So whats with the difference in size between the Bioshock demos for the US and EU???
Which version to download??
unless you natively speak something other than english, the US version.

EA is charging $7.49 for one fucking golf course in Tiger? What the hell? Anybody who pays that much for one course needs to be kicked upside the head. NBA 365 is even worse. What a joke. :lol

BIA is fuck awesome in every way, but turn off action cam. If it was smoother it would be one of the best looking games ever. It has that offscreen pic look to it.

:lol at nba 365

Yeah outside of the awful running cutscenes in Hell's Highway the game is awesome as I excected. The IGN reviewer must have been on drugs to rate it so low. Maybe he just watched the cutscenes then wrote the review. It's too bad Gearbox couldn't get the game running at a faster framerate during gameplay, it would look so damn good if things ran at a fluid/locked 30fps.

Gameplay is really good, much better than the previous two games and the combat is really enjoyable because of it. Going up and down stairs is awful though. Your screen jitters like mad while doing it. Very annoying. Also don't really like the camera usage when vaulting over cover. Makes me a little dizzy and I think it's really overdone.

Love all the options of what you can turn on/off in the menus. It's a shame about the multiplayer from what people have been saying. I feel like the game could have really benefited from a month or two more of pure polishing and optimizing. Would have made things even better.

Pro Evolution Soccer

And holy shit they added a shitload of movies, including Ironman, the video store is getting better and better, now all they need is a monthly subscription fee and more movies available to rent and I'm in.

Has anyone checked out "The Accelerometer" in PAIN? That's a weird one.

Yeah, I've been checking the PainLabs thing every week. The Accelerometer is pretty neat but I liked the last one, Ground Ball, the best.

I can understand why they don't let you keep these, since why would anyone buy new levels when you get these for free every week, but it would be nice if they offered them for sale at some point. Since they're pretty barebones, say about $5 for 10 of them? I would pay that.

Edit: Oh shit, I went to the blog to post my suggestion and two weeks ago one of the Idol Minds guys said "HORSE will be back with the next environment. It’s coming very soon. Like Coker and I said it is already in test." And later: "It’ll be out WAYYY before Christmas." Rock on.

How about that Brothers in Arms demo? Bioshock had a poor framerate compared to the original release, but holy hell, BiA is a chop fest. Is this another case of a really bad UE3 port? Or was the 360 version also this awful?

I swear I saw footage of the PS3 version on GT running very smoothly, though, so I don't know what's up. The visuals are pretty ugly and it runs like crap. Honestly, I couldn't even get through the demo as a result.

I always thought BiA had really poor framerate from all the videos I saw (360 version). Framerate in gameplay seemed to improve a bit but in cutscenes it was pretty much the same. Terrible.

Is there a 360 demo out yet?

The game surprised me, though, seems fun!

Wow the graphics of BiA are all over the place. From looks good (character models) to looks horrible (any vegetation) they have everything there and as a bonus LOD issues and a not always stable framerate.

Am I the only one that thinks Eternal Sonata looks gorgeous? Maybe its my tv, but the game looks stunning. I really enjoyed what I played in the demo so far.

One thing that irks me is that I can't nail down the timing of the 'Defend' action when you're supposed to hit the circle button to lessen the damage. The gameplay seemed pretty hard.....or do I just suck and need practice? lol

Either way, what are your thoughts on this demo? I was pleasently surprised.

I enjoyed the BiA demo, but it's such a shame the graphics and framerate aren't up to snuff. I really detracts from the experience, especially in a genre like this. If only it had the graphical fidelity and presentation of Call of Duty 4, it could've been an amazing game. Now it has 'rental' written all over it. :(

Will I be slaughtered for saying Bioshock has huge graphical issues?

Like what's with the text? It's all super-low res and jaggy. Actually, overall the game seemed to be running at a less-than-hd res and being scaled up, EXCEPT for the sheeting water effect, which always looked so sharp it seemed out of place.

And when you come to that dead Big Daddy in the water... I went up and looked at him closely, and the texture for his helmet... It was like those clearly defined pixels. You know, the kind you haven't seen since PS1. wtf is with that?

It is still about a month before this game comes out though right. Pretty far ahead for a demo, so perhaps that stuff will get cleaned up.

Forgot all about the update, had a busy day yesterday :P

Just the Bioshock demo for me. And I need to get back to WipEout HD...

-NBA Live 365 ($19.99)

WTF?

Isn't the 365 feature supposed to be the main new thing in Live 09? Why the fuck are they charging 20 extra for it?

