Nope. Wake me up when their solution for the manga is "lol time freeze" and weird plot that deviates from the games and when they stop being edgy but then pull back.
The only good manga is Electric Tale of Pikachu, essentially the best version of the anime.
Misty was stale during the Johto saga so they got rid of her for good over a decade ago. She no longer makes appearances in the anime either since she hasn't appeared in an ep since Hoenn.
May was the best handled companion, then pre-Johto Misty, then Dawn, then Iris and finally Johto Misty.
It was planned to contain Celebi and lead to some big story arc, but was ditched in favor of making it the star of the fourth movie. I suppose the writers couldn't think of another way to implement the GS ball into a storyline, so they just got rid of it at the first chance and hoped the audience would forget.
He fucking doesn't use his OP as shit Charizard. He deserves to lose and die miserably for not getting with Misty.
But seriously, writers must hate Ash.
Also his Pikachu seems to revert to level 1 at the beginning of each series. My guess is they leave him for being so incompetent and then he catches another.
Don't forget the Orange Islands. Ash is totally the champ there.
Edit: The creator of the Pokemon anime stated that if Ash/Satoshi ever became the champion and/or a Pokemon master, then the series would end. The series is supposed to be about strengthening yourself and strengthening the bonds with your Pokemon. Ergo, the series won't ever end.
Doesn't help that Pikachu somehow loses to chump scrubs at the beginning of every region, you'd think after battling for so long he'd be lvl 100 by now

Actually the only time Pikachu "resets" is at BW. And Charizard is actually not that powerful. He only bested a common legendary... who was weak to him lol
His true powerhouses include Sceptile, Heracross, Snorlax, Bulbasaur, Infernape (definitely), and Krookodile.
Levels don't really exist in the anime so it's not that "lazy writing". Plus his loss against Trip's Snivy is fully explainable.
Pikachu had recently been hit by Zekrom's attack. This had severely weakened it and prevented it from being able to use its attacks.
To put it in game terms. Level 100 Pikachu VS Level 5 Snivy. Pikachu has 1 HP left. It uses a move, the move misses. Snivy then uses its move, it hits, Pikachu is knocked out.
It's still wholly disappointing for people who've been with the characters since the start and basically see them 'reset' every time they enter a new region. I get why they do it, because they're teaching a whole new generation of Pokemon fans how the world works.
But they should do what they did with D&P and start off with a new character like Dawn and have her be the one to make rookie mistakes or ask questions first.
Don't forget the Orange Islands. Ash is totally the champ there.

Ash sort of died and had an out of body experience with a Ghastly, Haunter and Gengar, and Pikachu once lost his memory and sided up with Team Rocket for an entire episode.
I completely get all that, but it's still annoying to watch. Especially when the guy he loses to is another one of those smug assholes who always expect to win.
All I know is that this is the most awful character in the show and he by himself made the show incredibly annoying to watch.
May was kind of annoying, too, and Dawn essentially is just a not so annoying May. The beauty contests that started with May, and continued on with Dawn I felt were just far too bland and uninteresting.

Meh, every shounen ever is about believing in yourself to overcome limits and making friends and stuff yet Kenshiro or Goku always beat the shit out of everyone and that's good.
Max wasn't that annoying until the dub switch in Battle Frontier.
The Contests were also the only thing that saved the show after how terrible Johto was and boring Misty became. It's pretty much the whole reason Misty was permanently dropped from the series and ignored in the following arcs.
Almost everyone who watched Johto back in 2001-2002 complained how horrible the series was, how poor the original trio was, and Misty's staleness so the show was revamped for Hoenn.
Who knew all that complaining from 10 years ago would make such a difference?

