Pokémon Black/White |OT| - There are HOW MANY now?

Personally, Generation III is my favorite Generation behind V. A lot of people feel differently, though. Too much water, too many trumpets, whatever. I fucking loved it, and I say fuck the haters.

If they follow the same schedule they did with the DS series games, that would be correct.

New Gen (DP/BW)
New Gen+ (Pt/Grey)
Remakes (HGSS/RRSS)
New Gen (Gen VI)

However, if they follow the Advance series it will look something like this.

New Gen (RS/BW)
Remakes (LGFR/RRSS)
New Gen+ (E/Grey)
New Gen (Gen VI)

It's completely up in the air as to which they'll go with, but I'm willing to bet that it will probably be the former.

I wonder what I will do with my old Pokemon, not sure I can be bothered to copy them over. Though the idea of having my collection spread over two cartridges doesn't sit well either. Bah

No Battle Frontier. We'll see that again in RRSS/Grey.

There is, however, the Battle Subway. It's a lot like the Battle Tower from Crystal/Emerald/DP.

There is also tons of post-game content. Kind of spoilery I guess so don't highlight if you don't want to know.

Three large towns, dozens of trainers, a post-game story of sorts, several water routes, and a few other special areas.

Get a friend to loan you his DS for a while. Or, if you're planning on getting a 3DS, just transfer them yourself.

I'll be doing the latter. I keep all of my Pokemon on the most recent games, so I'll be transferring my stuff from SoulSilver/Platinum up to White, and any overflow will go to Black.

Apparently the transfer is really easy and painless, so there's no reason not to do it.

Gear Station is essentially like the Battle Tower, but there really isn't anything along the lines of Battle Frontier in the game.

Sapphire was the first game I actually owned (though I did share Red with my brothers), so I have some fond memories of playing it. Actually, now that I think about it, I let my friends play through some of the story, so I can't say I've actually completed it; I'm waiting for a remake so I can go through the parts I missed out on :)
 
I've got a question about if its possible to send over TM's to black and white. Can you make a Pokemon in Pearl/Diamond hold a TM then send it over to Black and White? And if you can will this TM now become infinite?

You can't migrate Pokemon holding items IIRC.

:( damn! I was happy that you could with ruby/sapphire.

I just noticed recently that sturdy has become more useful as an ability. Now you cannot get 1 hit ko'ed while your health is full. Definitely will try to train Golem this time due to such as I can retaliate with heavy damage.
 
The transferring process is really easy, very similar to using pal park in all the current gen games. The only downside is
it makes you play this mini game where you have to fling pokeballs at your pokemon with a timer going. It can get tedious and frustrating at times.

Otherwise, r/s were terrible in general, and what's perplexing to me is that most people I meet that liked r/s thought d/p were awful.

I just played Sapphire (been on my backlog forever, and I wanted the regi trio) and the first half of the game is great. But once you get past Lilicove City, it's like one giant ocean zone and there just isn't the variety of water pokemon to sustain it. I burned through dozens of repels, sick and tired of fighting Pelippers every six tiles. There's one area which is three routes full of currents. Ugh. But up through Lilicove City, I was enjoying it. I even learned to love the weird pokemon designs (which seem to be the direction B/W is taking).

I'd be thrilled if they remade R/S, but they need to do something about half the game having FREQUENT battles against the same three pokemon.
 
I preordered both Black and White, I'll keep one and give to other one to a friend (haven't decided which one yet, probably White). I currently own Leaf Green, Soul Silver, and Platinum; so it's the first time I don't wait for the inevitable Grey version, or a remake.

I usually just finish the main story and then put the game away, I've never touched any post-game content. Maybe that'll change with B/W.

FYI, if you're getting both, the Kmart deal (assuming you have one around) is probably your best bet if you don't want to mess with reward points

Guys, I actually missed out on the last few gens of pokemon. HG and SS and Diamond/Pearl.

I'm only rocking a DS lite waiting for the 3DS, but where do you think a good retailer would be in Canada where I could get these new for cheap? I'm looking at FS and BB and they are charging less for Black/White than the older ones...

Also kinda off topic but will 3DS play DS/DSi games? I'm assuming my DS lite won't be able to play the new black/white... :(

Damn OCD kicking in wanting to catch all the pokemon again!

Yes, the 3DS can play all DS games (and DSiWare can be transfered to 3DS). I don't live in Canada so I can't help you there, though. Online might be your best bet, however. I still see HG/SS for normal/new price (not higher) in most retail stores where I live (US).

I just noticed the deal Kmart is doing for Black/White, that is fucking sweet. I was going to order both on Amazon for the combined credit, but this is definitely better.

i don't think pokemon games ever reduce in price. you could probably find the older ones on sale at some point but you'll have to play the waiting game and constantly search. amazon.ca might be a good bet to try and find sellers. i just bought heart gold recently (had soul silver since it's release) and it cost me 40 :( haha. but really, out of all the games, soul silver/heart gold are worth 40 bucks. i put 100 hours into it by just doing the story mode and catching most of the legendaries.

heart gold and soul silver cost more than black/white because they have a pokewalker included (tamagotchi-like thing that you can transfer pokemon to).
 
Many places (Canada) are starting to have sales on Pokemon titles from the DS generation. Local mom n' pop shops have been slashing prices on them as well. Obviously in anticipation of B/W.
 
If anyone is just buying one copy in the States, I'm trying to get it half off by piggybacking off someone at KMart. Anyone willing to help PM please. I dont care what version I get. :)
 
So I havent played a Pokemon game since blue and red, though I think it is time to jump back in with black and white.

I caught all 151 back in the day - how difficult would that be to do now?

Can anyone let me know which the best games to buy are, and the trading methods between them, so I can get a complete pokedex in black or white?

I thought about starting with the new games, then working from fire red, emerald, soul silver and platinum. Good plan?

Also, are there any pokemon that are impossible to obtain now - how easy is it to get them now the wifi events are over?

there is nearly 700 pokemon now, so it is considerably harder to get all of them than with red/blue. you can technically get all pokemon with black/white because of the global trading system. it really helped things out. if you want to make it easier on yourself though you could get platinum and soul silver which would nab you most of the pokemon from previous gens.
 
Catching the 151-156 new ones in BW is pretty easy - no worse than getting 151 in Red/Blue, certainly.

If you want to go beyond that and catch them ALL, though... yeah.

What bothers me is if I tell myself to catch them all, I will probably need to buy Grey, but I don't want to buy 2 games from the same set. I also don't want to wait for Grey, and it might be 3DS-only anyways.

It really sucks that they won't make the new Pokemon games contain all the past Pokemon post-game.

well i like that it's only gen 5 pokemon (that is how it is right?) until you beat the pokemon league or get 8 badges or something. i fucking hate when it's a new gen and you have the "local dex" it includes fucking ponyta and pidgey.

i'm gonna challenge myself to catch all of the new ones :)
 
Yeah, so apparently NoE is having a Black/White launch event next Thursday in Leicester Square with GF developers in attendance.

I'm going. Should be fun.
 
I just need an absolutely legit deoxys, an arcues and all the new ones to have every family, then it's just breeding and evolving to catch them all again.

I said that last year with SoulSilver and actually did it.* Then of course, one year later a whole new generation comes out. FML

How are we supposed to get the unique legendaries from B/W if we only have one game? Just trade equivalents for the Pokedex entry and then trade back?
