Pokemon X and Y, 7 months later

So what is GAF consesus of the games? A step on the right direction or a letdown?

I think they were a good entry, but weaker than the Black and White series, and I feel the next entry will be much better since gamefreak will have a better grasp of the 3D view. Or atleast I hope.

I really liked them, but they were weaker than the last gen. I kinda give them the benefit of the doubt because its the first game on a new system and the first 3D game.

Did you really need a carriage return there?

Otherwise, I was pretty impressed with the scale of the game, but yeah, the technical problems were distracting.

The announcements of Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire are most likely the reason XY were so short in the first place.

I loved the game but it was super easy compared to any of the previous games, I don't remember fainting even once lol. I mean the games have always been easy but this takes the cake.

XY is awesome and I can't wait to see the improvements in the upcoming games.

stop playing after i found out i can't have rose colored hair

wtf gamefreak

Now I await for savior of the 3DS aka Alpha Sapphire

EXP share was a great addition but the game wasn't designed around it at all. The trainers desperately needed more pokemon to use, and more post game content wouldn't have hurt.

The core gameplay is easily the best in the series and I really like the transition to 3D despite the performance issues. This being said, Kalos is one of the less interesting regions in the series to me so I'm more excited for Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire and feel like they will probably be the definite gen 6 games.

I thought they added a lot of great concepts (such as the clothes and appearance customizations), but it was really easy and short. I never lost a battle.

The animations were amazing though, and I can't wait to see what they do going forward.

Camera in lumiose city is complete ass and so is the design of the city. Unlike other pokemon games where places are regularly apparent by view most of the shops look the same. The routes between towns also feel much smaller and the game has passable post game content. 7/10 for me

I liked it, however:
- I felt like there was not enough to do after beating the game, especially since I had just played P:HG and P:B2.
- The multiplayer aspect of this game though was nice, although I miss the emoticons to tell who I am trading with my opinion of what he is doing.
- I hope they fix the framerate, because it was very distracting at some points.
- Some new aditions like Wonder Trade, Super Train were cool, and even though some people may not like it, I liked the new Exp.Share.

They were decent. The main city really annoyed me with load screens, the engine was nice though.

Gen3 still best gen for me, bring me dat Omega Ruby.

I loved it. I honestly couldn't get into the other ones since Gold/Silver as much, but I was ridiculously addicted to X when I got it.

I liked the game but as others said the story mind as well not even be there. Felt really detached from the overall world this time. New game in a few months though so hopefully it is filled with improvements.

Worst main game by far in the series. Felt rushed as hell. Best multiplayer and metagame tho.

EDIT: I should explain myself better. Reasons for being the worst:
-Complete and utter lack of postgame
-Heavily lacking atmosphere. I didn't like the Kalos region much.
-Too streamlined. Not many side things to do, and not an engaging enough story to make up for it like BW had.
-Too bloated. 150-200 is the magic regional Pokedex number. 450+ is just too much by far.
-Mega Evolutions are a fun postgame concept. But they're not very fun in the main game, especially with being limited to only 10 of them for the duration of the main game.
-Too easy. Exp. All is a great idea for the post game, when you're trying to complete the Pokedex, but it just makes the main game ridiculously easy.
-The Camera really hurt some locations. Overhead camera would've made it so Lumiose wasn't a fucking headache, and a better placed camera would've helped fix the worst area in a Pokemon game, Azure Bay.
-The game gives you too many Pokemon. If you use your starter, the Kanto starter, and the Lucario given to you to show off Mega Evolutions, you have half your team given to you. And it's kinda hard not to use them, because they're all excellent to use.

My general opinion is still RSE=FRLG=BW>DPPt=BW2=HGSS>XY.

2>6>3>5>4=1.

2nd best thanks to streamlining and added features, but with a poor post game singleplayer wise and not the best 3D transition but at least it is one.

Now you know what I'm REALLY excited for, dual analog stick 3D Pokemon on Nintendo's next handheld.

I liked it, but once I finished the main story, that was about it. So yeah, really lacking in the post game. Hell, it's pretty lacking in wi-fi events too.

I will say I was very tempted to replay this recently but luckily ORAS means I'll hold off on that.

