Playstation Store 03/05/09

they can't make KZ:L work on PS3?

I've been waiting for years to buy a PSP because they keep making better ones (still waiting, might wait for PSP2 at this point). Why can't they put PSP stuff on PS3? At least it'd be more money for PSP software.

As a PS3 dev, I have to stare at you. Menacingly.

What exactly is PoP: Epilogue? Is it an actual Epilogue to the story or just an unrelated extra level and skins? I'm asking because of the whole game I pretty much only liked the ending, and would like to see where it goes from there. Does anyone have it yet?

hm..no PoP DLC on the Portuguese Store. Guess it's time to create an UK account as well. bah.

Lord Error: some impressions here.

Additionally, why isn't every game on PSP available on PSN?

And where's SCEA with PS1 games?

What the hell are they doing over there?

/PSN rant

1) Because they make money on PSP HW solds and want people buying those, what they could do is what they're doing with Resistance Retribution where you can play it on your PS3 with Dual Shock as long as you got a PSP and the game.

2) Because Sony is retarded

3) According to them, PS1 games are coming :lol :lol

I don't think it's even nearly as stupid as it seems.

PSP sales are in the shitter because of piracy, they don't want to put PSP emulation on PS3 because it'll hurt PSP hardware sales. But software sales are a much bigger issue aren't they?

Also, they probably want to encourage DD of PSP games over UMD versions. If you could play your PSP games on your PS3 as well, I think that would help.

Especially now they're doing this online mode via PS3 thing.

I'd also encourage PSP software development because they could also sell PSP games to people who only own PS3s.

Sony made an error on the Toy Collection price in the UK. Get it at £2 off what it should be whilst you can, it won't stay like this long!

EU store has updated but you have to go through A-Z at the moment. wheelman and wrestlemania demos are there.
BTW. since when does the EU store have the A-Z section?.. also 'PS3' and 'PSP' sections?.. EU store overhaul?

Yes, they added A-Z search a while ago... at first you could only search PS3 games and the icon did not have PS3 on it, but only its description text mentioned it so it felt like having to click twice for nothing.

The EU PSN store has a good interface finally, almost perfect IMHO (they still need to add video preview for all content available for purchase as well as some screen-shots [which would help people get a taste of what they might want to buy], but I am hopeful it will come... and I hope they do it asap :)). Ideally you should also be able to browse content in such a way that under ... for example... Uncharted... you find everything about it in a single convenient location (trailers, wallpapers, themes, demo, etc...) as browsing the entire store to hunt everything down is not a fun experience IMHO (but marketing wise it might be convenient to kind of making that happen... as people sometimes see and purchase content they might not notice if they were not pushed to look throughout the store for what they intended to download).

I might be getting a new hard drive soon.

I want to go higher than 500 GB so I never have to upgrade again though.

Is there a TB HDD that will work with the PS3?
No, I don't think, unless you're into these 3.5" inch semi-external modding monstrosities. 2.5" drives currently top out at 500GB. Samsung is the only manufacturer yet to pull it off within the 9.5mm standard height. Fujitsu and Hitachi drives of that capacity are 12.5mm high, and may not fit in the bay (not sure, but easy enough to measure).

Sony would do this if they wanted to kill some PSP hardware sales. Might aswell let Nintendo have all the handheld marketshare again right? All that hard work of introducing a PSP for nothing. Seriously along as PSP is selling more or less like a PS2, this wont happen(PSP emulation on PS3...maybe on PSP2)

How is that High Velocity Bowling game? Worth the 9.99? Is it kid friendly (5-7 years old?)?

The basic controls are: Take the controller back and swing forward, as you would a bowling ball. There are a couple button pushes to choose a spot on the lane to start the roll, and to aim for a certain direction (All one button).

You can also spin the ball. The objective of the swing is to get it to register green on the meter.

Somebody recorded a video showing how the control scheme works in the game.

My little sister was pretty good at it when we played together, and she was 6 years-old at the time.

I think it's worth it, especially now that it has trophies and online play. I still mainly play offline with people in the room, and you can play with up to 3 other people (using the same controller). Plus there are unlockable items/characters and trick shots.

Oh, so it's mostly motion controlled? That's very cool.

That's an insta-buy then.

Thanks!

I bet this will have no Pat and Vanna and the puzzles will be limited and not randomized like the previous Jeopardy release.

No sale SOE, I'm better off playing Answer x Answer in RGG3.

Definitely. Its nice to have for parties, especially because you can do custom stoundtracks, so the party tunes are still blasting for people not playing and others can switch off or whatever.

You'll need to play the single player to unlock the different players, balls and lanes before the party starts, fyi.

All you guys go buy Killzone: Liberation! I replayed the game a couple weeks ago in preparation for Killzone 2, and it's still one of the greatest PSP games out there. Do it.

Downloading all the demos that came out today, but not really looking forward to them from what I hear. UT3 pack might be nice next week.. If I like the free weekend on the PC, I might pick UT3 up for the PS3.

More main franchises should have some 'arcade' version on PS3. I bet KZL-online would be an absolute hit.

I'm very late to the thread, but why are my Toy Cars £4.79 for each pack and £9.99 for the 2 combined on the UK store when the OP states £3.99 and £7.99 respectively?

the big pack includes all 8 cars + the bike that was sold separately.

Because Sony fucked up the prices. They were supposed to be £4.79 and £9.99 to begin with.

So it's just like the Wii bowling pretty much. Funny how no one knows about it :lol

I like it a lot better than wii bowling. There is more substance to it, aside from just vanilla bowling, and the swing mechanics feel better to me. It doesn't have that weird swing + release buttons at the right time thing. Your swing is just for power in HVB, not for aim, aim is handled before hand, I think it works better.

There should never be more tower defense games than HD fighters on the store.

And there's also Crystal Defenders coming too. I'd like to see more strategy games that aren't tower defense games. I'd love to see a good turn-based strategy game in the style of Advance Wars or Field Commander on PSN.

I finally got someone to share Astro Tripper with me, and I must say I quite enjoy it. Has custom soundtracks too.

Now there's only one trophy-enabled PSN game I don't own.

spin control is done with the triggers though, so not exactly like wii bowling

Still a pretty good bowling game.

Hey did you buy it? How was it? Another couple of positive impressions to go with pancakesandsex impressions might make me wanna buy this and gameshare the game on my parents PS3 and my girlfriend's.

My parents bought their PS3 mainly as a Blu Ray player, but they do play Buzz and my girlfriend plays Buzz, HSG and LBP and PS1 games, so if HVB will get them playing more then I'll purchase it.

Can't prove anything but I think I heard no. Sorry

Yep, from the previews i've read it won't support mouse and keyboard. It sounds like that's largely because they're so focused on proving that RTS games can work on consoles without it that they won't even include it as an option.

Yeah, I might have to get one of those credit card gift cards, but I don't know which ones are compatible with the Hong Kong store.
