PR: Xbox 360 Boasts Greatest Release Schedule Ever

Well not the bes eva:lol , but pretty good imo.

X360:
Bioshock
Halo3
PGR4
Orange Box
COD4
Mass Effect

All must have this period imo.

PS3:
Uncharted
COD4
Orange Box

Only real must have on PS3 is Uncharted (which I got today). If you have a X360 I would get COD4 and OB for that machine.

Oh I guess Resistance & Warhawk don't exist in your eyes! :lol

Did people cry foul when 2002 wasn't as awesome as 2001 end for the Ps2?

I don't understand. The planets aligned and this fall was amazing. Next year we will see what happens, maybe a combination of Fable2/GTaIV/Gears2/Banjoo and whatever more, will make fall 2008 a great period for the 360 too.

But i don't understand this 2008 vs 2007 talk. Am i worried that 2007 was such a piece of shit for the Ps3? No, i'm looking forward to 2008.

Am i worried that 2008 doesn't look as awesome as 2007 for the 360? No, i'm enjoying 2007.

So there are more games released for the 360 within two quarters than for the PS3 up to this point?

I'd recheck the PSN numbers, as I'm sure that includes XBLA. (Or XBLah, you know what I mean folks, ahahahahah hahahaha but seriously, tip your waitress folks, she's working hard out there.)

Yup, don't like both games. I have Warhawk but find it boring. Resistance is a PS3 launch game from last year. I could add those to the list.
But I would also have to do the same for X360, which makes that list even longer ;)

Hyperbole aside, while Microsoft's intended 360 market is not my style per say, they continues to nail what their user-base enjoys with quality games.

I remember countless PR statements from Sony during the PS1/PS2 era with the same slant, so it's all good in the end.

Honestly, the last time I remember a console recieving so many good games in the span of a year was the PS2 back in 2001. 2007 for the 360 was ridonculous.

You know things are pretty awesome when you have to stop playing The Orange Box to split your time between Rock Band and Mass Effect.

I've bought more software for the 360 than I have any other console. :D

2008 for the 360 looks great too with GTA 4, Devil May Cry 4, Halo Wars, Ninja Gaiden 2, Soul Calibur 4, Gears 2 (possibly), Resident Evil 5, etc. So what if some of those are multiplatform games. It doesn't mean 360 gamers can't play them, and they will be some of the biggest games of the year.

I was under the impression he was in talks with some big Hollywood names to star in Gears Of War: The Movie

:lol I love it!

I bought most of 360's big 07 titles and the only ones I really liked were Bioshock, Orange Box and Assassin's Creed, which are all multiplatform titles.

Halo 3 and Mass Effect have been some of the most disappointing games I have played in years.

Ug.

Sony: "Sales increase 298% from last black friday or maybe last week or something"
Nintendo: "We sold 650,000 Wii the past two weeks. Have a nice day."
Microsoft: "But we've got great games! Lots of them!"

They just want people to get the surprise with the next NPD. Don't they? DON'T THEY?

What's more important to gamers: sales figures, or great games?

Maybe they did undership Elites and Pros which seems to be the only SKUs that are selling. Would be pretty funny and sad at the same time if that's the case.

Sociable fun is also on the cards - both Viva Piñata: Party Animals and Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action offer their own unique blend of party play – Viva Piñata: Party Animals putting the colourful piñatas into a succession of addictive mini games and Scene It? offering a host of movie-related trivia to answer.

Naruto Rise of a Ninja kick flips into November featuring the perfect blend of adventure, platforming and fighting and enables fans of the show to challenge fellow gamers on Xbox LIVE®.

Finally, top guns will fulfil their aviation dreams in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, thrusting players into the heat of realistic air combat.

I know. It was a joke. The 360 lineup this year has been excellent, and this is just a continuation of the PR that MS has sent out since E3, when they began describing the schedule this same way. Nothing new, really. But it just comes on the heels of Sony being vague about their sales and Nintendo being very specific, and I found the juxtaposition amusing. But it's early, and I'm easily amused.

"Also, Rock Band and Guitar Hero III. That ought to take care of that line of -- It hasn't? Why not? What's 'myopic' mean again? I keep forgetting."

