Playstation TV $39.99 @ Gamestop

I'd instantly trade my $100 Vita for this if someone found a way to hack it and give it library parity. I'm not satisfied with the compatibility in its current state.

I believe somebody is working on a hack to make all Vita games compatible, I saw a video of someone playing Uncharted: GA on it, not sure how they'd make it past the light part though.

I still do not understand what this is. So I can have ps4 in one room and use PTV to remote play in another so I do not have to shift the console around the house?

Also, did this not play Vita games as well?

Remote play for PS4, also plays (most) Vita games, digital PSP, and digital PS1 games. Even gives you the option to do local multiplayer on PS1 and (very few) Vita games. Also, PS Now for PS3 games.

Shucks it has no PSP drive, many PSP games I'd check out for sure.
Definitely not ideal, but you can rebuy a lot of the PSP's library digitally and most will be compatible with PSTV. It's quite nice as a PSP on the TV player.

How important is a memory card for this? Does it have any internal storage?

I wanted the system but don't want to pay ridiculesly prices for the memory card.

It comes with 1GB on board, which is pretty much useless and is disabled if you insert a memory card. You're definitely going to want a memory card, at least a 16GB, probably 32.

For people that own one, how do you like it? I've heard conflicting reviews on its abilities.

PS TV/ Vita TV is a niche product that you have to study and look if you want, If you want a video streaming service, this aint for you, this is for Vita/psp games (psx classics cant go full screened and are stuck at their Normal size) Not all games are playable, you'd have to check which ones are Via anyone but sony's official list since its never updated, I love my vita tv, for when i play rpgs on it full screened on my 32" tv (Doesnt look bad imo).. for $40 and you'd have to get a memory card, you cant go wrong imo, just look up more info, and see if you would want it yourself ( i do also own a vita and i bought this day 1)

$40 bucks is worth it, IF you don't have a VITA. I had one last month for a few days but decided my VITA remote play was a better experience. No party chat on PSTV unless bluetooth sucks.

Bit tempting, but does Ys Celecta run on it? Doesn't seem like it.:/

It does not. It's one of the "biggies" to me that don't work on it that hurt it. Enough DO work on it though I feel that it's still worth it, especially for that price. Not to mention as someone said, it wouldn't exactly shock me if the community itself got the games that don't work on it up there since it's literally just a checkbox internally if the game will boot or not I think.

Ultimately, do you like Vita games, and want to play them on the bigscreen? This is your chance to, and if you have an extensive digital library, then it's great. Better of course if you already have memory card(s), otherwise physical games work just as well.

What is normal size? 4:3? Or is it a tiny box on the screen?

I believe so, but for some dumb reason Vita tv doesnt allow you to change screen size on it unlike psp/psv/ps3(i think that allowed for it) but you can still use multiple controllers on it, example you can play 2 player -4 player psx games on it.

If I got one of these it'd probably be for playing PS1 titles primarily since I play most of my Vita stuff on my actual Vita.

Anyone who has both the Vita and TV do this? And what's your overall opinion?

So can I switch my memory card between my vita and the pstv without having to format the card at all?

Edit: nvm, question answered!

It will mess up the folders, but no need to format, you'll just have to authorize the vita tv to use the content. (like how people do it for ps4 and ps3 content.

There are a few Vita games that support local multiplayer on it too - Skullgirls and Divekick, for example.

Thanks Wario!

I grabbed one just in case I ever need to play my PS4 in another room. I'll probably still play all my Vita games on my Vita though.

I bought one from Amazon when they were at this price, but haven't used it yet. It's somewhat useless without a memory card and I refuse to pay more for a memory card than I did for the actual device.

I'll either nab a card during a big sale, or wait for the platform to tank and they go on clearance.

If I hooked this up at a buddy's house could we play split screen with me on my console and him at home streaming with the TV?

If you use different accounts and you both own the game. I believe if you try to sign into the same account with the same game, only adhoc multiplayer will work. Might be on a game by game basis though.

Is this worth it if you have a Vita?

Do you want to play games on tv? If this isnt a big thing, you dont need it. (It was for me and i had about 3 memory cards 8,16,32 so it also allowed me to share my psv with a friend so we could local play mon hun clones)

Good price, bought. I've been looking to get one of these for my friend, and this is too good of a deal to pass up.

You really only need a large card if you download a lot of games. If you're mostly going to play physical games, an 8 or 16 will be fine. I had a 16gb card in my vita for almost 3 years before I went bigger.

Bleh, I wish this came bundled with a 4GB card at the least like Amazon's bundle did. Then it'd be a instant buy for me. Might as well wait to see if a sale similar to amazon's happens again.

Can you just swap your vita memory card to the PSTV; then back again? Will it mess up the bubble layout?

I have a 64GB card, currently in my Vita

It's gimped, doesn't have Netflix, but I really like mine. Playing on a big screen with a DS4 is so much more comfortable.

Besides, $39 is below the point of regret.

Bought this at launch, and barely used it.

To be fair, I had thought going forward new games would actually support it. (Kick & Fennick just got patched for PSTV support yesterday)

Mmmm own a vita already, but at this point being able to play some of the games on the tv as wsell for $40 is worth it.
