Am I just tired or is there a new pokemon in this video?

Look at the end when the 3 guys are standing there, and there are 3 videos runnin in the backround. the bottom left one, a trainer will release a pokemon that looks like a floating blob, that I have never seen before.

Is this a new pokemone? Or just somthing ive missed.

There were no new pokemon revealed in this video, but they did reveal that zubat makes a return.

Full list of new pokemon http://serebii.net/diamondpearl/pokemon.shtml

Yeah I didnt think so, b/c i check that new list like everyday :p

So that thing is a zubat?

hmm...that dosnt look like a zubat AT ALL even on the second look..

I hope when I name my pokemon I can use American(English) letters like with Nintendogs how you can pick what you want to use when naming your dog.

It's a Zubat, facing left, its wings flutter upon release and then stay in the downward position.

I do agree that as the versions progress and sequels come out, the Pokemon concepts get weaker and weaker. Still, I am hella pumped for this version and I will get it the day it comes out, play it for three months straight and never touch it again. Can't wait.

What? Is that the cool thing to say now-a-days? Gen 3 had the best selection of pokemon types and arguably the most intersting aesthetics out of all three games. Heck, the monster mis-step with GSC was made up by the overall world design, but the GBA games were clearly the best. I'm sure what you're experiencing is just a case of rose tinted glasses.

hmm i take it thats the same with Europe as well then?

kinda curious i also havent played since red or blue but might give diamond a whirl...

HAY NINTENDO

MAKE THESE STRATEGY RPGS
How about no.

I don't care how many spinoffs or sidegames they make or what genres they are, the RPG formula for the main game works and shouldn't be changed.

I think Squeenix and Nintendo should release Pokemon DS and Dragon Quest 9 on the same day.

Fun times

Yeah, see, they'd prefer not to be held responsible for societal breakdown.

And if a Fire Embem-esque Pokemon SRPG ever came to light, I'd buy them day one. Day. One.

What's the current U.S. release date?
If this can make it over here by Christmas it would guarantee Nintendo's total handheld domination this gen.
If it's released next year, like in March, it won't hav near the same effect and Sony may still remain a formidable opponent (in the West).
If NoA can't get it localized this year then it should not be released until next x-mas or Oct. for maximum effect (as was Pokey Gold/Silver for GBC) IMO.

Are those three supposed to be the starting Pokemon for both Diamond & Pearl?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to translate this, but... wow.

Has anyone heard anything about connectivity with the GBA games?

The Pokemon from the older games actually get transferred if you have Diamond and Pearl in the DS slot and either Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed or LeafGreen in the GBA slot. This isn't trading but outright transfer. Serebii.net seems unsure if the transfer is permanant, but if it isn't, then the obvious restrictions apply: transferring back only Pokemon and items that were available in the GBA games. Only 6 Pokemon per day can be traded, although I'm sure messing with the DS's firmware clock can remove that restriction. The features will probably be accessed after getting the National Dex in Emerald, or repairing Celio's machine in FireRed/LeafGreen. Ruby and Sapphire will probably work instantly. Likewise, something in Diamond and Pearl must be accomplished to read the GBA games.

Diamond and Pearl also connect with Pokemon Ranger, in order to capture Manaphy.

Didn't they have two different sets of starting Pokemon in the past games? Also..in those scans..what's the Beaver(lookalike) pokemon name?

They had 1 set for R/B/Y.
1 set for G/S/C.
1 set for R/S/E.

And 1 set for this.

Yeah, I forgot about how they were all the same. I just started with a different Pokemon in each version I got so I guess that's where the confusion comes from.

Regarding the new scan, here's some translated stuff:

http://www.pokebeach.com/
http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml

Each has a tiny amount of information that the other doesn't, e.g. Pokebeach explains the logistics of the new attacks while Serebii gives names to some abilities that PB doesn't.

Regarding the GBA transfer...

The information has been updated by then--though, oddly, not on Serebii's site. He explained it in a news posting, but not in the D/P section itself.

Basically, all of the above is correct, but add:
-Yes, the transfer is permanent.
-When you transfer (not trade) the six Pokemon, they don't automatically appear in your box; they're put in a Safari Zone-type place where you have to recapture them. Thankfully, 1) they're the only things living there, and 2) they have some special Poke Balls with a perfect capture rate to get them again, so it shouldn't take long. Not sure why Gamefreak felt this was necessary, though, except maybe to "recalibrate" the Pokemon to check against AR hacks? They had no problem with direct transfer on Pokemon Box...
-You can't transfer another six until you've re-caught the first six.
-It's six per day per cartridge and per card, so... two GBA games could each transfer six a day to one game card, or one GBA game could transfer twelve a day between two cards, etc.

Edit: Also, as a sidenote...

It's funny to me, but just between these two things I feel like Pokemon is going to out-"Animal Crossing" Animal Crossing even without the fighting. I mean, in ACWW the worst you can do to someone is plant a pitfall seed, not set them on fire, and capturing the flag sounds better than fishing.
If D/P doesn't outdo ACWW for social mischief, chicanery, and house-building in a relatively confined area, the next Pokemon games will.

Ugh, a little disappointed was hoping that rumor would work out about the starting pokemon being something other than fire/water/grass. Though at least we get a penguin! That'll probably be what I go with, but the monkey actually looks neat too. >_>

I just kind of guessed we'd start out with at least one of the Pokemon on the cover, but nope.

OK, cool. You can transfer PKMN. Ace. I shall put a few more hours into Leaf Green in anticipation. Oh, and let's not forget:
You'll likely need a certain number of badges to control your higher lvl. pkmn. Dur.

Best solution: start with all three :D

I'll import both versions, but if those of you who are importing only one need a starter Pokemon other than the one you chose, I'll probably restart my non-main game several times and have them available for trade for GAFers.

Yeah, I'm not worried about that and actually like that feature. I wonder how long before people have control of their higher level Pokemon. Odds are..I'll get my backside handed to me for a while.

I might only be getting Diamond, if that's the case I'll hop in line to trade with you.

That's... Pretty damned awesome.

I know! Now I'll be able to do something with the Pokemon I build up from September 28th until 07.

Wow, ant...

Where can you make out a turtle, penguin, or monkey from those...

It's ok, I still love you from our Metroid Hunters days