It's a Mass Effect dig. Not a lineup dig. Are the games you listed even coming out in Europe in November, let alone this year? I thought this was a PAL PR.

You ignored the whole rest of the PR, that was my point. They were talking about the entire line-up.

No, obviously they mean Mass Effect offers something for everyone: RPG, sci-fi, third person shooter, GRAW, driving, those who like having long conversations, elevator fans, etc.

:lol

Dating sims, Moral Quandary Simulators, Dress-Up, etc.

'08 may be just as good for 360...

Ninja Gaiden 2
Fable 2
GTA IV
Banjo Three
Army of Two
Mercenaries 2
Halo Wars
Burnout
Alan Wake
Bionic Commando
Silent Hill V
Soul Calibur IV
Devil May Cry 4
Left for Dead
Turok
World In Conflict
Lost Odyssey
Too Human
Condemned 2
Dark Sector
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Brother's in Arms
Battlefield BC
Alone in the Dark
Star Wars Force Unleashed
Unreal Tournament III
Splinter Cell Conviction
Fallout III
Prototype
Ghostbusters
Deadspace
Brutal Legend
Resident Evil 5
Gears of War 2 (?)
Half Life: Episode 3(?)

along with the countless others that have been announced or will be announced in early '08. A *lots* of those games are looking very promising and have big budgets so chances are the results will be very positive.

...so?

The 360 has gotten to the point where it doesn't need to sell itself with just exclusives, multiplatform games sell the system as well.

Looking forward into 2008, it's not as if once the clock strikes 12AM, January 1st, 2008, that all of the existing 360 games are just going to disappear from shelves. When people are making purchases next year, they're going to compare the existing lineups and see a big stack of 360 games on one side, and a smaller stack for their competitors. That helps.

They had an awesome year, problem for me seems to be I'm really only interested in one exclusive they've got in 08 so far, that being NG2.

So far for me there really isn't any reason to buy either competitors machines. The limited selection of exclusives on those boxes coupled with the fact that to date most 3rd party stuff runs better on the 360 (as well as most of my friends being on the 360) means that 2008 will likely continue seeing me buying primarily 360 titles.

October saw Project Gotham Racing 4 return with another garage-full of the world’s most iconic cars. A brand new dynamic weather system makes for an even more exhilarating experience.

Yeah. It truly is amazing. I mean, the Xbox 360 has the best of ALL genres, bar none.

Hell, it's #1 in platforming and adventure games! Not to mention it has the puzzle genre in a lock. Plus, you know, there's no better place for minigame collections or edutainment and brain training. And, you know, it's the top notch console for RTS titles. Why would you ever want a PC? Heck, the 360 even has a lock on sim titles and MMOs.

XBLA has Hexic, Bejewelled, Lumines, and Puzzle Quest, so I think it's safe to say they're very strong in the puzzlers.

As for RTS, it is the top for consoles, hands down. BFMEII, C&C3, and soon Supreme Commander. It's hard to argue with that.

Platformers and sims are still weak though (unless you're talking Forza2/PGR4/Ace Combat 6), but it has 2 MMOs that are mildly successful but it's not like other consoles have anything better yet, and XBLA content competes well with minigames.

PepsimanVsJoe said:
Aside from missing Mario Galaxy this sounds about right.

I guess that's the gist of what I was saying. They do have every genre locked down pretty good, or at least a solid line up, except for platformers.

That will likely all change in the future, but for now, Xbox 360 has the best exclusive lineup overall.

I am actually sitting at my desk with my gaw AGAPE at what you just typed.

I can understand Halo 3's single player not living up to the colossal hype, but it wasn't terrible either. The multiplayer is pretty good, as are all the new features it has relative to games in the genre.

Mass Effect is great. KOTOR evolved in many ways, some technical issues as always, but a great game.

Too bad only Halo 3 they seemed to have gone out of there way to promote. Wont be surprised in if Mass Effect bombs.

They definitely got clear bragging rights with software, no doubt about it - I don't think I've ever been this swamped with so many games that I wanted in one year, let alone these couple of months gone past - and I still don't own so many of them, for example, The Orange Box! :lol
