other minor improvements of the 2000. I can dream can't I?

Remote Play has easily confirmed for me that I much prefer the colors on my LCD TV than on the OLED. I think the Vita 2000 looks ugly as hell but I can't wait for it.

Damn, Thomas Was Alone has been surprisingly good so far. I wasn't expecting very much out of it but it really clicked with me.

Yep.

Right now I'm trying to make the gi look better.

Are you using one of those pens for tablets for drawing that stuff. Doing anything precise using your finger is really hard.

Well, back pad is useful for Remote Play purposes, which was one of the Vita purposes since launch. And I've read it isn't that expensive. But yes, as look as it can look, the OLED makes the product more expensive and they must cust costs as fast as they can. At this point, Vita's best hope is reaching 99€/$ for people to impulse buy it.

Haven't the Xperia Z line sold quite good? This add was pretty good and the one they used for the Z was cool too, with all that paints in the picture. The first part is a little less cool, but seeing the short version with all those colors and the photo being taken was really cool.

I think they've been doing quite well with the Xperia brand this year. But I live in Spain and people here love Sony (aside the TVs, maybe) so maybe i don't have the bigger picture.

Well, they aren't obviously the only ones to blame. But it seems that they're not even trying. I've seen Sony trying things in Europe to move more consoles, and they've succeeded to a certain excent. In SCEA their efforts are almost zero. Tearaway is 25€ in EU and 40$ in the US, that's the most recent example.

I think OLED screen have lesser input lag than LCDs. My main concern is how this will affect remote play. OLED looks awesome, but that's probably more important. Lesser lag = better for RP.

From that extensive review of the Japanese model it looks like the 2000 actually has a slightly better response time.

So yeah. I'm so terrible at ghosting in Spelunky. Going to take a good bit of practice. Also the 8 minute run seems insane unless you get a good dice roll. Some of the temple levels are impossible to run through. Although I have reached the temple with only ~3:10 clocked. Those mummies take up too much space.

That's nice, then. People usually said OLED > LCD for screens, so I supposed it was the biggest reason behind choosing that screen. If LCD tech is responsive enough, I understand why Sony has chosen to release a cheaper Vita 2000.

Very true game is awesome. Bought the day of release and let It sit for months. When I finally started playing had an awesome time.

Guys, should I buy Epic Mickey 2 on that price? I can't find a physical copy of that game in where I currently live. But I have hesitations because of the poor reviews of the said game.

I can't believe people worried that this thread will become too big with the addition of PS3/PS4. It doesn't seem as active as the old Vita threads. :/

I finished my playthrough of Bioshock Infinite last night. Columbia appealed to me much more than Rapture did, and the shooter control option felt like a huge improvement from the control options in the older PS3 Bioshock games. Now I'm itching for a new Bioshock game on the PS4 or even Vita (lol).

I love being part of the Vita family again.

I love my beautiful Crystal White.

I love the epic 64GB of storage that totally abolishes any fear of size constraints.

I hate some of the PS1/PSP pricing on the PSN store. :(

Yeah, but it's such a potentially cool gimmick. Figure our how to market it as a think nothing else has and you have a differentiator. That's the strategy for phones that's the most successful. Load your phone up with as many gimmicks (as many useful ones did possible) and then advertise the hell out of them. Throw shit at the wall and something will stick. And, Sony needs a Samsung Galaxy S3. Unless theirs ungodly amounts of advertising and cheap cost phone's, nothing they ever do will ever be an S3. Let me tell you, from my personal opinion, that phone sucks so hard. It's made out of this disgusting cheap plastic, it slows down over time, and the screen is nothing special iirc. But Samsung got it out there and made it THE Android phone. And they wrecked HTC's Flood The Market approach in the process. Now, the Z1 does have a cool absolute waterproof gimmick, and I would bet that's why it's doing as well as it is.

I mean, when the NPD are as low as they are, and Tearaway sells less than 100k, we can blame them for a lot of stuff. But the fault lies with everyone. But then again, I think we're all trying to project our meaning of success on the Vita when SCE's value of success is "Does it make money?". And right now, without advertising, without porting games en mass (Borderlands, Spiderman), Indies are flocking to it, and people are buying games for it. Price drops, memory card drops, advertising campaigns, would eat into those profits. In fact, when Sony posted lower profits for something last quarter, they blamed lack of impact from the Vita price drop for it !! If famousmortimers musings and rationale is to be believed, and round comes Vita 2k and a price drop and some bundles, and they don't make a splash, those will be the last big moves made by Sony. And I can only blame them so much at that point. I have my own reasons for why the Vita has trouble, and it's rarely brought up. I'll make a thread about what it is soon.

Jesus christ The Last of Us is amazing.

Spoilers:
I just finished Ellie's gameplay. I assume that's the only gameplay she gets anyway. Killed the guy that wanted to rape her. The entirety of the Ellie gameplay section of the game was just amazing. I mean that both in terms of the actual gameplay and the story. Mostly the story. Couldn't put the game down until it was done. It was so tense and exciting the entire time. I was actually expecting Joel to make the save at the end but I think the way they did it was much better. It was a big holy shit moment at the end. Oh man I love this game. A naughty dog game that actually lives up to the hype. Feels strange.

Same, I was just checking the store as I wanted to pick up some PSP fighting games and earlier Final Fantasys and they're all still £7.99.

I picked up a load of retail Vita games for much less than that recently so I just can't justify that price for such old games. I hope they have a huge sale on some of it soon.

$6 for PSX games is OK in my book, they gotta make a revenue out of those games far as I understand it @_@

Agreed. I'm having fun with this. Pixeljunk Monsters is good too, but Thomas is better I think.
Monsters will last you for a much much longer time than Thomas. Monsters also requires much more thinking and strategy. Thomas has a cool narrative tho. They're both good games, but I can play monsters for hours and hours and it's the better game IMO.

Stealth Bastard (sterilized as Stealth Inc. on PSN) is pretty fun. I only played it a little bit on Steam, but I've been playing the Vita version quite a bit.

I see that Uncharted 3 is free under Plus. Are these free Plus games structured like Netflix in which they rotate every few months?
PS+ games are usually added and removed every month, but there are a few (Uncharted, LBP Karting, etc.) that are replaced once a year.

Some of the more active members left in a (understandable) tizzy (they'll be/are back) and an other of the active members is maybe kind of sort of banned for a few more days.

I hate this Bioshock much less than the first one. The shooting is now average, instead of bad. And the environments are much less of a claustrophobic slog. Now they are wide open confusing slogs! The dialog is still Meh though. Over reliance on Audio Logs and Elizabeth is the only thing that's actually a character (so far, half-way through). Booker sure as hell isn't. He's just a robot.

"Booker, what do you think about all these dying people?"
"I don't know. I just want to get what we came for and get out of here."

"Booker, do you like killing?"
"I don't know. I just want to get what we came for and get out of here."

"Booker, do you hate ______?"
Say it with me everybody.
"I don't know. I just want to get what we came for and get out of here."

Hate it. Still gonna Platinum it though. Cause its an easy enough Platinum.

EDIT : Wait wait wait... Booker just expressed an opinion !! Holy hell am I interested right now !!

Blue Toad Murder Files? Red Johnson?

Both of them are as boring as the Layton.

Never gonna happen which is kinda why I gave up on PSP titles. Turrble they haven't done that, since it's a slam-dunk no-brainer to give people like me that want native resolution so their eyes don't bleed from pixels being blown up past the point they shouldn't be. :|

Yeah, at this point I'm resigned to hoping that Falcom fixes their engine and we get another game at native res.
