i was going to make fun of the full game. but now that i downloaded the demo it's not actually a demo. just the interactive demo we saw ages ago lol. no actually racing.

EDIT: idon't know why i'm surprised as japan got the same thing. i was hoping it was an actual racing demo. that's what i get for not following the game.

I am curious to hear a definition of non-game re: Team Ico stuff since Shadow of the Colossus is nothing BUT massive boss battles.

It's not exactly Flower.

There's no way he's played Team ICO's games.

ICO is all escort puzzle-solving and Shadow of the Colossus is a linear progression of exploration and puzzle-based boss battles.

Despite their presentation, art, music, and intended meaning, these are ideas very much in line with 3D game design.

You climb up a ledge in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. You climb up a ledge in ICO. You ride a horse in Red Dead Redemption. You ride a horse in Shadow of the Colossus. You stab a boss' weak spot in Resident Evil 4. You stab a boss' weak spot in Shadow of the Colossus.

Examples of purported "non-games" in which there is no penalty for failure.

-Animal Crossing
-Akimi Village
-Nintendogs (I think?)

I've tried both and I stick by what I said but that's not the point of this thread nor did I intend it to be.

The point of this thread is games available on the PSN, at least historically.

SOTC and ICO both fit the bill.

This is not a difference of opinions. I'm not saying you have to enjoy ICO or Shadow of the Colossus. As a matter of fact, you're free to hate them. You'd find quite a few people who would support your stance here at Neogaf.

What I'm saying is that your label of "non-games" (artsy is actually fair enough) is just incorrect.

Both are games with gameplay systems you'll find in other games and there is a very clear goal to both. There is also very clear criteria for failure in both games.

Sounds like the strictest definition of game that I know.

It's more in the vein of a scene demo, just with some interactivity. IMO it's very nice that they released something like this, perhaps they just shouldn't have called it a demo for a game.

What did you expect them to charge? Retailers getting rid of overproduced CE doesn't mean it has to sell for less.
