Haze is really what I thought it'd be, and that's a good rental. There's nothing really amazing about it. It's just a standard FPS and if you don't have anything other to play for a few days it'll probably be right up your alley.

Yea this is basically how I feel about the demo.

I like that it runs pretty smoothly and I think graphically it looks 'nice.' But it's a wasted exclusive and offers nothing new or original.

Playing through the embassy level on assassin in the bourne demo, what a complete shit demo. Whoever said they had "fun" playing the demo have no fucking tastes in games, I'm not trying to insult y'all, just stating a fucking fact.

Impressions to follow, stay tuned.

EDIT:

Fucking loading time is ATROCIOUS.

Hand to hand combat is SHIT:

SSS block TTT repeat ad nauseum.

Hated the shooting, slow and LAME, Gears' shooting and cover system are more for spray weapon, not pin-point shooting, which is what this requires. The reticle movement needs major tuning.

Did I say I hate the QTEs?

OMFG teh driving is completely out of control. I'm sorry, Highmoon, but you need to spend another six months on this game, take out all the QTEs, maybe take out the driving and just polish the shooting, make the hand-to-hand fights quicker and more risk-reward instead of this inching job hit thing. JEEBUS WTF.

Any Encore impressions?

Wow, I didn't even finish either demos. Played half a race in the Grid demo and got to the second hand to hand combat section in the Bourne demo then I deleted them both.

Terrible demos.

Agreed totally. I bitched about it on the 360 demo thread, and there's no reason for me to believe it's a different demo than what's on ps3, so yeah, no way in hell am i downloading that horseshit. sale lost.

Not once during the game did i feel like bourne, which is why i was interested in the game in the first place. all you do in the game is press shallow 3 button combos to fill your adrenaline meter and then press a button to initiate what, a 3 second cinematic that shows you disarming your enemy? THAT'S the shit i want to be doing, and i don't even get to play that. then there's more qte bullshit like trying to roll under a closing gate. the gameplay is just so boring and uninspired.

As noted, PSN is slow as hell. However, I like the new front page for the US store. Now I think we have the best store of the three with the best organization and the best front page. Why the hell hasn't the UK storefront been changed yet? It's embarassing. PEACE.

Props for the front page layout, looks great. I'm downloading the Haze demo (actually started d/loading it at about 6:35 eastern time. It's now ten minutes to 10:00 and it's at 94%). I'm always up for a new fps. Well, as long as it looks at least solid.

Wait a minute. Did the US PSN storefront always look like the JP one with the Top Download and Most Popular lists? I swear today is the first day I've ever seen it look like that. Yet no one has mentioned it at all in this thread. PEACE.

What man, i guess it's visual gratification for me. I know it's highly lacking gameplay wise, but i'm such a sucker for jason bourne that seeing those moves being pulled off just instantly wins me over.

It's a guilty pleasure.

You could, you know, read the Robert Ludlum books which are far better and don't have more plot holes than swiss cheese. The only good thing about the movies is Matt Damon, recycling the same plot over and over again and having him act bad ass by saying "oh you look tired today" is retarded.

You can tell I don't like the movies. :)

Heathen!

yeah yeah....you're entitled to your opinion

Is it just me or does the Top Downloads/Most popular section on the PSN front page look kind of awkward, maybe they need to change the fonts or something.

Not at all, actually. Echo and PJM are both for very different audiences than GTA, though they have great crossover appeal too.

BobTheFork said:
not at all IMO Those who want the short-play puzzle style games aren't going to be too distracted by a 100 hour, open world game. At least with PJM encore, the fans of PJM will buy that no matter what.

Firewire said:
I'd easily put GTA4 down for awhile to play some new PJM!

You can take a break from GTA IV every few hours, play 20-30 minutes of PJM or Echochrome and then go back to GTA again. It'll help keep your mind fresh.

I see where you're all coming from. It's a complete change of pace from GTA4 and I can appreciate that, but as big a PJM fan as I am, I can't get myself to put down GTA. I bought Prologue, the COD4 maps and Echochrome a bit before GTA, but I haven't even touched any of them since. I'm just saying there was a downtime earlier this year where I really wanted to play some PSN games but nothing noteworthy was coming out. I even downloaded the demo of that god awful Rocketmen game *shivers*.