Thing is that ever since Misty left, a lot of people have been clamoring for her to come back... she even makes little appearances here and there compared to May/Dawn who get forgotten about completely. (Misty's lure she gave to Ash, she was in several reanimated scenes lately) Honestly, at some point, Misty was going to have to leave the team since her situation with her sisters compared to Brock's. (Brock has a million brothers and sisters/a mom and dad who will take care of the gym for him while Misty uh... always gets the short end of the stick in that family)
It counts but the main quest in Pokemon is to get to the Elite Four and beat the Champion which Ash hasn't even gotten the chance to do yet since he always gets beaten by some po-dunk trainer just before it. Like what the hell was with that Jon Dickson guy who won in Johto? Or the silhouetted unnamed ones who won in Kanto? If you're going to have the main character(s) and all their rivals/friends lose during the league... just what message are they trying to bring? :|

Watch the recent season. He got his Charizard back and is using it. Just as badass as ever too.
Misty hasn't physically appeared in an episode since Ash came home from the Hoenn league back in 2005. She never showed up in person again since Battle Frontier started.
Both May and Dawn returned for huge story arcs in the sagas after they left, while Misty didn't get anything.
Misty's the only main character who hasn't had a real appearance, not counting flashbacks, in over 7 years. Even Tracey appears more than she does.
She got four Chronicle episodes that focused on her, two two-episode returns, two cameo appearances during the Hoenn league, and the hour-long Mastermind special; she received far more screentime during AG than May did in DP or Dawn in BW.

She got 4 regular episodes, and Mastermind doesn't count because May was in it too. So that puts her a tie with May. Dawn came back for what...9 episodes or so in BW? So Dawn got the most.
As for the Chronicles episodes, Tracey was in like 7 of them and they didn't continue them in the following sagas so what do you expect?
And she had no appearance in Battle Frontier, DP, or Best Wishes. That's 3 sagas in a row. And no, a flashback doesn't count even if it was reanimated.

Misty got her post-season story arc and I'm also counting flashbacks. I get that she hasn't physically appeared since then but May's pretty much been forgotten about (not appeared since DP) and Dawn will probably be completely avoided too from now on compared to Misty who gets little references here and there.
(I really hope they show Iris as the Champion in XY)
Misty - left in Gotta Catch Ya Later!, returned a bunch of times during Advanced Generation (Togepi Paradise, watching Ash in Hoenn League, Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon, and the episodes after May/Max left mid-season for a total of about eight episodes)
May - left in Home Is Where the Start Is, came back for Wallace Cup for about five episodes (and honestly, she looked better here imo)
Dawn - left in Memories are Made of Bliss, came back for Junior Cup/Meloetta arc for about nine episodes mostly due to the Junior Cup which lasted four episodes in addition to the five that they spent around Cynthia's villa
Honestly, I think Misty will probably get referenced the most out of any of Ash's companions after Brock. Everyone else is sort of just... eehhh.... brushed away by the creators after a while? I'd be surprised if they brought back May/Max and Dawn or flashed back to them at some point during BW/XY.

And this is all completely false since May and Dawn are put in all the openings and endings the same way Misty is.
I also love the fact that you're bringing up something like the Misty lure which hasn't appeared since the beginning of DP back in 2007 and never again since, despite Ash going fishing many times since then.
Misty doesn't get special treatment at all. You can't very well show flashbacks to Charizard's Kanto eps without Misty or Brock can you?
Naw, BW is pretty good if you ignore Iris or can manage to tolerate her being annoyed by annoying people. I do love Axew though. IMO, it's really fresh compared to the seasons that came before post-Johto. The Team Rocket competence helps and they aren't blasting off all the time even when they started doing that again.
My magic poke ball points to "most likely". Hasn't this been the case for most of the regions?
I might be wrong on some of these but here's what I think the groups have been:

Becuase all they do is reboot Ash and Pikachu every season, I wish they would just use new characters.
They use Ash and Pikachu at the beginning of every season show to teach kids about the world, but I wish they'd more often use one of the characters Ash is travelling with. AG did this, and I thought it was better that way. If they used a new character every season, they'd be able to make each main character the champion at the end of each saga, which would be nice.
My hope for Kalos is to have Ash travelling by himself, just him and his Pokemon, but I have no doubt he'll be partnered up right away.
Of course both of them count if we're trying to determine who received the most screentime after their departures, especially since Misty was the most focused on character in the Chronicle episodes featuring her. They probably didn't continue the Hosos because none of the other characters warranted specials to elaborate on their journeys after leaving the main group for whatever reasons, and even then, Dawn and Brock received a Chronicle-esque special each right after DP concluded.
