What should they sell you on now?
good games? that's what sold me on 360.

That's one pet peeve of mine with the voice commands. You have to say "Xbox Go To EA Sports NBA Live 14" or it won't work. "Xbox go to NBA Live 14" won't work.
Games and your friends have a much better chance of selling the One than Kinect I'd say. If anything Kinect is a barrier to people buying the One.
Games like Gears let you fine tune your grenade aim. Better than flailing with your hand holding nothing, and hoping the kinect properly recognizes your power and direction.Tapping a button doesn't allow for the degree of finesse he was talking about. You can't control the power of your throw in most games and no game allows you to have more than 2 arcs.

Xbox 360 didn't have drastically inferior ports though right? I'm sure if awesome games are on Xbox One people will buy it, but will ENOUGH people buy it? Just look at the Wii U. It's not a direct comparison, but it arguably had the best exclusive lineup last year.
If you don't think Microsoft is competing first and foremost with Sony here, you're ignorant. The install base is set entirely around the core audience who will pay full price for your product. If you can't establish a good reputation there, you're in for a struggle. The last thing Microsoft is focusing on is the competition with Apple and Google for the living room when they're pacing far behind the product aimed directly at beating them.
Yep, and my statement still stands. I don't believe the Kinect has any meaningful use in games. You think it does.
Which takes me back to my first reply you had an issue with, where the hell are all these amazing Kinect games? There haven't been any in over 3 years of Kinect being out. There wasn't any in the Xbone launch, and there aren't any in the foreseeable future.Sure do. There's tons of potential. The more inputs a game has the more immersive it can be. That's just obvious.
It's interesting that you can (nearly/sort of) compare what Xbox one would be like if kinect was a peripheral. PS4 has an optional camera and no camera based games (I guess playroom - but is it a 'game' or more of a tech demo?)
I recall a post somewhere stating that PS4 camera is sold out in many places - so people will buy these things, but you need a reason - PS4 has streaming which is the current 'killer app' for the PS4 camera. Kinect currently doesn't have twitch streaming (or have I missed that) - but if microsoft had launched with it, then the camera would have had a purpose from day 1.
It's yet more evidence to suggest that the planning of the Xbox one was rushed.
As much as I hate the kinect, its the one thing that makes the X1 stick out. Take that out and you lose all its cool gimmicks.
I'm just imagining something like:Thank god there's no X1 version of "Peter Jackson's King Kong - The Official Game of the Movie".
"The views expressed in this article are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of, and should not be attributed to, Polygon as an organization."
In this day and age how can a company as big as microsoft get something so wrong?
well what the hell? whats more natural than telling something to go somewhere by saying, go there? do people want to be saying, "uh hey xbox could you please open netflix for me?"
They definitely put themselves in a hard spot by including Kinect. They knew early adopters largely wouldn't be interested in Kinect games, so they decided not to make them a focus early on. They hoped to have at least one at launch with Kinect Sports, but of course this is Rare we're talking about. And, obviously, the high cost of its inclusion means they sell fewer consoles, which means developers will be even slower to integrate Kinect in their games.
Part of me thinks it'll be worth it for them in a couple years when the price is lower and they reach the greener pasture of mainstream audiences. But the other part of me thinks selling the console at $300 or $350 at launch would have been a much easier way to achieve this. If they stick with Kinect, it'll mean they're still confident that more price-conscious consumers will buy into their all-in-one vision.

Remember the Surface, Windows Phone/Nokia, Windows Vista, Kin, Windows 8...
I hope Steve Ballmer's departure means Microsoft will go back to making good business decisions.
Rivals on track for April 8th, article is wrong.
Kinect sports Rivals arrives in April.
The Xbox One has been on the market in North America for three months. Microsoft has failed to prove the worth of the Kinect hardware, and there are no concrete release dates for experiences that will justify its costs.
It's too late to remove it, just as it's too late for Nintendo to remove the tablet. That ship has sailed. The main problem they need to deal with now is the cost of the console. But how do you deal with that without removing Kinect? It's the same crappy situation.
I think early adopters are the people most willing to accept Kinect's limitations.
Oh, lets have a look on Sony: they've been rated as 'Junk' and rubbish at stock exchange, they have no money, they are selling PC division and excluding TV, selling company buildings etc. pp.
And what about Nintendo: Even though they still have good cash on the banks, they're screwing up massively with Wii U and 3DS isn't as promising as they wish to be plus their foray into health business? Rly?
Why I'm writing this down? Because I'm f*cking SICK of the constanteous bash of Microsoft and the Xbox One. In fact Windows Phone and Surface are gorgeous products if you spent more than 5 minutes with the devices and their distinct features. Same counts for XOne even though I admit that it has some flaws and really bad PR (at least during last years E3), but I can't hear nor read anymore shit about resolutiongate, PR and how Microsoft is fucking up with their products because that is clearly not the case. Just look at the competitors and then you see who is really fucking up. Sony, beside PlayStation, is a ship already nearly sunken and Nintendo is driving itself into oblivion while Iwata gives a FUCK about it but instead is creating 'health business'.
Seriously guys, think about it.
