Anyone who doubts the quality of MGS2 models should just take a quick viewing of this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjbyYqPZ2Mc

Edit: I forgot how brilliantly that was edited to make Snake look like the main character. :lol I love you Kojima.
After watching that I really want to play MGS2 again. I would love for Kojima to do something like that again by having all the trailers showing one character and then making us play as a completely new character, but I guess after the backlash of MGS2 we won't be seeing anything like that happening again.

I love that game so much, havent played it in a while because all my ps2 controllers are damaged. might buy a new one and play through again.

i still think it is pound for pound the best looking game ever made.

Same here.
MGS1, MGS2, and MGS4 all blew me away more than anything in their respective gens (probably because they were the first MGS for each console.) Though I now recognize MGS3 as being the best all-around, it didn't wow me like the others.

I remember when people were speculating that the shapely figure in the "wet suit" was either Meryl or Olga.

And instead of Solidus, it was a cyborg'd-out resurrected Big Boss, ala Gray Fox in MGS1.

deja vu.

"This is my son. I taught him everything".

Kojima, you son of a bitch :lol He doesn't do stuff like that anymore, though :(

Hate to bring this back up but for those of you who were complaining about Snake being out of character in MGS4 yesterday, did you ever think to consider the fact that all the soldiers are now a part of a system that controls everything from when you can fire to what you eat? Wouldn't that piss off some battle hardened soldier who's faith was restored when Raiden (among others) had instilled their own will into their decisions?. Not to mention the aging.

And also... People really seem to hate the retconning and other BS but I wonder how the old school fans reacted to the whole BB clones instead of being a father/son thing lol.

those screenshots are not representive of mgs2 at all.

and also, that mgs2 trailer posted above is awesome and is ironically better than any of the mgs4 trailers

Anyone remember what the date was that had been blacked out (or blanked out) during the end of MGS4 when it lists the timeline?

I remember there was a discussion about it, how it alludes to more of BB's story that hasn't been accounted for. I doubt that's an image of BB or Snake, but I'm still curious about that omission.

I wish I had a screen grab of it.

That doesn't explain why Old Snake doesn't have anything to say neither in the final battle against his arch enemy nor in the graveyard scene when a certain character appears to steal the spotlight from him (just to name a couple of examples of Snake's weak presence and participation throughout the story).

Also, MGS2's Snake was wise and experienced. Old Snake, should be even wiser and more experienced than MGS2's Snake (which is not the case), with the difference that his physical condition is not so good, to say the least. Old Snake should have been in a position to teach other characters about all the stuff that he's learnt throughout his life. Instead of that, he's MGS1's Snake in the body of an old man. Wait, I take that back; actually, even MGS1's Snake had a lot more to say than Old Snake ever did.

I remember when Portable Ops came out, there were people upset about Gray Fox's backstory being retconned.

And iirc, not even Kojima liked the clone retcon. :lol

Yes, MGS1 Snake was a fountain of wisdom.

Are you guiez serious?

There's a timeline of all events that had taken place in MGS/MG history (and a few other events like the lunar landing) at the very end of the game.

Around 1970 - 1980 there is something that says 19XX or XXXX where an event takes place. I'll just chalk it up to more of Kojima's mysteries.

Too bad I started the game over last week >:-(

It was one of the best subplots of the game. all of gaf can relate to being awkward around girls and having them reject your every advance, but in the end he got his girl.

I'm quite sure there is a timeline at the end of 4 after
Snake confronts BB in the cemetary... and at the very end it scrolls through the timeline of events

*sigh* now I have to restart my save and get through the microwave again.

That might make a bit of sense if he was still a loser when he married her, instead they made him a hunky hero.

And who on earth wants to get that 'girl', she's more manly than he is.....

If you'd been talking about Otacon then maybe there'd be something there.

Otacon's an even bigger wimp than Johnny.

Same, only I was thinking about Requiem of a Dream, which always makes it 10x worse for me. God I hate that theme.

it shows all of gaf have a hunky hero inside of them, Otacon is just a step-mother sleeping weirdo.

Otacon took a look at himself and know that was the only chance he'd ever to sleep with a woman, anybody would do the same in his situation and it's not as though he was related to her by blood!

I don't think that's true.

I did it in law, it does depend on the age so if he was say 16-18 then i thik she would have got done as she was in a position of trust over him. didnt have much case study on the issue.

It might suck a little more in MGS4 (not enough for me to really care),but I think it's a problem in every MGS for the main character. Kojima wants you the player to be the main guy.

So far though i've liked a variety of styles though. The one where the main character comments on everything (Uncharted) or where he says nothing (Half-Life).

Stepparents are not automatically legal guardians of their spouse's children though are they?

EDIT: Also, we don't know his age, so I don't know how you know his age at the time of the affair.

This is true. But also, look at it from a story perspective. What is Snake supposed to teach? Everyone he works with are experienced soldiers now. Meryl and Raiden were rookies in MGS1 and 2, but there's nothing Snake has to teach them now, aside from one of the big messages of the game:
stop fighting and just live your life. Which they all do (Snake included).
