1. No Man's Sky won't live up to the hype.
The game will be very repetitive. Fly to a system, land on a planet, find some resources. Repeat 100 times. Will be very exciting for the first 4-5 hours though and reviews will be extremely good.

2. VR will underwhelm.
Sadly: Yes. I tried some Oculus DK2 demos this christmas. It had many flaws but some things were very impressive, if done right it is the future. But 2016 is too early to release it, especially PSVR will be underwhelming because most games will be very simple (just not enough power behind the PS4 for VR). And OR will be too demanding and complicated for 'normal' people.

3. Uncharted 4
Uncharted 4 will blow people away. Probably Goty.

4. For Honor.
For Honor will be awesome and one of the best games in 2016 (...)

5. The last guardian won't be released in 2016
It's still a long time away...

6. Devs will adopt dx12 (PC) extremely fast, compared to dx11/10.
80% of all AAA games released during the holiday season will have dx12 support.

7. Single (300-400$) Pascal GPUs won't be enough to play games in 4k/30.
4k PC gaming is still a long way away, if you aren't willing to invest into dual GPU setups.

8. Rise of the Tomb Raider PC will outsell the Xbox ONE version.
1. Reason: It may be the first mayor DX12 release and the PC crowd is waiting eagerly to test dx12.
2. Reason: PC fanboy thinking out of my ass.

Strictly Nintendo:

2016 will be Nintendo's year.

Nintendo is going to drop the bomb with the NX and it's going to be successful.

More original IPs announced due to the success of Splatoon.

NX launches in the US in 2016.

Zelda Wii U will be the greatest game in the series since OOT, will have an NX version.

The NX will be indeed be a hybrid console that solves their output problems.

Nintendo will convince Western developers to give them another shot.

Updated Smash 4 with a few new characters for NX launch.

Backwards compat with the Wii U, on par with Xbox One power wise.

New president will be better and bolder than Iwata.

Reggie kicks more ass and takes more names for old times sake.

Bill Trinen continues to look nervous and creepy in Nintendo Directs.

- Demon's Souls Remaster for PS4, coming 2016.

- The Last Guardian will feel to archaic

- Mass Effect: Andromeda and Horizon: Zero Dawn, both early 2017 games

- People will be disappointed by the new God of War reveal trailer

The division will flop, but will be expected.

FF15 will flop, but this is not expected. Will be the biggest flop of 2016.

Or alternatively,

The biggest delay of 2016.
It will be some last minute shit. One or both of these may happen for ff15.

Pso2 will come to the Americas in 2016. Might even do well if they keep the content flowing.

Mod support for fallout 4 on consoles will bring with it a huge debacle that will test the will of everyone. "With great power, comes great responsibility." It is going to be one of the biggest upsets of 2016.

SFV doesn't have the legs we hoped it would. People come rushing back to sf4.

I pray that last one doesn't happen.

Persona 5 wins game of the year.

NX launches November 2016.

Horizon: Zero Dawn gets delayed into 2017.

All VR headsets will be prices at or above $400.

Crash Bandicoot revealed at E3 2016, produced by Activision.

No Man's Sky will not be a VR title.

Next Rockstar game will be a Red Dead sequel.

Vintage 2D Sonic game returns for home consoles.

Console MOBA's will become as popular as FPS.

God of War 4 announced, Kratos in new mythology.

Sony makes a major gaming investment, similar to the Mojang purchase.

Announce it at e3 and release it during the holiday season. Just a gut feeling.

Horizon will suffer heavily from performance issues at launch and long into release tarnishing what is a fantastic game.

Uncharted 4 will be a technical masterpiece and the best overall game in the series.

Ratchet and Clank will bring out the kid in all of us and be a total blast.

The next Call of Duty will be a husk and huge disapointment compared to Black Ops III.

Tomb Raider will be saved by the PC and PS4 release, doing very well on both platforms.

Overwatch will win the MOBA FPS war.

is responsible for the well-being of this island.
1. No Man's Sky gets delayed to 2017 and eventually skips this generation, will be a PS5 launch title with PSVR2 support.

2. TLG and FFXV will actually come out in 2016.

3. NX gets revealed in Q1 with a release date set for Q4. With Mario 3D Universe as the big launch title, followed shortly by Pikmin 4.

