Polygon's marathon Xbox One live stream

Yeah noticed that too pretty stupid. Also they said Xbox has more AAA games than PS4 next year then named 2 games. And then named 2 games on PS4.

Which ones?

In their PS4 review they acted like Drive Club, MLB The Show and The Order 1886 didn't exist.

So if next gen doesn't start until Titanfall comes out, then does last gen start on that very same day when it comes out for 360?

$620 to play a Source engine, multiplayer only shooter with a control pad? What a steal.

Read the comments. Not a lot of people agree with the articles assertion that HDMI-CEC is the equivalent to remote control support. Mostly because its never guaranteed to actually work.

IR blasters aren't 100% eirher.

I've really enjoyed watching these guys so far. But apparently I'm supposed to hate them and pick apart every single thing they say.
Why even say that? When have we ttied ti force a veiw down your throat? This thread has been pretty much tame as far as that kind of talk, quit flaming.

That verge review is hilarious.

-ugly box
-kinect doesn't work
-tv is broken (no surround sound? did not know that)
-supposedly more great games like Ryse
-might be cool in the future

7.8 lol

They weren't talking to you. They were talking to people who don't have both consoles. They were simply saying that you could play a tin of great games for cheap.

I'm not convinced that people without access to a 360 or PS3 are stumbling onto Polygon to get their opinions on next gen consoles. Maybe Oprah could tell people that same statement on HER show, that would reach the right audience.

That's completely besides the point and is actually the opposite of the discussion. We're talking about console being controlled by devices, not consoles controlling other devices.

HDMI-CEC is not a guaranteed solution.

Kinect being an IR receiver as well as a blaster means that remotes can be created or software/firmware upgrade to be directly compatible with it like Logitech are doing with their Harmony remotes which they hope to be compatible on day one.

What did they say about PS+?

You could buy a PS3/PS4 and PS+ and download 8 years worth of backcontent.

Not correct. Actually very wrong indeed. While cool as hell, such a model would absolutely gut Sony's software sales and would turn off any publisher/developer from agreeing to putting their software on PS+

Its well known that PS+ operates on a a la carte storefront in which content is rotated monthly ( distributed weekly) , pick what you want. ( you should redeem everything ;) ) and whatever you redeem is yours to keep till the end of your service agreement.

Such a small bit of public knowledge seems insignificant, but when this stated from what should be reffered to as "gaming journalists/professionals" it gives off an aura of ineptitude and naïveté. I expect more out of people who make this their occupation.

As you can see, they have said even more questionable things during this stream. I have to say that I am starting to actually wonder if some of these editors/writers actually do carry a bias or may be just straight up apathetic to the concerns of the gaming community and their overall image regarding them.

8.0 lol

From many reviews I've seen including Polygon and it's stream it seems as if they like the PS4 better but for some reason are trying to force a preference for the Xbox One. I still can't understand how in the hardware review the Xbox got an 8 and the PS4 a 7.5? At most there should've been a tie due to this being the launch and both consoles having promises for the future.

It's absolutely clear to me from watching this stream that literally anyone can become a gaming journo.

They are talking shite and what I mean by that is their english is all over the place, the discussion has no agenda and it's basically just a few guys discussing pretty much everything we already know or have known since February . I don't have a problem with their opinions, it's just the way it's delivered.

Everyone is out to get Sony. Follow the money! Chemtrails! Etc, etc.

I hear ya. Often roundtables end up being mystery Science Theater banter without focused direction. I'd love to see more focus driven dialogue over issues, future developments, or other things that may catch gamers attention. This could potentially reduce the amount of misinformation spread during these streams.

Its often my biggest issue with media. The active sometimes even intentionally spread misinformation that is broadcasted.

verge guy being super blunt about voice and tv stuff saying it doesnt work great and he doesnt see the point

also i didnt know about the audio problems

if the xbox one didnt come with kinect and was 399.99 i would buy it friday

Haven't been able to watch. Someone catch me up. I assume it's been a lot of "such future" and "so potential" along with a lot of misinformation?

The Verge is doing a real review of the consoles because they don't have anything to loose like the gaming sites. The Verge is brutally honest on all their tech reviews. Especially Nilay Patel. All gaming sites depend on the good will of the game publishers and platform holders for product previews and access.

All the game reviewers praising it for media passthrough. The tech review guys slamming it for the same thing.

Quite the dichotomy

Fuck, I didnt know the Verge was doing a round-table after Polygon.

Xbox, one guide.

Xbox, one guide.

Xbox, one guide.

Seems like fun to constantly repeat yourself.

Lol so everything that you input to HDMI IN will have degraded picture quality and it messes with the audio.

I thought that shit was useless before but damn that is on a different level of useless.

Why is it that all the pre-recorded videos of the speech recognition work seamlessly but the live streams are a mess? Perhaps live streaming interferes with Kinect ...

Reality interferes with Kinect. The reality that voice recognition is not perfect.

Nilay's video was prerecorded and it was pretty bad too.
