Portal 2 DOES NOT have PlayStation Move support

Always-honest said:
oh well, at least we still have Killzone 3 for move... :(
That game can't be balanced for both, it either has to have been tuned for DS3 or Move, and I can't believe it was Move.

You'd have to be stupid not to put a Move option in your games. Move is not exactly flourishing in third party support, adding it in will make your title stand out for those desperate to play something.

Valve are stupid? You are stupid!

I wish developers wouldn't just so I don't have to sit through those stupid Move warnings even though I don't own the damn thing.

fail, it was PR

It was actually that Valve guy interviewed by the German PlayStation Blog :D
He just stated it (and I do believe they are working on it behind the curtain). But when I checked his profile on Valve's site and realized he is a "Writer" I went "hmm..."

Oh, I thought Sony PR fucked up. Either way, the journos escape blame for this one! :P

Pretty much. I only know a small amount of German and it is clearly obvious in the article that there is no Move support.

Your german must differ from mine and Eurogamer's.

The original German, from the list of things he went through in the PS3 version:

und volle Playstation-Move-Unterstützung

in English: 'and full Playstation-Move-support'

This wasn't game journalists' fault. They faithfully relayed what he, on the face of it, said in this interview.

So like I've been saying, either Sony's blogger misquoted him (twice) in the interview, or the Valve guy did actually say these things but was mistaken in thinking Valve had publicly confirmed Move support.

IMO the vast balance of probabilities supports the latter scenario. I think he was probably aware of work going on with Move re. Portal 2 but was unaware that it hadn't been finally decided upon or publicly announced so he let slip on it. I think it's quite possible Valve evaluated it and canned the idea. It's also possible they're still working on it, but I think they'd simply stay mum on this if that was the case, or be less equivocal about it NOT supporting Move.

I see that, but a sentence later he says there isn't full move support in the next question. It might be in regards to using both Move and 3D at the same time, or it might be in general. Either way, it is poorly written/worded/edited on someone's part.

if the valve guy got it wrong, i wanna know how someone 'accidentally' confirms Move support and even goes as far as to say it's not fully implemented yet and that it's 'new to the team'.

it's one thing to accidentally get a supported resolution wrong, but all of that fluff about move?

He was simply saying there:

"Auch Move ist eine völlig neue Erfahrung für uns, daher ist das System noch nicht voll integriert."

"So Move is a entirely new system for us, therefore the system is not yet fully integrated."

That was in response to a question asking how Move would work in the game, following on from the first comment. That gives no suggestion the game would not have Move support, just that he wasn't in a position to elaborate on it because they were still working on it. The combination of his two comments leaves every expectation the game will have Move support, but that right now he can't specify how it'll work because it's not yet fully finished.

This is a lot of talk for a small point: I think it's most likely the Valve guy's fault for the confusion.

The 'fluff' is probably true. Move is new technology to the team, and it's not fully implemented yet.

Alright, my bad.

This whole mix-up is really weird.

It's too bad the rumor is bullshit, because Move support for Portal would be great. It needs top dawg devs like Valve behind it for people to actually give a shit about it. I like my Move, but as of now there isn't a whole lot going on with it, aside from a few neat PSN games and KZ3. If this was actually happening, I would definitely pony up a little extra for the PS3 version.

Oh well, I was planning on going with the Hydra bundle anyways.

What happened? What the fuck happened?

Glad they stuck with the controller. How can it be fine tuned for multiplayer with two control options? (I don't find Killzone 3 to be fine tuned for both, for example).

Who cares when it's not competitive?

It's not competitive so that doesn't even make any sense. And PC players using m/kb will be able to play co-op with PS3 players anyway.

The future for Move looked so bright this morning with Portal 2 being its first killer app. Boy am I glad I didn't place an order a controller this morning.

Valve really should consider adding Move support for this game, it's just the perfect fit. Can't be that hard of a thing to implement.

I think I'm going to get the Razer Hydra bundled with Portal 2 PC. Definitely if it's under $100.

They've gone on record a number of times at saying under a hundred for the controller (99.99). Assuming it doesn't get delayed again, I think it's a given. That doesn't include Portal though.

Considering that's including two fully functional wands with analog sticks and the magnetic base, it's as reasonable as anything MS, Nintendo, or Sony are offering. Portal or not.

They'll add move support eventually. But they're only gonna announce it once they've finalized the design for the snap on scale replica portal gun Move attachment

it might, JUST MIGHT entice me to get a move just for that

I really, really, really, really, really, really doubt Chet is the one who fucked up here.

Not sure about the status of the move drivers atm but ironically enough you'll probably be able to play Portal2 with the move on the PC soon :)

You'll be able to play with the wiimote for sure, which I guess is essentially the same thing.

So if he says twice it's going to have full PS Move support and then he says it isn't yet integrated I think it means this.

That they will implemented but still isn't ready, or that they will do it in the future. But that the game will have Move support.

Gabe will turn up at the Microsoft E3 press-conference dual wielding Move controllers look up and say 'Wrong Conference' create an ACTUAL Portal and warp to the Playstation conference and announce Move support.

So Portal 2 is delayed?
