Is this the actual logo? :S
The e is calling for help. It is afraid of the abomination that the online service is set to become.

You got to be kidding me...

Wasn't at least the Internet Browser part of the 'May' update? What a shitty state they got themselves in.

Nintendo has learned well from their own past mistakes, as well as Sony's current ones.

It's already confirmed to be coming with the update on June 6th.

I'd expect it to go up with the eShop, since we know that the latter is definitely/supposedly coming up around the 6th of June. I'm sure that the little disclaimer is referring to the formerly-May update.

EDIT: I'm curious about Netflix, though. I wonder if there will be any 3D content available when it is up.

Eh, as long as it's just like regular Netflix, I couldn't care less. I would LOVE to be able to watch me some movies on my 3DS.

I hope you guys are right. Kinda getting silly with all the delays and incomplete stuff :/

So that disclaimer might just be old?

Super Mario Land and Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX Day 1 for me.

It'll be like I'm 5 years old and just getting my Game Boy for the first time again.

I feel like everybody who's ever owned a GameBoy owns Link's Awakening in some form, whether they know it or not. Go ahead, check your couch cushions, it's in there somewhere.
I'm just excited to get the other Oracle of X game that I never had, whenever they get around to it.

Nope. Never owned LA.

Me neither. Wish the eShop would launch before June 3rd so I could play it on 9 hour plane ride. Why didn't you think of that, Nintendo?

They did and they delayed it a few more days to spite you.

But don't blame Iwata or Reggie, it was Yamauchi's idea.

Ok, possibly dumb question, but will all these be in 3d?

Think of it as the Wii.

These games are the Virtual Console of the 3DS while there will also be Wiiware-type 3DS games which will utilize the 3D of the system whether they are classic games remade or brand new ones.

I'd guess there are no "3DS Download Software" titles (I think they're called that in the manual) available yet because they want DSiWare to get a chance to shine for a while first. I imagine many 3DS owners last had a DS Lite or DS Phat and skipped the DSi platforms, so they've missed out on all the DSiWare apps. Nintendo probably wants to show some goodwill to the DSiWare developers that they aren't just being forgotten and still have a chance to sell their stuff before the wave of higher-poly, higher-res, 3D apps show up.

It would be pathetic, If they don't have any native 3DS titles at launch of their eShop. I don't expect much from Nintendo when it comes to online, but this would really upset me especially when at the same time they try to charge 40 bucks for titles which are perfect eShop material.

@lupin

This would be stupid - I bought my 3DS to play content that uses the hardware power. My DSi is over 2 years old and DSiware is nothing new for me. Nintendo can't be that naive. With 3DS sales already slowin down, they shoul put some effort behind their store and have exclusive and original titles ready day 1.

That is definitely just a placeholder image and has nothing to do with what games we'll get at launch I'm sure. I think that Link's Awakening shot is the exact one they've been parading around since the start of all this.

Why Nintendo, WHY? :(

Why is Nintendo being so secretive with this shit? I mean they didn't announce the delay until they pretty much had to.

Why won't they just tell us what to expect on day one?

Excuse me if this post is a slightly incomprehensible, it's pretty late lol. I feel like the wording is a little vague. In the OP's link, it says "Nintendo eShop will be available after June 6th, 2011 via a Nintendo 3DS system update. Wireless Internet access is required to perform the system update and access the Nintendo eShop." which I interpret to mean "the eShop will be available starting, and after, June 6th."

When you click the "Learn more about the eShop" button, you get the block of text that Teknoman is quoting. Unlike the previous webpage, this page doesn't list a date at all. So I interpret the "Additional features such as the Internet Browser and Nintendo eShop will be made available with future updates." to mean "As of right now, relative to today's date (5/2X), the eShop is not available but will be so at a future date."

That's how I'm reading it right now. But whatever, I'm personally not hyping nor downplaying this update. I'll just patiently wait for it to be released before I submit judgment.

EDIT: Nevermind, read CoolS' post below. Made the same assumption he did.

You don't think it's been pushed back again do you? It's still coming on June 6th.

On second thought, maybe I read it wrong. I equated the eShop with the 3DS content which is probably wrong. Carry on.

Oh and btw. I still think Nintendo will show some stuff during their Press Conference and say something along the line of "you can download this from the newly launched eShop right NOW and watch all 3DS trailers in glorious 3D"

I think the eshop page is not new since I remember seeing it on the site when the 3DS was launched.
Yeah, that description on the site is old. What's new is the stuff on the main page.

Not a preposterous idea. It could explain the multiple delays. They might've been adding more ideas to the launch and preparing for the server overload that would be sure to come if they announced any E3 content to be immediately available. Even trailers would likely bring the servers to its knees with the traffic.

So we're getting 2 old Gameboy games, and stuff thats already on the DSiWare service :/

Great work Nintendo, totally worth that delay. The VC line-up was fantastic compared to this.

So far we get a picture of what you described.

Sorry I don't follow what your saying? I meant VC Wii line-up was better...?

I meant that so far there is no official Line-up announced. Yes, at this point it seems likely we will get Mario Land and LA DX, but as long as there is no official statement from Nintendo, that's just jumping to conclusions.

I suppose, but when Nintendo themselves are promoting the fact that they have 2 Virtual Cosole games, no mention of 3DSWare and old DSiWare games, doesn't exactly spell good news. You'd think they would be mentioning new awesome original stuff.

Except they don't do that? All they announced is that there will be VC classics as well as the ones remade in 3D. They used Mario and Zelda as examples since forever. The fact that Excite Bike ind 3D will be available in Japan at launch alone speaks for more than those two titles.

And DSi Ware is a given for the launch. The only thing I am worried about like you is the 3DS stuff. But like I said, I'm betting that will coincide with E3, so I will wait.

That picture is not an announcement of anything. That's 4 DSiWare games that are already out and the only 2 VC games they have shown. There's nothing new there. We already know Excitebike will be available on launch and that's not in that picture. So you think Excitebike will not be there because it's not in the picture? They can't fit everything in a little logo. Don't look too deep into it.

So are the DSiWare games going to play like DS games on the 3DS in the sense that there's a black border on the top screen and the games have the blurred effect from the resolution?

So how is color going to work for GB game?

Ideal situation:
You can pick black and white, GBC style color (pick one of 4 pallets), full color

But it's Nintendo, so I expect one, and only one way to play the games.
I thought the GBC style was more than 4 palettes. I seem to remember A or B being held with D-pad direction changed it so atl east 8 there. Also, didn't a few old GB games like Metroid 2 and Super Mario Land have special bulit-in ones.

I guess its a matter of if the BIOS is included but looking at the SMB screenshot its going to be Game Boy Pocket style?

I guess we can hope for something good, I'am thinking of Super GameBoy / GameBoy Player style functionnalities. At least, in some future updates of the update (!).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't DSiWare run at a higher rez than DS games? I coulda sworn I heard that before but I may just be insane.

The DSi screen is the same resolution as the DS screen. You are insane.
