Last election made zero sense. The American political landscape makes zero sense.

I'd much, much rather have Biden or Franken. But I'm confident Winfrey could win AND surround herself with viable, intelligent, qualified people. And, yes, that is all we need at this point.

My fear is democrats run someone completely unrelatable like Warren, or somebody like Harris or Buttgieg who I feel might be much bigger stars in the heads of the far left than they actually would be in the national spotlight.
Your suggestions are a black female billionaire talk show host and giver or bees, and Diamond Anita Hill 100 million year old Joe Biden.

There is no common thread as to why these are sound suggestions to run in 4 years. You may as well be picking names out of a hat.

Dep. of Agriculture getting a 21% budget cut is fucking hilarious. These rural Trump voters probably have no idea how much they benefit from the federal government.

Biden was literally the architect behind the 1994 crime bill.

There's no doubting this budget sucks hard.

But, looking at the bright-side... The sheer amount of campaigning the Dems can do against it for the mid-terms is going to amazing. At this point, the only significant group who the Dems can't target as being worse off under Trump (and, consequently, will be better off under a Dem) will be the military.

And even that is questionable, depending upon how easily they see Trump disrespecting the uniform.

So Trump's budget involves cutting all funding for the Appalachian Regional Commission.

Something something economic anxiety.

This budget is really weird and really hard to sell to a lot of Trump's core regions.

Agriculture is getting huge cuts. How do you sell that to farmers that got you elected?

It kills off ARPA-E entirely.

This plus the NIH cuts is like....you know every future oriented, high tech industry? fuck that shit.

....

also fuck farmers and miners while we're at it.

Actually, this is exactly what I would expect from Paul Ryan. Did Paul Ryan write the White House budget for them?

Because we have had this exact same discussion before--didn't want to keep hammering home the same point. The two aren't similar at all, but both could run and win. Both have different qualities that are appealing to voters.

“When you start looking at places that we reduce spending, one of the questions we asked was can we really continue to ask a coal miner in West Virginia or a single mom in Detroit to pay for these programs? The answer was no,” Mick Mulvaney told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday. “We can ask them to pay for defense, and we will, but we can’t ask them to continue to pay for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting."

SCREW. THIS. GUY.

So what has happened to Steve Bannon's economic nationalism? Where's the jobs bill? Where's the infrastructure bill? Where the plans for renegotiating trade deals and/or drawing up better ones? With the exceptions of the border wall and Muslim ban, everything Trump has trotted out so far has been typical conservative policy positions (e.g. fuck the poor, fuck government, etc.). Didn't Bannon make a big out of his and Trump's populism, that it was to dismantle the Republican establishment and engender the hatred of conservatives?

Exactly which receipts do you need?

Her successful television show?

Her successful magazine?

Her successful cable network?

The small army of people who have had their own successful careers launched off her brand?

I need specifics.

Son this argument is just as bad as the same one for Trump.

The white people affected by this are collateral damage in hurting minorities I suppose.

Oprah's appealing quality is...?
She's Oprah?
She has memes.

Joe Biden's appealing quality us?
His creepy not creepy old man memes?
The Biden Bill.
His white man-ness.

Basically memes are the key.

It's clearly why Jason Kander should go from unemployed man to Sec State.

You joke but positive means are more likely a measure of social capital.

Trump's White House has no legislative sway over Congress right now. They'll have even less after the health care bill fails. They are either uninterested or incapable of producing sound legislation or even guidance to Congress.

? It's a direct quote with video footage.

I'm pretty sure a direct quote doesn't include a break in the statement as if he paused, nothing was said in between, and then continued talking. It was obviously just a joke in response to what the other person said about not forgetting. It's stated in a manner that makes you believe he just said that unprovoked.

The_Donald idiots are rock-hard over Trump's suggestion that he has proof about the wiretapping and something will come out soon. These people actually think he's a master manipulator. I guess they forgot when he made the exact same claim about the Russia stuff with a specific day that "evidence" was gonna come and nothing ever did. It's honestly fucking pathetic.

Only Oprah actually is a self-made billionaire. And most of her business ventures are successful.

Trump is still plenty successful. Obviously Oprah is more successful. But being more successful doesn't make a bad argument a good one. Being good at business does not equate to being good at governing. If you want to criticize Trump for thinking he can run the country like a business, don't support Oprah.

You know Richard Nixon still had over a fifth of Americans supporting him before he resigned.

The new generation of those people are r/the_donald posters today. Ignoring them is the best possible way to preserve your sanity.

But he really doesn't forget. He also said the first part unprovoked. He's "joking" in the sense that he likes to say mean, humiliating things that he honestly feels under a paper-thin veneer of jocularity, mostly in situations where it is impossible or uncivil to respond in kind. That's his "sense of humor".

Indeed. Some people think it's OK to say mean, racist, sexist whatever things if they are adding a tinge of "funny" to it. The "it was just a joke bro" crowd. Might work at 18 but by the time you become an adult it's a terrible character flaw.

My dad is just like that and a huge Trump supporter because he feels he is just like him and through Trump's victory he is vindicated for all his meanness and abuse over the decades.

My personal strat is to remind myself that these people are quite literally just the same people as the 4chan red-pill pseudo-alpha-male fucking losers and they start to feel a lot less threatening. Just a bunch of socially incompetent morons living in their parents basement with their gun collection next to their MLP plushies. Going out to a bar once a week to stand there alone before they go home and jerk their miserable small dicks and then post online about how they turned down some whore or showed up some beta losers while they were out.

Hope this gets some exposure

Sebastian Gorka, President Trump's top counter-terrorism adviser, is a formal member of a Hungarian far-right group that is listed by the U.S. State Department as having been ”under the direction of the Nazi Government of Germany" during World War II, leaders of the organization have told the Forward
Several commentators also noted that in his 2008 doctoral dissertation at Hungary's Corvinus University, Gorka presented his name as Sebastian L. v. Gorka. The ”v." is an initial used by members of the Vitézi Rend.

But Gorka did not use the initial only in academic papers.

In June 2011, Gorka testified in front of the House Armed Services Committee. His official testimony did not list his name as Sebastian L. Gorka, but rather as Dr. Sebastian L. v. Gorka.

”Of course, only after the oath," György Kerekes, a current member of the Vitézi Rend, told the Forward when asked if anyone may use the initial ”v." without going through the Vitézi Rend's application process and an elaborate swearing-in ceremony.

Biden? Seriously? The man is one of the most well-liked political figures of recent times. Last poll had him like a +25. He has a strong record in the Senate, a lifetime of political service, and was a popular VP. He isn't afraid to call people out when they're wrong, but supports his party strongly.

Donald Trump: Maybe I won't sign this bill if it doesn't help my voters

Freedom Caucus: This is Obamacare light, make it a real Republican plan.

Paul Ryan: I don't think this bill can pass the House anymore, we'll tweak it.

Every Republican Senator: Dear lord please don't make me touch this mess.

All of the above: Obamacare is a disaster because it doesn't cover enough people and costs too much out of pocket. Also it's socialism. We'll have a better version. For free. With blackjack and hookers.

For 2016 in hindsight, my biggest worry about biden is his TPP support, which I think was a big reason the rust belt shifted compared to the rest of the country.

But by 2020 will that matter anymore.
