Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Dual Pack announced for North America

NA Customers: We want figures/steelbooks/special stuff like everyone else!!
NoA: How about 200 potions??

Guys, they're not trying to give incentive to buy both. They're just trying to give a single SKU for both, and giving a tiny gift for the players to get both.

I honestly don't get why a discount is expected.

Cool a bonus! 200 potions am cry...
I wasn't planning on getting both anyways

its too late, gaf has gone hyperbole now..

Yes, but who does that benefit? There seems to be no point in giving a single SKU for both if there is no incentive to actually buy it. The "tiny gift" is too tiny to matter at all.

No discount for getting both games, but 200 potions? How about something more useful? Give me a break, this dual pack is completely worthless and benefits no one. How is it any different from buying each game separately?

I haven't played Pokemon in a long time, but if memory serves me correctly, I hardly used any potions because I had much better items and obtained them rather quickly.

Not that I was going to buy it anyway, but this is really stupid.

It's just for efficiency really. Many people buy both versions, either for them or one for them and one for their significant other. It's just a case of efficiency, with a tiny bonus.

Jesus, why not a Keldeo or something?

That'd be unfair to people not buying both versions. Can you imagine the rage if they locked out an event Pokémon to be exclusive to this? Seriously.

They really can't win.

The part that hits home is that this is not an extra given by somebody who plays the series and thought it would be a great bonus. Somebody who never played the games for more than 15 minutes decided that this is their equivalent of raining manna from heaven. I will echo the pokeball sentiments. I understand you can sell 200 potions and get 150 pokeballs. The point is that it's ridiculous that you are supposed to do this.

I've gotta admit, after X/Y I wasn't planning on getting these games anyways, thankfully it seems I'm not missing out...

Why not pokeballs? Or a variety of potions, for the 99% of players who never go through 100 regular potions in an average playthrough?

IMO the kind of bonus that is a good compromise between something worthwhile but not creating an exclusivity rift would be, for example, a Master Ball, or a shiny (but common) Pokémon.

Potions? I run to the nearest Pokemon Center.

And $80 in the States will likely be $90 in Canada, which negates any savings (they're $45 each here).

Selling 200 Potions gives you enough for 100 PokéBalls

Would it'd have been ok if they started us off with hundreds of burn heals, because they could be resold? >_>

Can you understand why people would think it's a stupid bonus?

Are you kidding? A shiny Pokémon would cause havoc.

There's no saving. It's literally just a pack with two in. They're not trying to entice you to buy both versions. They're just giving an option.

They realize there are people that are going to buy the 2 anyways, at least with this package they will know how many people actually do it.

If they give out a cool incentive then they will actually tempt more people to buy 2 at the same time, this is not what they want, they would rather just get the repeat purchases from people that were going to do it anyways.

Its business 101 people, props to Nintendo.

Lazy bundle defense force has arrived I see.

Doesn't save money.
Doesn't save space.
More packaging.
Convenience? Grab one item or grab two items sitting next to each other.
Only bonus is a very meager one.

It certainly isn't something that'd entice someone who only buys 1 entry to buy both.

That's because that's not the point of the bundle. They're not trying to entice people who buy one to buy both.

The only person defending it is Joe, the administrator of the largest Pokémon fan site. It's pretty comical at this point.

Mean :p I'm just trying to clear up misconceptions about it.

Neat, I was going to buy both anyway and I like the box art anyway.

No one gives a fuck about the potions guys, and its not a preorder bonus, so chill.

Nintendo doesn't give you discounts on their biggest 3DS game this year? What a shocker. The SSB4 3DS pack with two copies also wasn't any cheaper. This is just a (very) slightly more conveniant way to buy both games for those interested. And (if my memory of potion prices doesn't betray me) 30.000 Pokedollar if you sell your 200 potions? Not an awesome value, but it's not like they price-gouge you.

It's a stupid business decision. The same company that removed paper inserts from their games to save money is now manufacturing boxes for a double pack that isn't going to sell any extra copies. There is zero incentive for consumers to buy it.

It just one more thing to add against NoA who continues to not give a shit.

They are giving us the games, what else do you guys want? Steelbooks? Figurines? Exclusive Pokemon?

If you are not buying the game for, you know, playing it, then why bother buying it? Sure, extras and incentives are nice and will do a great job of more people buying the game, but we are here to play them because we enjoy them.

Its just feel awkward how much as a culture we care about preorder incentives.

Fuck the pandering for exclusive version stuff. This is fine.

Would 500 free freeze heals also be a legitimate bonus?

This has nothing to do with preordering. This is about giving a nonsensical bonus that is absurd to anyone who has actually played the series.

Would 1000 Awakening sprays be a good bonus for buying the games together?