4. Horizon: Zero Dawn gets delayed to 2017, leaving the PS4 with another exclusives free holiday season.

5. Horizon: Zero Dawn will end up being a disappointment. I'm buying it day 1 tho but I still don't trust GG.

6. PSVR games will continue to be just small weird "experiences" and tech demos.

- XCOM 2 will be a worthy successor to one of the greatest games of last generation
- Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be a worthy successor to one of the greatest games of last generation

- Mass Effect Andromeda will not be delayed and will be a worthy successor to one of the greatest games of last generation

- Dark Souls 3 is the best Dark Souls game yet.

- No Man's Sky is big for a week or two, but most people's opinion at the end of the year will be somewhere between 'eh' and 'meh'.

- NX is revealed in Q1, shown more at E3 and released in October. It turns out pretty good, Zelda NX is the big launch title (still coming to Wii U, too). Zelda's pretty good, too.
- New Platinum game announced for NX.

1.) Final Fantasy XV will be decent. Nothing ground breaking, but good. This won't matter, as its been ten years since its announcement and people still want Versus XIII anyway, but for those who can separate that, they'll enjoy it.

2.) Horizon is pushed back in the early part of the year to Q1 2017. We'll get some speech about how they're sorry and how they're doing the best job they can, but "it was necessary to deliver the quality you deserve". People will bemoan Sony not having any games again, and we'll get a new, cooler trailer at E3 featuring more story and gameplay.

3.) Mass Effect: Andromeda gets pushed back to Q1 or Q2 2017. They couldn't get Mirror's Edge out when it was supposed to be out, EA won't get this either. Some minor thing will push the game out of a key holiday spot so they'll decide to release it in Febuary or March.

4.) Injustice 2 at E3. With the last bit of support for MK X safely on its way, I expect this. Ed Boon's hyped Injustice 2 for awhile. The last one did well, so I can presume this one will only do even better. Free from the whole "end of gen" problem, Injustice 2 will get better support than the first one got.

5.) Watch_Dogs 2 at E3. People will loudly proclaim this game is crap, only for it to end up roughly as good as AC2 was, if not better. It's been in the oven a lot longer than I expected for a Ubisoft product.

6.) As a take that to someone else, Ni-Oh comes out and is a delightful game for Onimusha fans and fans of dark Japanese action games.

7.) The N-X will launch in 2016 with a line-up that's actually fairly impressive for launch and the launch window.

8.) E3 2016 will be better than 2015, but no one will want to admit it because it'll lack dream-worthy megatons. Possible NEW announcements: Titanfall 2. WB Montreal's new projects. GOW4. That Amy Hennig Star Wars project. And that's just for starters.

9.) Sleeping Dogs 2 gets announced.

10.) VR doesn't become a hit until some surprise game no one saw coming pops up.

- Kingdom Hearts 3 is a Q2 2017 game.
- Starfox Zero metacritic will be around 75.
- VR is bust, Sony even considers abandoning it. Gaf agree on something: FPS games plays great on this thing.
- Uncharted 4 will be early GOTY for most websites but controversy about "cinematic QTE" still there.
- The Legend of Zelda Wii U will be the last Wii U game ever released, september 2016.
- For Honor is surprisingly good game, earning 85 metacritic. Sells like shit.
- Next Assassin's Creed game will set in future and everyone will hate it.
- Final Fantasy XV releases in June. So-so game, 80 meta.
- To everyone's surprise, there will be no Pokémon Z, but Black and White 3 for 3ds. That'll explain why we didn't get any gen 5 mega evos.
- Final Fantasy XII Remaster is coming out for PS4/Vita. Sells much better on Vita.
- Yo-Kai Watch 3 will be the last 3DS game slated for release in early 2017
- Gravity Rush 2 on PS4 proves to be bad idea. Sells like shit. Sony still won't give up on their "Vita is ded to us" policy.
- NX Handheld is releasing september 2016. Launch titles includes Splatoon, Monster Hunter X Ultimate, Super Mario 3D World 2, Assassin's Creed, Super Mario Maker and Street Fighter V. Street Fighter V is also coming for Vita.
- NX Launch window games: Advance Wars, Bravely 3, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Soul Calibur, Tales of Berseria, and that RE Umbrella Bullshit game.
- Kid Icarus by Platinum and Metroid Prime 4 by Retro slated for 2017 for NX.
- Nintendo L (QOL) releases Christmas 2016. It's a small android tablet with buttons. Many add-ons like sleep analyzer, wiifit board, Vitality sensor. It'll come with games like Clubhouse games, Style Savvy, Brain Age, Tomodachi Life.
- Dissidia Final Fantasy will come out for both PS4 and Vita. Sells better on Vita, even in some way revives it.
- Capcom announces Monster Hunter 5 on NX, 4 Portable for PS4/Vita. This makes Vita pass 20m point.
- DMC 5 (with Dante, not Donte) is coming in 2017
- There will be lots of awesome Japanese games but western press try their best to ignore them for GOTY lists. Uncharted and Horizon will get most awards.

