Pokemon music appreciation thread R-2

Man I feel soooo bad I don't play B/W with the volume on all the time. Although I'm sure I'll grow into its music over the next couple hundred hours of playtime...

Yeah you've got to at least hear every track once.

Oh man, Pokemon was my child hood. Listening to those songs brings back memories :').

The last Pokemon game I played was Fire Red I think. I heard the other Pokemon are bad (Peal/Diamond and Black/White).

Old thread bumped - Must be a junior ;)

I fucking love this thread.

The theme that played during the Charizard vs. Magmar battle on the anime is absolutely incredible.

I found Black/White music to be really different than prior entries...for the first time in the series history, I didn't really like the majority of the tracks. I suspected a different composer was brought on board, as the style was very different, and I guess I was correct since the credits listed some other guy in the first spot where the composers were listed. I may be wrong, but I didn't recognize the name. That would explain why most tracks didn't feel very "pokemonish". Particularly the town music..I don't thnk there was a single town track I liked...and in prior entries, I LOVED pretty much every town theme.

There were some good tracks of course (probably the ones done by Masuda and Ichinose)...but far too many dull ones. Very disappointing, since I love Pokemon music more than words can say.

I thought that change was a good thing. It's a huge part of the reason they felt more "fresh" than previous games, and considering the fact that Unova is far away from the other regions, it actually makes sense. Besides, the battles themes at least were all very "Pokemon."

Despite the fact that I had never played the original GameBoy titles, when I first played SoulSilver last year and got to Ecruteak City I had the eeriest wave of nostalgia. Absolutely love that track.
Because it was the Blue Field theme from Pinball.

I just blew my own mind. Fives months later.

I love the soundtrack of every Pokémon game, and I appreciate the reimagined music in HG and SS, but I can't stand the midi synth they used for Ruby and Sapphire. Maybe it's because I played Ruby way too much but the main melody high synth is exactly the same in every song. That Deoxys theme is epic until it kicks in and makes it feel like every single other battle song in the game.

How good is the Black/White anime soundtrack and is it available yet? If it's anything like the other anime soundtracks it has to be god tier.

I always loved the Champion themes. The one's from Red/Blue/Yellow was amazing, giving a sense of dread never experienced before in the game. It just screams "You thought you defeated the League and won the game ? WRONG !".

Usually, I prefer 8bit versions of most songs, but the remix of Lance's Theme in HG/SS blows everything out of the window. This is what I call an epic battle theme. It's still my favorite Champion theme.

We also have Cynthia's, which is also magnificient.

And then, we have... This, from Black 2/White 2 (warning : name of the champion in the video title). It is a great theme, don't get me wrong... But it doesn't fit a Champion's theme ! Where is that sense of dread, of power, of "You're gonna get your ass handed to you !" ? Instead, I had the impression that I was fighting an army of sugar-high Togekiss !
(Once again, I repeat : Great theme, but wrong application).

Hopefully, we have
Colress's
theme.
