So I've been playing Valkyria Chronicles 2, Final Fantasy Tactics, and I've at least started up Valkyria Chronicles 3 (fan translation patch) and I'm noticing crackling audio. This is happening on my tablet (Tegra Note 7) and my PC. Both of which are more than powerful enough to handle PSP. When I googled it seemed that different version eliminated then reintroduced sound crackle? Is there an obvious setting I might be missing?
I've just tried out those games on my system and they're working fine. Audio crackling usually occurs when the emulation speed is less than 100%. I can verify, however that, some audio crackling still occurs on VC 3 especially when swapping between the maps during the strategic phase of a mission. These are caused by minor internal FPS (not Speed) dips that inexplicably occur even when your hardware is more than capable of running the game, possibly timing issues.
Enable the "Show FPS Counter" and set it to "Both" in the Graphics Options. (Settings --> Graphics)
Does the audio crackling occur even at 100% speed?
Does it happen even when using default settings? You can easily go back to the defaults by choosing the "Restore PPSSPP's settings to default" option in the System Options. (Settings --> System)
Do you also have the "Low Latency Audio" option (Settings --> Audio) enabled? That could cause crackling, especially on Windows.
