Pokemon X and Y, 7 months later

While the game was fun, the graphics and style was great, the engine was pretty slow and the bag was clunky imo. Much preffered SS HG's bag system.

Never did I feel as though I needed a certain Pokemon type or deviate from the Pokemon team I had and levelling was never a chore so the difficulty was pretty sub par. Rival was pretty tame, and was definitely no Gary Oak or Gen 2 or Lance dude. Screw friends battling one another, I want badass cocky mofos to whoop my Pokemon into shape.

The new Ruby and Sapphire will be great I'm sure but these games def need more post game content instead of just the catch em all content. :(

And i already explained this. Team one lays the foudation and puts up the frame of the house. Team two finishes the damn thing. Which house do you want? A or B?

If i had the willpower id skip the first game of every new gen especially as the hardware becomea more complex. It is like GF is under time contraints and just cany do everything they want to do in time. Id rather pay full price for the complete experience.
Did you? All you said was B > A.

I'm saying that it's rather more complex than that.

And anyway, the idea of skipping the first game of every new generation or delaying it a year is not something that would be entertained. You can wish for more post-game content, or whatever, but X/Y are 30 hour + games with tons of online options. Lets not forget cash money either. This is a business, after all.

My two daughters have been playing it religiously since day 1. My son has been out of the loop until a week ago. He's been playing it from the time he gets home from school, until bedtime lol.

All three are super excited for the next ones.

I brought it up in the OR/AS thread. Should have explained that bit.

And waiting out for the second iteration of a pokemon game in a new gen is certainly something that can be entertained by the consumers. As time goes on, the games released by the "B" team are increasingly offering much more content and an overall richer experience. This gen might be the last time i buy the first new pokemon games in a gen. For me it simply isnt worth it. Im not speaking for Gamefreak. Im speaking for me as a consumer which is the only thing any of us shoukd concern ourselves with. Nintendo has billions of dollars. Theyll be alright.

worst part about x & y is the almost entire lack of endgame content, absolutely dire.

also, they need to ditch the morally ambiguous villains and friendly rivals. i'm getting sick of the reams of dialogue both spout about "changing the world for the better" or "we're friends because pokemon blah blah blah".

N worked in black and white, but fuck the characters in x and y were so bland.

Honestly, X and Y was fun for the time I played it, but overall, it's another Pokemon game. The only reason I didn't trade it in at Target this week is because I've put too many hours into the game to give it up.

the new moving 3d models, trainer customisations and wonder trade was a great addition. i like those features a lot, especially wonder trade

what i didnt like was team flare, and their fufu ass hair. what a bunch of lamos

there were also too many rival friends. it would have been better to have some sort of traveling companions/assistants instead

The even more lack of a challenge for the main story for Pokemon X/Y super turned me off. They even give you strong people gift wrapped for those who can't/don't know how to build their own team, c'mon son.

Yeah, but he's not always at the lead. This is why we have A-team and B-team terms flying around.

Masuda's team is known as the A-team in the Pokémon fandom.
Oh, OK. I always assumed that B-team works on remakes and 3rd versions cause the remakes would take about 2 years since they already have the base game, new Pokemon created, and etc. while with 3rd versions they have the mainline games as the base, and just need to do some slight changes.

While B-team is doing this, A-team is working on the next generation of mainline games which would take 3 years which has stuff like new Pokemon, new region, new mechanics, and etc. That seemed like an appropriate dev cycle to me, but I'll take your word for it.

I bought the game on release, and after many pointless resets I started playing it seriously in March, so I can't really give a more viable answer than other people. But I beat the game in April and I'm still enjoying the post game despite what people are saying about it. I'm mutating berries, trying to make lots of money with the Amulet Coin, trying to get better in the Battle Maison (my highest streak is around 15), Wonder Trading...

Also this is the first Pokémon I've owned where I felt the incentive to complete my pokedex. Working on it...

This. Another reason why i didn't like X and Y was due to the fact that i beaten black 2 about a week before. That game is better hand down from single player standpoint, but I noticed that i'm really getting tired of pokemon as a whole.

Alpha Sapphire is the last version i play

Yeah, it's generally like that but Masuda and his team also work on some of the later stuff each gen.

Regardless, Game Freak games are basically objectively better later on in each generation. Probably a mix of understanding the tools that they have and knowing what works well.
