Poor Mitsuda... does he have no work?

So I've been thinking, both Sakimoto and Mitsuda are freelance, but it seems Mitsuda doesn't really have much work at all. Sakimoto has done soundtracks for 2 PS2 games, 1 DS game and even a broadcast anime TV series so far this year. He still has 2 DS games and a Wii game due out this year. What about Mitsuda? What's he doing? Is the poor guy going to go out of business soon? Thought... :(

well that's what happens when you only want to score handheld RPGs! **** him! WHERE IS MY CHRONO CROSS ARANGE ALBUM

What was his most recent job? A handheld game?

edit: Alright, Zerodoppler asked the same thing, I see. :lol

What was the most recent thing he did? Deep Labyrinth?

Armodyne.

If you subscribe to his newsletter he always complains about how busy he is, traveling back and forth between Korea and Japan. Sounds like he's working on a Korean MMORPG or something...

another game where the masses will enjoy his work

I'm pretty sure I heard that Mitsuda was trying to branch out from game composition, to write his own music and perform it himself. It's reasonable to assume that what he's busy with isn't for a video game.

Isn't he composing for Matsuno's game?
Yeah that Wii game from Nintendo. :lol No but seriously, didn't he say he was working on another DS game, a PS2 game (Armordyne), and a Wii game on his blog when he wrote about Luminous Arc?

Didn't he also do Luminous Arc?

Just two tracks...his staff at Procyon Studio did the rest. This is fast becoming the norm. All those games Sakimoto is credited with this year? His people at Basiscape did the vast majority of the composing. Norihiko Hibino's Gem Impact is operating the same way. Hibino only did a handful of tracks on Elvandia Story and none on the upcoming Etrian Odyssey arrange disc, even though he's credited with them.

Name is familiar...MGS3 and PO I think. Was he not at Konami when he did those games?

I really love MGS3's music. I hope 4 is as good.

You got it. Also MGS2 and the ZOE series, and he just did the awesome MG 20th Anniversary disc. He's been solo since MGS3. Sadly, he's not doing MGS4.

Mitsuda is pretty busy with work, he's not unemployed or short of work. Let's not forget that Sakimoto's Breath of Fire V score was supervised by Mitsuda :D

This is quite funny, as I frequent a game music forum and the guys there have very little clue about anything in the gaming industry - all rabid anti-Sony fanboys and one of their friends having a PS3 with apparently a broken fan = SONY IS SHITE. However, X360 is purrfect because it has a 3-year warranty :lol And then coming here to a hardcore gaming board to see some clueless about the music side... very amusing.

Didn't he get hired for SSBB? Sure, he might only be doing one or two songs...

Mitsuda doesn't like doing full projects because he ends up coming out damaged physically. He's been to the hospital a few times and he gets pretty stressed over his work. He prefers to do solo albums (like Kirite). It looks like he still does some game music though. I have no idea if he'll ever go a soundtrack for a "big" game again.

Oh, for those unaware, Mitsuda is working on a Chrono Cross Arrange album. It will be acoustic-based. Yes, it's been in works for years and I don't know when it'll ever be released.

Yeah a lot of us know about it. He said it'd be out by the end of 2006 but.. nope! Oh and to add on to my post above, Mitsuda IS interested in doing more Chrono game BGM. Kinda conflicts with my above post but then again my above post is based on an older interview. Though it kinda shows that he doesn't like doing full soundtracks considering what he's done for the past few years.

All I want is for Mitsuda to produce one more soundtrack, thus completing the holy trinity, and then he can go live in a cave for all I care. I just want one more awesome some soundtrack, SACRIFICE YOUR BODY UNTO GOD SO THAT WE MAY AGAIN HEAR HIS VOICE, MITSUDA!! DO IT!

... Ahem, honestly, I can understand why he's so reluctant, and it's not like Japan isn't eventually heading in this direction either, so I guess it's for the best... still, sucks.

What upcoming Wii game is Sakimoto working on?

Talking about all the great composers in SSBB, it would feel weird that they'd give some "help" for this game and not for Wii Music ...

I heard that as well, and that he wants to compose movie scores. I <3 Mitsuda so much, and I'd love for him to make more VG music.

Huh? Norihiko Hibino did most of Elvandia Story's soundtrack, except for Noriyuki Iwadare doing the main theme and ending theme.

I hope Mitsuda will made the soundtrack for the next big RPG of Tetsuya Takahashi. They do an amazing job in Xenogears and Xenosaga Episode I.