VR will be a fail

TLG, Horizon, Crackdown, DayZ are delayed.
Probably also Halo Wars 2, no way it's going to release in the first half, and it releasing in holiday season would be a death sentence like RotTR

Uncharted 4 will get a very high Metascore but will be disappointing

People who love exploration will love No Man's Sky, but the others won't like it

The Division will be GOTY contender, along with ZeldaU and Garden Warfare 2

Mirror's Edge will be okay (and I will still buy it dayone :( )

Titanfall 2 announced, PC-X1-PS4-NX

NX announced at E3, launch for Q1 2017. Launch 1st party titles: Splatoon (the original, not a sequel), ZeldaU, 2D Mario, Pikmin, Pokken

PS4 will reach 45 mln, maybe even 50. X1 less than 25 mln, WiiU won't even reach 15 mln before NX release

Rockstar teases the next Red Dead

New Crash Bandicoot game announced exclusively for PS4 at E3 2016

Uncharted 4 is critically acclaimed, praised by fans. A worthy send off, but majority of fans agree it doesn't surpass 2.

Mass Effect is delayed

VR will do decently, won't be a complete bomba.

NX is revealed and released in 2016. (Shocking prediction right?)

FFXV is released, considered the best non MMO in the series for quite sometime. It will also come with a demo for part 1 of FFVII Remake.

Horizon doesn't make 2016

Shuhei Yoshida is retiring and passing on the torch.

(Edit: forgot to add this one) Destiny 2 is next year's best selling game and gains back lots of trust for the long haul.

All I want to come true is for Rockstar to announce and release Red Dead 3. None of this announcing the game then waiting almost 2 years to put it out. Announce it January/Feb/March and release September/Oct/Nov.

Apart from that I think both VR and Nintendo's NX will fail miserably.

Horizon delayed to 2017.

God Of War 4 Asgard/Egypt revealed. Faces melting, minds blowing. Angrier Kratos.

Gears 4 will make me buy an Xbone. Same with Quantum Break.

The Last Guardian delayed to mid 2017.

The Order 1886 sequel revealed. RAD promises more gameplay and less BS.

Nobody will care about VR.

Cryptic trailer of new Kojima Productions project revealed. Announced for Early 2017, then gets delayed to holidays.

Nobody will care about The Division.

NX gets a new Metroid. It rules.

New Mario NX is even more mindblowing than Mario Galaxy.

NX Sega exclusives: Sonic Colors 2, Sonic Generations NX, Virtua Tennis 5 and exclusive Yakuza spin-off.

Ubisofts will stop making Ass Creeed and I will be really happy.

This is purely gut feeling with no insider knowledge.

- The NX will end up being like the N64 Mark 2--a system that both casual and core players enjoy despite some really weird design choices. It's introduced in February via a Nintendo Direct, gets a full showing at E3 and launches in September. Splatoon 2 and an up-port of Zelda U will make for a strong launch lineup.

- Uncharted 4 ends up having the same dissonance between critical praise and broader Internet ambivalence that UC3 does.

- Horizon Zero Dawn slips to 2017.

- The Division disappoints, showing neither the graphical fidelity nor the gameplay potential of the early scripted demoes at trade shows. The game still sells millions anyway. Neither the press nor the internet is surprised.