So the real NBA live 09 is $80? LMAO

No, there was a whole thread discussing it. The Bioshock PS3 demo is quite terrible and fails to match the other versions. In particular, the framerate is a mess.

Wrong. Comes free if you purchase the game new. If you buy the game used, you'll have to pay for this if you want it.

Every single official video I've seen of this has looked like crap, and ran like crap (I assumed official videos were of X360 version, but who knows). I didn't even download that demo yet, and I doubt I will.

Problems with the demo were discussed in the Bioshock demo thread, you're not alone seeing them, don't worry. Try going to PS3 display settings and making sure you only have 720p checked there. Demo stupidly defaults to 1080i or 1080p mode even though it doesn't natively support them. Several people reported that when forced into 720p, the image quality becomes much better.

I have it set like that, and I think the image looks fine, the framerate however does fluctuate between 20-30 a lot of times, but I didn't' think it was that big of a deal.

It's really only a big deal when you consider that this is not the case with the 360 version (which is basically a locked 30 fps) and the port is over a year late. Still worth playing for those that have no other means of doing so, but certainly not worth double dipping. It's looking to be the worst version of the game.

Only when purchased used, the title comes with a code you punch in to acquire updates for free.

BiA: HH seems like it will be pretty fun. As already mentioned, visuals are meh and the framerate during that first cutscene was WTFHORRIBLE but besides that. I liked the destructible cover, R6 style cover system and the squad controls are really simple and easy to use. As long as this game has been delayed, I think they probably should have waited until after the holiday to release it. It would've shined much brighter during the slower summer months and it would've given them time to polish it more.

I think this might be a case of Gearbox taking on too much compared to what they can actually handle. Hell's Highway, Aliens, Borderlands all at once. Maybe it's just me but I think all three titles are going to suffer a little because of this. Hell's Highway seems like it could have used another few months of optimizing/polish. I'm curious to see what the 360 demo runs like when that comes out.

If you point your gun straight up into the blue sky in the demo and shoot/spin around you can see a fast fluid framerate, what the game should have had constantly. The second you pan down to the grass areas in starts to chug. Unfortunate because the actual game is really good. The weapons feel great. It could just be this level that runs that way, or maybe it's an old build?

The BIA framerate isn't really that bad. The cutscenes are crap but the gameplay is serviceable. I actually think it's one of the better looking 3rd party titles on the system - texture work is good, lighting isn't bad, gun models and player models look very good.

It's about as good as anyone can expect a PS3 UE3 game to look imo.

The cutscenes in BIH seemed like they were running at 24fps trying to give it a movie-like feel. However the cover is very clunky and about the only thing the game had going for it, it my eyes, was the gore. I love me some gore.

That was definitely below 20fps, I might go as far as saying it's around 10fps.

I bought Burnout Paradise because it was on the store. Why the fuck not? Criterion rocks.

I'd buy it too, but will it have Japanese voiceover? The US demo didn't have the option... Was the 360 demo also like that?

Yeah it should have Japanese VA. At least the Xbox retail version did.

I just got done with the Eternal Sonata demo. Why the heck didn't no one tell me it was a button mashing rpg? >.< I thought it was turn-based all this time and really wish it was that way! I stink at blocking and having to flick through the various cameras in battle to first find baddies then to make sure you are close enough to actually hit them instead whacking away at air! bleh....

Fallout 3
Nuclear winter in Washington, D.C. and mutated humans and beasts are really not so happy about the way things turned out. Do you dare leave the bunker and confront their radiation-amplified personality issues?

Resident Evil 5
The series that invented the term “Survival Horror” is back and better than ever on PlayStation 3 - just don’t call them “zombies” – they HATE that!

Dead Space
Talk about creepy. Our “trio of terror” is complete with a game that’s banned in China, Germany, Japan. When you see the gameplay, words really fail to describe… well, actually, how about “Strategic Dismemberment.” Also included is an exclusive graphic novel!

Shaun White Snowboarding
Well, it’s not exactly spooky, but Olympic Champion Shaun White is a monster on any mountain. Veronica meets “The Flying Tomato” in Park City, Utah for a personal tour of his new game.

New Downloadable Content:
Included in this episode is exclusive access to SEGA’s Valkyria Chronicles demo. Qore Episode 05 also contains three different shooting galleries. Clear the galleries to reveal a horrifying bonus video segment.

Finally, check out the “What’s Hot” section for Audrey Cleo’s roundup of the top Blu-ray releases in October.

Joke post? I thought the demo was great, but one of the best looking 3rd party games? Really?
