Pokemon GO update removes footprints from nearby tracker

The funny thing is you all will soon realize that catching Pokémon in the wild becomes pointless given that high perfection IV Pokémon can really only be hatched

Whatever. I don't care. If they can't figure out how to fix it, then yeah just remove it. It was annoying seeing the 3 footprint symbols under every single fucking pokemon no matter what I did.

Have you heard of your lord and saviors stardust & candy

Nests brah

Starters, dratinis, etc all have nests, which solves the candy problem and requires 0 tracking

As for dust, it doesn't matter what kind of Pokémon you catch and you also get a ton from hatching eggs and gyms. Which again requires 0 tracking.

Did they just break third party trackers in the last half hour or so?
It looks like they nerfed it and made it so you need a 5 second delay between scans. Both apps I use already allow me to adjust that, so it's no big deal here.

This is a really dumb thing to complain about. Its functionally the same.
But it's a step in the wrong direction. So far they've kept their word in regards to bi-weekly updates somewhat. But they nerfed the nearby function weeks ago without an update by changing something server-side. Now that they've actually patched the steps out, it's even less likely we'll receive a fix anytime soon.

The previous fix would have just been an adjustment server-side. Now we need another patch.

It's not broken. It's a feature that was intentionally shut off on their end. They know how to turn it back on. They're just not going to.

I'm 99% sure it'll be added back once they figure out how to implement it and relieve server strain
Removing the feature doesn't reduce server strain. The only way it reduces server strain is by encouraging less people to play the game.

Haven't played the game since the footsteps stopped working, anyway. Having nothing but trash Pokemon everyone and then never knowing when I'm actually closer or further from actual worthwhile ones kinda killed the wind in my sails. At this point I'm more interested in playing a real Pokemon game.

Yeah, now that I've hit level 20 and there is nothing to get in the areas I am in I don't see a point. Hatching eggs is the only decent thing to do now and I'm kind of tired of it at this point since I don't get great stuff. Not seeing a whole lot of different pokemon.

What exactly happens at level 20 that makes the game so pointless? Seriously asking, I have no clue about this.

XP thresholds for each level shoot way up. Some people don't like this as it effectively cuts off your access to Lucky Eggs, Incubators, Lure Modules etc without buying them.

If you remove the buggy features then the bugs go away

Keep it out until they can get it working again, it sucks to see something nearby you want to find and not be able to play the minigame to locate it. I just load Pokevision right up now.

Not really. My friend found 7 Dratini yesterday, He said it appeared every 15 minutes near multiple lures.

Lures are not the same as nests. Realistically I've seen plenty of dratinis spawn in lures near bodies of water even though they don't normally spawn there.

This thing is turning into one of the biggest fumbles of all time. A game that should have had terrific lasting power is being hamstrung by a complete and utter lack of communication on Niantic's part. This is gonna be one for the history books.

It's embarrassing that a company in 2016 can fuck up a launch this bad. Server problems are whatever. But how hard is it to pay a PR person $40k a year to alleviate 90% of their problems?

All it takes is an active Twitter account, some emails sent to press outlets, and an official blog. Have updates every 2-3 days with goals, issues, concerns, and so on.

This isn't hard and it's so obvious.

Kind of crazy how so many companies are learning how to market using Pokemon Go, while Niantic themselves seems to have no clue how to engage fans through media.

and so the urge to delete the game gets even harder to resist, but resist he does the question is for how much longer?

Honestly I was hoping for more variety in the appearance of Pokemon but nothing all the same shit.

Personally this was the feature that kept me playing, not the gyms, not the pokestops or the usage of items, but the encouragement to walk around finding "treasure" in the form of the pokemons I wanted guided by a proximity gimmick.

I havent played this game since the 3 step bug hit me and wont play this game until they bring it back.

I haven't really wanted to play since the footsteps glitch happened. That was THE thing I enjoyed. This is fine if they're fixing it, but if it stays out for any reason... :/

You should hit them up because you seem to be an expert.

That's not the only thing the update removed. Seems to have removed every bit of info that said I had progress. Post-Update, it wants me to start from scratch despite my login info being the same. (Post-Update it asked me to sign up again...)

I had so much stuff. Now it's treating me like I'm a new player. This is disheartening.

I wouldn't be surprised if after looking at usage charts the game is suffering a steep decline in popularity. There's just nothing to do, nothing to keep you there at all. Shortest lived Nintendo fad ever.

Question is why do Nintendo and Niantic think that's hunky dory?

They also make it ridiculously hard to catch Pokemon so you ha e to use multiple balls to catch them because they are greedy. They also took out the trick to catch Pokemon with one ball because they are greedy.

Yup, until they take it down because they see this as cheating or shit like that.

then I'll jailbreak my phone and feel no regrets when my account gets banned lol

Games losing steam hardcore. I saw no one in the park today playing when just last weekend there were 50-100 folk chilling there. Lures also scarcely being used now. Theres not enough to keep you around.

Everything is a high enough CP to make them annoying to catch, but not high enough to be the best one in your inventory. So a 500 CP Clefairy takes 4 pokeballs to catch, only to get immediately transferred. Then you realize you're wasting your time.

For real. The hype almost completely died around last weekend during comic con. I was expecting everyone to be playing, but instead the game was the butt of everyone's jokes. People are only talking about how awful it is now, especially after the presentation.

Most of us use pages like PokéVision anyways so...

But yeah this could be a huge turn off for the millions of people that look for Pokémon based solely on the nearby feature. They will don't know how close or how far they are from the Pokemon listed there and it could get frustrating pretty quickly, making the work of catch them all a truly impossible task.

Like, for real! In my case, If it wasn't for Pokévision, I would had stopped playing since the day the footprint indicator got screwed and I would be filled with nothing but Pidgey's and Rattatas. It's incredible that the main feature of the game wich is finding Pokémon, has been an absolute mess since the game launched and I hope Niantic fix this soon :(

You mean the most fun aspect of the game that wasn't working? I mean, if it wasn't working...they may as well remove it.

I mean, it all is still pretty silly.
It worked awesome when it was in. It was so much fun. The day they broke it was the day that the fun was sapped from the game.

Same thing happened to me, turns out they automatically logged me into the wrong gmail account. Pretty crazy.

And why did they remove the battery saver mode? It would occasionally bug out but 95% of the time it worked fine. I really hope they made the app drain less battery to compensate.

How dare they remove a non-functioning feature that did nothing but confuse users, most likely while they come up with a way to fix it. What am I going to do without that literally worthless piece of information on my screen?

FYI they ip banned a bunch of VPS providers which is why pokevision is down. Hanke hates the idea of players tracking pokemon so much that he removed footsteps and shut down all hosted pokemon maps on the same day lol

It boils down to a communication problem. If they said they were removing it while fixing the problem since the bugged out steps were confusing users, most people would be fine with the change.
