I have to wonder. Since series are now guaranteed to be adapted into power rangers, does saban collaborate to the budget of the Japanese original or has any input on it?

Idk about Saban, but (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), but Bandai of America had input in the latest sentai: Kyuranger. It's space themed and has 9 rangers from the start.

The current super sentai - Uchu Sentai Kyuranger - is the first Bandai of America has participated in the pre-production/conceptualization of (you're correct, jwk94).

No. There's a famous rumor that Disney tried to get Toei to tone down the violence and Toei laughed it off. I don't think the west has any influence at all because only this very year it was a big deal that Bandai of America (toy company, not the showrunners!) collaborated on designing the toyline, and only because Japan bothered to ask.

The Sentai footage here is mad fun. Was Lightspeed's Sentai considered good?

It's a wonderful culmination of various factors. It was a couple of years prior to the series going all-in on CGI for the mecha, so their experience with model work is near its peak. On top of that you have a deliberate decision to make the show a massive homage to the works of Gerry Anderson, resulting in a deliberate point of showing the fuck off with said modelwork. So it looks awesome on the visual side. On the audio, Toshiyuki Watanabe - who'd done work on Godzilla movies - decided to do the score for the series as an ode to his father's work on numerous tokusatsu and mecha shows. So, great music. Then beneath all that you've got a decent story about the bonds of family; to put it in perspective they so fundamentally refused to buckle on this point that despite 'extra heroes' being fully established for the franchise at that stage, GoGoV did not have one (forcing Lightspeed to invent the Titanium Ranger).

It's a good show.

Awesome info.

I'm already dipping my toe into Kamen Rider, it's daunting to think of hopping into 40 years of Sentai.

But I'm tempted.