- Persona V will be a great game, but not the greatest game ever. After an initial wave of excitement at launch, an entirely irrational backlash will develop on both sides of the Pacific because it's merely a high 8/low 9 instead of a solid 10/10. The Last Guardian and FFXV will suffer a similar fate.

- Street Fighter V sales meet expectations, but is heavily lambasted by the FGC all year, with endless back and forth over whether it is a worthy successor to SFIV and constant bitching over balance issues (both real and perceived). Ultra SFIV will see a nostalgia-driven wave of posthumous support from Internet commenters who want to sound sophisticated. There will also be a backlash against '16ers that's largely driven by '09ers who got the same treatment when SFIV came out. Alex and Urien will be met with much hype and most people will end up dropping them after a couple of weeks.

- Tekken 7 will sell better than Tag 2 but nowhere near as well as 6, let alone the older PS1 entries. Tekken x Street Fighter STILL won't get a proper re-introduction next year.

- Some game I'm not thinking of right now will end up being far better than I or anyone else anticipated.

- uncharted 4 excites but ultimately doesn't go the distance to sweep GOTY awards

- a bunch of new games of all sizes announced to be developed by platinum, but worryingly they start to get unfocused in what we'll call "telltale syndrome"

- on that note, telltale's batman game is either a continuation of the lazy formula telltale have made for themselves, or a total game changer for narrative games

- kojima's project is teased but nothing concrete shown

- xbox still flags in sales, and they continue to try pandering to gamers in the same way sony does but with little success

- zelda is fresher than it has been in a long time, and heralded as a cool mix up of the formula in the same way a link between worlds was

- last guardian comes out and people who've never played a team ico game pan it for not "living up to the hype"

- sonic 25th anniversary game is kinda like generations, once again the best part of ot is the classic sections

- yakuza 0 announced for PC

- gears 4 is delayed but not until 2017

- lots of interesting indie games come out and populate non-conformist game of the year lists everywhere

- shenmue HD collection announced

10 predictions:

1. NX will be unveiled and or fully leaked. It will be a relatively underpowered handheld with a streaming box (e.g. Steam Link) that connects to your TV. The handheld is the controller, and it will (obviously) have a screen in it. The 'hook' will be that the streaming box can stream to smartphones i.e. Non-Nintendo devices. NX price will be $249.99.

2. Rockstar unveils the sequel to Red Dead Redemption. It will have the usual console exclusive content.

3. Valve unveils L4D3. It will be fully playable in VR and it will be delightfully scary.

3.5. Valve unveils Half-Life 3: Prologue, a fully playable VR experience. It will not feature Porsche.

4. PlayStation VR launches at $299.99.

4.5. Oculus Rift launches at $499.99.

5. God of War 4 announced for 2017.

6. Broken games with excessively large patches will continue to exist and get a pass due to the tired and backwards defense that consists of gems such as "get faster internet" and "If you dont want patches then go play *insert old offline console here*".

7. Xbox One Slim is unveiled. Roughly the size of a PS4.

8. Microsoft buys Tomb Raider IP and secures multiple third-party exclusives, going against the public statements they've made against third-party exclusives.

9. Crash Bandicoot returns on PS4, unveiled at E3.

10. Shower With Your Dad Simulator 2 is unveiled. Glorious in VR.

1. NX comes in weaker than the consensus expectations, with a boring gimmick, and proceeds to flop.

Everyone's down on VR?

I predict a huge success, paradigm shift, flying off the shelves for all VR headsets. Spurred on by businesses setting up VR cafes and arcades. I foresee it as a new economy in our entertainment obsessed society. Honestly, it's like the wii in that it can attract people with a new experience but it goes from waggle-like experience of phone VR up to a real high-end experience in specially-fitted arcades at the mall, with home-VR being in-between the two. And unlike the wii, we are a lot further in the digital economy with people purchasing apps constantly, nice low-priced virtual experiences.

  • Quantum Break will be amazing as expected
  • Final Fantasy XV will not be a disappointment
  • NX will be announced
  • More console exclusives will be released on PC
  • A sequel to a great JRPG will be announced
  • A console will be hacked and its games will be pirated on the internet

NX will disapoint with its graphics but bring something new for the input and maybe introduce a new standard for consoles architecture.