Had some very nice changes in interface and online, but both the main story and postgame were very lacking in my book. Normally I don't mind buying the opening pair of a new generation, but XY left me kind of burned, especially since the roster of new Pokemon was really small compared to past generations, and the difficulty was too weak even for a Pokemon game.

I'm expecting great things from ORAS.

I enjoyed it. Could have used some more post game content, and the giant city sucked, but I thought the pacing was fantastic.

Not enough post game content ruined it for me. Was a pretty decent game otherwise.

I think I put the least amount of hours into this game, out of all the other Pokemon games. After I beat
the Elite 4
, I was pretty much around lvl90 with all my Pokemon. Even EV trainig was easy, so I couldn't even zoom around the map and train in certain areas for EV. There was nothing else to do after that, so I just stopped playing. Not sure if I'll buy Omega now, but I do hope they keep the whole 3D thing.

Seems to be a trend in Pokemon where the original game introduces new concepts and then the next installments of the generation work to tap the full potential. Although even taking that into consideration, XY is silly amounts of easy and has no post game.

More surprising than anything is I think the complete lack of events we've had in the mean time.

I liked it, but the exp share basically destroyed any challenge the game might've had. Being 10 levels ahead of a gym leader without grinding is a little disturbing.

Underwhelming, like always the franchise evolves at a very slow pace. I got tired before I finished it, a first time for me in the series, not saying that the game is bad or anything just that it doesn't do it for me anymore and it offers no challenge (at least for the many hours I played).

I really enjoyed the 3D models; Pokemon has never looked better! On the other hand the whole game felt a bit rushed, and the difficulty was waaaaaay too easy, really disappointed in that aspect.

It was great. Added a lot of great features that the series really needed.

The trainer customization alone sold me completely.

Definitely needed more post-game content though. Gen 6 ended up being my second favorite generation right behind Gen 5.

It was okay, but I was expecting something totally different.

I hadn't played a Pokemon game since Diamond, and it wasn't nothing special.

It was fun though.

I'm on my second play through. I am not enjoying it as much as I did the first time through, but I am playing with mostly pokemon that can mega evolve and with exp share off. I rarely replay games.

I didn't even put more than 20hrs on it. I restored the electric flow to Luminose City and then get bored of the game. Games is super easy, the story ain't engaging at all and the rival just makes no sense.

I still haven't finished X because of fucking Lumiose City. It's awful.

That and the fact that if you leave the game for about a month and come back, there's absolutely no indication of where you should be going or what you should be doing.

I thought they were good. The content packed Black and White games marked the true "revival" of the series, though. Easily better than Gen 3 or 4.

Top 3 gens:
2
5
6

I've never played a Pokemon game, and have been putting off playing my copy of Y since it came out, but oddly enough, everybody saying it is too easy actually makes me want to give it a whirl.

What's wrong with Lumiose City?

Didn't get that far myself. Don't think I'll pick up anything else in the series unless it goes online fully. I don't see why we are battling NPCs anymore, I want to fight unpredictable human beings 100% of the time.

To me, XY was not as good as Platinum, Black/White and Black 2/White 2, but it did a lot of things right, like the move from sprites to 3D models and the fewer amount of new Pokémon (seriously, there are too many already). I am hoping there is a third version (instead of sequels) and that it improves XY, like Platinum improved the abysmal Diamond/Pearl versions.

There is no such thing as "consensus" about a game, btw.

Ive been playing pokemon since day one. That said, the gen vi games did nothing for me. I dont care about the metagame so the post game and main story and world are the biggest draw for me. All the effort went into the battles in my opinion. Everything else for me sucked. Once i got to the big city i completely lost the will to stop playing. So boring.

Cant wait for the RSE remakes. Much better story, world, and post game. Plus GameFreak's B-team is their best team.

So far gen vi is my least favorite gen.

Gym leader music was a let down. The song itself is really awesome but I dislike that they took out the Gym Leader's Last Pokemon fanfare.

Story/single player is whatever and is on par with the rest of the series outside of missing challenge mode. New EXP share and huge distribution of Pokemon meant you can switch out teams pretty easily without having to take ages to grinf, multiplayer is great but needs a bit more polish (removal of emoticons, GTS needing full summary of Pokemon)
