You know, I don't remember being very fond of this series when I first sat through it. I think I was at that stage of my younger life when I was deeply enthralled by the tone set up by the preceding shows, the melodrama and a general desire to keep things "dark". I couldn't seem to stand Ninja Storm's attempt to be distinctly more comedic in tone and meta. But here I am having a delightful time sitting through this series now. Sure, it's hard to be on the edge of my seat when the rangers are attacking two bumbling villainesses who are only trying to set up a beach party while the main villain is probably getting his nails done or something while cracking a meta joke, but I'm having so much fun with this show's writing. It makes Wild Force feel like a tired, unmemorable and mirthless slog by comparison.
