Presidential elections are like the Olympics for politically-based media. They come every 4 years and are supposed to be huge money makers in viewership and ad revenue. Having an obvious blowout is the absolute worst thing in the world for their existence, so they will do everything they can to make it sound like this is an actual dramatic contest. Just go back and look at 2008 and 2012, which anybody paying even the slightest bit of attention could have seen weren't even going to be close, and see how desperately they tried to make races out of those. Right up to and including Fox News and Karl Rove absolutely losing their minds live on air as the results were coming in.