Ah well, better late than never I guess. Can't complain too much about quality content hitting PSN.. :p

Dude. Don't speak bad about the movies, or i will drop you Bourne style son.

I will slap you with ma book

The Bourne Conspiracy is essentialy an action game equivalent to the original Stuntman, fuck up on one portion of a canned sequence or exceed the time limit and then sit back and stare at the loading screen. Granted the load times aren't as long but still, crappy way to structure the game.

Shit, bad day to buy Rock Band. I'm downloading like 25ish songs in addition to 2 of the three demos up AND I switched from a wired to fairly iffy wireless connection last week. Taking foreeeeeeevvvvveeeerrr. :lol

Fuck it, I'm finding a long piece of CAT5 at work tomorrow and I'm going back to wired. Piece of shit $30 dlink router isn't getting the best of me again.

Everything from the shooting to the hand-to-hand to the driving is poorly thought-out and executed.

Squadmates in Haze some some interesting things. Don't know if these have been posted yet, but a few I heard:

"If you got a problem, yo I'll solve it."

and

"LEROOOY JENKINS!"

And yes I'm being serious.

I didn't play enough of Bourne to get to the shotting or driving segments, ran out of time on the rooftop section, backed out to the dash and deleted the demo.

Haze seems wholly unremarkable thus far. The jungle environments look kind of outdated, at least compared to something like Uncharted.

My god just finished playing Bourne. What a piece of shit. I was actually hyped for the game as I am a Bourne fan, but looks like this will not even be a rental. Fuck I should have downloaded the Haze demo first as it is taking foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

"Hey......Heyyyyy......Heyyyyy......Can you see me?

Do you know what I used to do before I joined up....?"

:lol Haze's writing/voice acting is SO bad.

Sorry am new to the PS3. I would like to ask if there is a text chat function in PS3 like msn?

Nope. Just voice/video chat with up to 5 other people and email.

What Bourne does have is style. I love love love the music, menus and overall HUD. GREAT work on that regard.

But the driving was horrrrrrrrrible.

I just watched that part, quit out of the demo and deleted it.

I'm also new to PS3, is there some reason I can't add funds to my wallet? It is saying my credit card information is not valid. I've triple checked everything is entered properly. Tried spaces and no spaces between the CC number, tried variations on postal code formats, etc.

I wanna buy Super Stardust HD :(

your address has to be exactly hoe you gave it to the cc compsny

PJM ENCORE is THE SHIT! having the ice tower in your initial stock adds so much more strategy.

I don't know what the hell the CodeMasters crew was thinking when making Race Driver Grid. The controls are total shit. I did finish first in my second attempt at a race, but keeping the car from spinning out or slamming into a wall was a chore. It's a damn shame too, because the rest of the elements seemed somewhat promising.

The problem with the driving missions is that they should be "tunneled", it should be a game of dodging stuff and tight turning.

That's one of the problems. The other problem is....it looks like a bunch of toy cars speeding around, i mean they look like boxes, what's up with the windshields? Why don't i see people? It's just retarded.

i actually thought the bourne demo wasn't all that bad, can see myself getting frustrated, but the takedowns are COOOOL.

Though Haze is meh...

GIRD is good, gets need for speed running for cover.

Bourne demo is terrible in every game-mechanics way I can think of, fighting, shooting, driving and all, but it still ended up being fun somehow. I think the camera working so much like it does in the Bourne movies is what's helping it be better than it really is. I liked playing through it better than Haze or Grid actually. It was something you'd expect to find on an arcade machine, and a nice throwback to Shenmue QTE+fighting days, but visually it was more like Fahrenheit.

It really did look a bit too much like Fahrenheit actually - very last gen-ish graphics :\ Only thing I really hated is the load times when you die. For a rush-rush-rush game like this, that is simply inexcusable. Will give it a rent, which is more than I can say for Grid. Now that's a game that completely disappointed me. After playing Burnout Paradise and GT5P, this just controls like complete crap.

I haven't been able to download the bourne demo. Each time i try to download it i get an error that says that i do not have enough free space on the HDD, even though i still have 3 GB of free space.

Ok so i was hoping HAZE would be mediocre at best. And it totally lived up to my low standards that i set!

But uh...yeah whats with the terrible writing and Vanilla Ice quotes?

Also the shooting mechanics seem....clunky ?...would that be the right word? So far the only thing i learned from the demo is that "shooting up" is ultra cool.
