Skipping the obvious gaming podcasts

Good Job, Brain
The Indoor Kids
Nothing Matters
Gravity Falls Gossiper
This is only a Test
The Vergecast

Definitely check out good job brain, probably the only podcast I'd be willing to share with other folks in real life

Giant Bombcast
Breaking Bad Insider Podcast (official podcast from the shows cast/crew)
This Week in Tech
The Vergecast
Windows Weekly

The Basketball Jones
The B.S. Report
Giant Bombcast
Idle Thumbs

Roderick On The Line - Great podcast with Merlin Mann and John Roderick of the Long Winters. Probably my favorite podcast.
This American Life
This Is Only A Test
W.T.F.
Radiolab

RADIOLAB

Only need one.

I would agree, except, idle thumbs is equally as good for my gaming side.

Radiolab and Idle Thumbs are the only podcasts I subscribed to and have never (and will never) drop the subscription.

I have been thinking of subscribing to 99% invisible though, everything I've tried from them has been pretty good and they are a kind of Radiolab style show, just on a different set of topics.

Anything that talks about the major leagues like PL, Bundesliga, La Liga, CL?

for this you want the guardian's football weekly (actually twice a week). they talk about premier league and la liga the most but other countries too, with panellists from pretty much all over. it's really funny and informative — helps me keep track of everything while living in asia.

Man this thread made me go back and listen to the 1up yours recap, god damn was that a great cast. It takes place during the beginning of this generation of consoles and it's really interesting how some people thought this gen would go. Garnett the host is often wrong in his assumptions and predictions (bluray players can't play dvds) and is never shy to make a dumb sexual innuendo, oh and he's also old. Shane is the biggest fucking Sony fanboy known to man but his points always come off as endearing. He now works at SCEA. Luke seemed to be more of a 360 guy and always seemed to butt heads with Shane. Luke was not afraid to call someone or something out as bullshit. He now works at Bungie. John Davison is British and was mostly correct with his assumptions about the generation.

i admit having a bit of a man crush on luke back in the day. if you're reading this, sorry luke. i'm over it.

CAGcast - (Cheap ass gamer)- Funny. Probably my favorite

Podcast Beyond - For Greg Miller who is always entertaining

Joe Rogan Experience - Great shit. Hard to keep up with how much content he puts out though.

This is only a Test (tested.com)

Rebel.FM

Gamescoop!

Giant Bombcast

The Comedy Button

The Geekbox

The Adam Carolla Show
- Only the Dr. Drew Episodes. I was a huge fan on loveline.

Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew Show (new)

Bertcast Podcast (Bert Kreischer) (new)

Legendary thread (r.i.p.) - The same 6 Luke Smith episodes over and over. *wipes tear from eye*

Boers and Bernstein- Chicago sports centric podcast

Most of the time they are funny and talk about a variety of things.

He might, I think he still posts on gaf.

Oh and they mention gaf once in a while on the show.

edit- the Ninja Scooter story was one of the funniest fucking things.

Wow. I didn't expect to see someone mention these guys. I've been listening to them on the radio for a decade. They are amazing.

I listened to WTF with Marc M and it wsn't really my thing. MBMBaM so far sounds pretty awesome

.

My Brother, My Brother and Me: The only podcast you truly need, literally one of the most consistently funny productions across all forms of media.

Freakonomics Podcast: Kind of like the occasionally interesting parts of NPR's shows distilled into ~30 minutes of enjoyable and informative audio. Learned a lot of stuff from these, and there's lots of great conversational factoids in them.

I listen to Comedy Bang! Bang!

Not subscribed to it, though. I just pick out random episodes with guests that I think I will enjoy.

Smodcast, Mysterious Universe (Plus member!), Fatman On Batman, Hollywood Babble-On, Lifehacker, Waking From The American Dream (sometimes) and Jay & Silent Bob Get Old.
Also The Stephanie Miller Show but that's just a recording of the day's radio show. I've been contemplating signing up for the Thom Hartmann podcast since I always miss that show.

Radio Lab is good too but I don't subscribe to it so I always forget about it until I don't. heh.

The most over rated podcast, in my opinion? WTF With Marc Maron. I just don't get what so many people see in it, honestly.

One thing I've found is that I can't listen to any podcast done over Skype. The audio quality is just such shit that it breaks the theater if the mind illusion. I probably have passed up a lot of good shows because of that.

