Post Your Gaming Setup: 2009 Edition

Holy shit, optical illusion!!! I thought the area in front of the TV was about a foot lower than the rest of the floor, but its just a carpet! The black trim of the carpet messed with me.
Shit yeah me too!
Very nice setup too.

That is insanely beautiful. Did you do the custom shelving yourself or did it come as a whole unit? Makes my setup look like shit. :lol

I've had fun looking through this thread, so I figured I should contribute as well.

But first, sorry for the shitty picture quality, and I'm a college student, so this is just my bedroom... it's all I have to work with, and no, I can't do anything about the broke-ass wallpaper.

Anyway...

I got my iPhone chillin' on the bed and Full Metal Panic: TSR dominating the TV.

Yeah, well it's something I'm still figuring out because I fell in love with this hulsta mega-design. It's a real beauty, it even has touch sensitive buttons for the lighting inside and all that.

But anything bigger than 54" won't fit. I don't know if I can live with that. :(

This is ridiculously clean looking! I love it!

For myself, 52" is actually as big as I need for a TV, so this works for me. I found the international site... do they ship to the US or is it showroom only?

(Edit: Found the info... ugh... only NY and Boston.)

Just buy more shit. You think that receiver's there for sound? No! It's because it'd be a goddamn mess back there if it weren't sitting in front of all the cables. I actually thought my pics were semi-messy coz the cables were kinda strewn everywhere and I just didn't care enough to fix that. Point is, buy stuff and you'll have a solution to everything.

^ I have one of those exact spinning racks in my living room. I've considered getting another for my den, but haven't yet. Very convenient unit, nice and sturdy when you've got it loaded with movies or games.

Yeah, they're pretty small, but hold quite a few movies/games. I had to keep looking around at local Targets to find 3 of them. I probably will need a fourth in not too long. =P

Thanks, it is all custom. Went back and forth on the measurements for about a month to make sure everything fit properly. Ended up adding in those lower drawers to add more CD capacity but sacrificed some equipment space. I keep my ps3 and xbox on the other side of the wall to keep noise down, thank you wireless controllers! :lol

Yay crappy phone pics ftw....

I've updated my game room with a work-in-progress Cabinet and cleaned up my collection (meaning: sold $5K worth of stuff). This is my game room and I don't worry one bit about decoration, cord management, or anything else. I'm a solo gamer and this is simply my place to play games.

Game Room:

Arcade Cabinet Work-In-Progress. Still gotta finish the wiring and Bezel:

PS360 Setup. These are systems I'm caring less and less about. (I've got a couple of each hooked up...Slim Triple arrives Monday):

I've got a lot of sticks and these are some of my current favorites. The black EX with white Sanwa buttons is my absolute favorite and I pretty much use it for everything. I use them mostly for shmups...sometimes I try to use them for fighters but so far SFIV has been the one I've really played:

Smallish game collection, but all stuff I love and could not do without. I'm a big fan of the DD stores and consequently have about 130 VC/Wiiware games, 50 PSN titles and 100 XBLA titles. Here are the DS, PSP and PS3 retail titles:

And the PS2, DC, 360, Wii, and Gamecube retail titles:

My two newish russian dwarf hamsters live in the game room. I built the cages for them. If you look closely you can see my little white hottie sleeping in her wheel:

hehe, make sure those hamsters don't escape mate, they'll chew through your cables... (seriously)

very impressive setup/room you got there

Some pretty neat stuff on that page. Bookmarked for after the next move for ideas on some media management.

Ha! I actually used to keep them both together in an uncovered play-asia cardboard box for about two months. Then they started not getting along and the white one became a jumper so I separated them and added the wire-mesh lid. There is no way they are getting out now!

Yeah, I just jumped back on Wii Fit after a year three weeks ago to get ready for Fit Plus. I'm already down 5 lbs in those weeks.

See now you're making me want to buy it all over again haha

Got a new TV yesterday, Sonys 40V5500 and it's awesome. I also moved to a new apartment and this is just a shitty phone pic, it'll do for now.

My TV with the Wii and the PS3. The wires next to the PS3 are for the controller, I just finished charging it, but the wire is usually hidden somewhere. Even then, all the wires I've got make for a huge mess behind all the wii game boxes... thanks god it's hard to spot!. But other wires are much easier to spot and they look so bad :(

And my computer table. Yep, I sit on the floor... but I use some cushions and whatnot and it's pretty cool, plus I don't have much space in my house :( (I'm not living in my house with my parents anymore, so I had to find a cheap house by myself)

That IRC client looks just like a script I once created for it - it isn't KIRC by any chance?

Nice screen, considering one myself :)

Wow, your wall can actually hold the 52" Bravia? I'd never dare to try, unless I had a concrete wall. Which you don't seem to have, since I'm not seeing any cables.

Is it a bad idea? lol
We've had it up for 9 months now and nothing has happened.
The Sony people installed it themselves and never mentioned not to put it on the wall.

Tiktaalik,

Auctions are a good start...or things like Craig's List. For example, I saw an Egret 2 for just over a grand from a guy in Seattle. Shipping is gonna run you another few hundred. You have to be patient, though, for something to show. Alternately, you can join a group buy through one of the various forums out there...fairly inexpensive but there are additional costs. Or you can order directly from Japan or Hong Kong which is the most complex and pricey option because you are gonna pay the same duties and customs on one that you would on two...four...or a container load...and lots and lots of paperwork. I did the last option becase I live close enough to the two major CA ports and was curious to experience the process of importing.

need to lower the tv a bit (put it too high, gotta lower it about a 8-10 inches) and paint the cable hider thing to match the wall.

got the earthbound cart today thanks to my awesome wife.

going against the grain of a sharp witty remark...

kudos Boss!...Simply Kudos! absolute phenomena

on a side note...what are your plans for the cabinet? *sorry, haven't read all the posts

Well, I've got the gear/wiring to hook up a Japanese PS2 with the Cave shooters as well as a Dreamcast. Planning to buy a Cave PCB each year as well for it but I'm still trying to decide on the first one. I also picked up a Japanese Saturn and ten shooters so that migh be an option...I know I can get the Saturn running at the arcade resolution but to wire the controls looks like it might take some custom work (whereas for PS2 and DC there are off-the-shelf options) The cabinet is just for vertical shooters so if they don't have tate mode then they won't work. Planning on putting the consoles inside the cabinet. The inside jamma wiring is quite complex so I've just gotta sit down one weekend and just work through it all. But, really, I mostly bought it for PCBs...having consoles connected to it is just an addition.

Sounds hot...
I would love to get my hands on an astro cabinet but in PhX there isn't much of a selection unless I go into Cali territory...

looking to pick one up as a Christmas gift for myself.