Uncharted 4 will be highly praised, sell a lot despite introducing absolutely zero innovations for the 4th time in a row.

VR won t take off unless Valves shows how to use it in gaming or elsewhere.

No man's sky won't live up to the hype and feel like another free MMO with nothing luch to accomplish.

The hype surrounding The Last Guardian will be unbearable and yet the game will feel dated and have not much to offer except the mysterious "poetic" feeling.

Microsoft will struggle by developing new IPs and milking its famous franchises. This will be done by buying and killing studios and taking timed exclusivity as usual without seeing the success they hope or contributing to video games evolution as a whole.

Valve will reclaim their title of best developer thanks to VR and jopefully announce a new Half-Life or a new concept like Portal.

Steam will make some effort with consumer support and protection and really become the best place to buy digital videogames for PC.

FIFA 2017 will be even further from real football, only beting on the "show" aspect and copying Premier League totally ignoring tactical aspects and the collective nature of the game adding even more scripted behaviours and making players as fast and dribble efficient as mossible. PES will be even more realistic in animations, graphics, flow, ball movement but will be as scripted and flawed as its peedecessor.

I don't expect this to happen for several years, though, if at all. At current prices, and with the dearth of compelling content to justify the cost, we're still a ways off.

The first party games from Sony that I think will be delayed into 2017 are TLG and GT Sport. Horizon will make it out by November 2016 and be Sony's big holiday 2016 game.

The new Cruis'n game I mentioned a couple months back will get released in spring 2016 into arcades, with a NX port within a year or so that also includes pixel-perfect ports of the original Cruis'n trilogy as a bonus.

Speaking of, the game that Housemarque is working on with Eugene Jarvis will be announced for a 2017 release, and Raw Thrills will publish it themselves for Steam, PSN and Xbox Live. To get through Steam Greenlight and ID@Xbox, they'll also dangle ports of H2Overdrive and Super Cars as well.

NX gets announced at E3 for a spring 2017 release, no gimmicks, power comparable with PS4, $400 launch price with a pack-in and 20 games. 10 of those games will be Nintendo published, including some stuff we haven't seen from them in a while, two from Namco, three from Sega, and the rest from EA to show they're back on speaking terms with Nintendo again.

Forza Horizon 3 will get announced at E3 and release in September, but after Forza Motorsport 6 bombed at retail, MS will give Turn 10 an extra year to make Forza 7, and Forza Horizon 3 will get an extra year of DLC as a result.

We're going to be hearing rumbles about a Gen 4 Xbox, but nothing will be confirmed so MS won't cannibalize the hand they're going to play in 2016. We're certainly going to hear something in spring 2017, though.

VR will completely underwhelm at retail. Too expensive, no true exclusive games that pop, and that Time cover story is going to be hard to shake.

Sega releases a ton of games on Steam, including Shenmue I and II.

WB Games realizes the value of the Midway Games back catalog and announces a remake of San Francisco Rush. The teaser shows a car going off a hill and staying in the air for ten seconds before landing. I promptly throw money at my computer screen.

Final Fantasy XV makes it out in 2016, Kingdom Hearts III in 2017, and FFVII Remake in 2018, all of this announced at E3.

I think that EA will try to do a 'Fallout 4' with ME:Andromeda:
Announce it at e3 and release it during the holiday season. Just a gut feeling.

Well they did give a Q4 2016 date at this year's E3, so your proposition has a pretty big chance of happening.

As someone who's tried VR, it came off as a useless gimmick. It was uncomfortable to wear and gave me a headache. Not expecting much from it

  • Japanese games will keep coming to PC, with newcomers like Yakuza, Persona, Disgaea(first one already announced), Kingdom Hearts and Digimon.

  • We will see an entirely new Valve game made with Source 2.

There will be at least 80 of the "PS4 2017 is absolutely crazy" - threads.

Horizon Zero Dawn will be delayed to 2017.

Uncharted 4 will be fucking awesome.

The Last Guardian will dissapoint.

Quantum Break will be praised for the actual game but not the live scenes.

The Division will be forgotten after a month just like Watch Dogs.