Adam Carolla Show
Freakonomics
Econlog
John and Ken (its a radio show but they put out podcasts.)
Weekend Confirmed
Bombcast
RocketBusta radio
Common Sense/Dan Carlin
Girl on Guy/Aisha Tyler
Gamers with Jobs
No Agenda
History of Byzantine
Scott Sigler Podcast
This American Life

Subscribe man. Every episode is great and I've been exposed to a bunch of great comedians through it. Harris Wittels ya'll.

What Acid08 said, eventually you'll be a fan of the Chocktaw so there'll be someone you like in every episode. And you'll learn about people like Andy Daly and Eddie Pepitone.

Giant Bombcast
The GFW and Hotpot best of's from This year
Irrational Behaviour/Interviews
Bethesda Podcast

I have some episodes of the Popcast and Double Fine Action cast downloaded but I haven't listened to them yet.

My Brother, My Brother and Me makes me almost die while driving due to laughing too much on a weekly basis. That's the only non gaming one I listen to every week, though I also occasionally will listen to Nerdist.

Just a couple

GiantBombcast
Player one Podcast
Smodcast

I used to listen to a ton more but i find that i really don't need that many. Quality over quantity. Hear great things about radiolab.

Also GFW,1upyours ThisYear collections are essential. Frigging hilarious. I'll go back to those every 2-3 years and laugh just as hard as the first time i heard them.

Heard good things about Sklarbro country as well.

As soon as i hear anyone eat into the mic during a podcast i'm out forever so i don't listen to that many these days. Ricky Gervais podcast is my all time favourite.

Weekend Confirmed

Radiolab always good, always interesting.

The Moth Podcast - people telling stories without notes in front of an audience.

This American Life

The /Filmcast

Intelligence Squared (NPR hosted) - relevant debates by experts of any given topic they're covering.

Hardcore History - recently been gotten into this. Been listening to the fall of Rome, 3 episodes in, each an hour and a half, 2 more to go to have the whole of what happened related in a fairly solid narrative. Impressed, and engaged.

Tobolowsky Files - Stephen Tobolowsky telling stories about the entertainment industry and generally his life. The guy is a master story teller, truly engaging stuff.

The Pod F. Tompkast is my top choice, followed closely by My Brother, My Brother and Me. Also brilliant, but not as consistently are Comedy Bang Bang, Doug Loves Movies and The Todd Glass Show.

This Year Collection does great recaps on older podcasts. The hotspot has members of the bombcast from a few years ago and 1up Yours is also considered one of the better gaming podcasts.

Thanks for plugging us!

I should note that we also do best-ofs for podcasts other than gaming shows. We have best-ofs for The Adam Carolla Show, for Daves of Thunder (the greatest comedy podcast of all time), for Loveline, and for politics and culture shows like Left, Right & Center and This American Life. I don't mean to be so link-heavy, but I notice that many of you also listen to genres other than gaming, and we cover all that stuff.

Also, just to give an update: I've noticed people asking for an Uhh Yeah Dude best-of, and we'll have a 2012 best-of for that in the first week of January (along with 2012 best-ofs for the Giant Bombcast and The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe).

The Basketball Jones
The B.S. Report
Giant Bombcast
Idle Thumbs

Roderick On The Line - Great podcast with Merlin Mann and John Roderick of the Long Winters. Probably my favorite podcast.
This American Life

Radiolab

RotL. Listen to this man. Best podcast out there.

The Bugle - Political comedy podcast with John Oliver & Andy Zaltzmann

This is Only a Test - Tech/Science/SF hipster podcast from Tested.com(usually with Gary Whitta), they also do a smaller podcast with Adam Savage called Still Untitled, which is well worth listening to.

The Anfield Wrap - LFC podcast.

Mike & Tom Eat Snacks - Two comedians eat & review snacks.

Adam & Joe - Unfortunately this has now finished but it was a comedy podcact from the makers of the Adam & Joe Show.

8-4 Play.
GiantBombcast.

Forgot to mention you guys. Loved your loveline and gfw recaps.

Which Adam&Joe ones are best? Did you mean the XFM/BBC shows, or did they do proper podcasts?

Bombcast
Planet Money

Both are terrific. I've survived many road trips by myself just listening to backlogged Bombcasts. It's great.

Bombcast is the GOAT followed by tested when whitta is on. Also listen to good job, brain! and the nerdist which gets really amazing guests on.
