Pro Evolution Soccer 16 will be 1080p on Xbox One

I don't think it's rendering at 90fps, it's the game logic that's 90hz.

To my understanding, KI has to perform at 90hz internally in order to send actual frame data. There would be no point in sending fake/duplicate frames, but I could be wrong.

While the game is still outputting to monitors at 60 fps, the game’s engine renders the graphics at 90 fps and then performs a “rollback” to 60 fps. This allows Killer Instinct to read controller input at a much higher rate, which makes gameplay feel smoother whether in single-player or multiplayer. The latter is the key part, combined with the netcode to enable online play.

Hopefully the 60fps doesnt take a hit....

Even though we already saw last year with Diablo 3 that MS will presure 3rd party developers to go 1080p even if it means sacrificing framerate.

But Diablo 3 performance wasn't all over the place, was it? It wasn't locked but that applies to nearly all games being 60fps this gen. Other than a few dips, what else was sacrificed?

Well, it's not wrong when the pixel ratio of 1080p is 1920x1080, and when people go purchase a 1080p HDTV, it will be 1920x1080. A lower horizontal res means the game will be horizontally upscaling because it is not 1080p. It's the 1080pr people are using as in MS and the studios can claim 1080p because they know many will assume a full 1920x1080 image when the claim is "our game is 1080p!".

It's also why when a studio says their game is 1080p on PS4 or XB1, some will ask "is it native?"

That was the resolution of e3 version. They said they were working with MS to improve it and they now managed to reach 1920x1080

My dear, It will need a decent proof to make me believe that in a few weeks period the game can push approximately 605.000 more pixels with no problem whatsoever...

Nevermind, I tweeted to Adam Bhatti and waiting patiently for his reply. If nothing comes, DF will do the job.

I played PES2015 on a friends house yesterday. What a HORRIBLE game.
Ugly as hell and the gameplay is a cluncky mess.

That's what happened with Destiny and Diablo 3, so it wouldn't be entirely shocking.

You are really mad the game got upgraded to 1080p huh?

No, not at all. I'm simply suspicious and absoluetly can't stand when companies try to make people smallow everything.

I'll be pleased if proven wrong with PES and ROTR and even Forza 6 ;-)

It's not that uncommon in programming, if you change your data structures more to the
hardware architecture you can gain some really nice speed ups.
But i think its either a combination of optimization and reduced effects
on X1 or maybe its 1080pr time will tell.

Haha holy shit you seem genuinely pissed off by this. Does it hurt you that much?

1080p is 1080p, irrespective of the horizontal resolution. The point of devs scaling horizontally is that when used it the past it has been to the benefit of image quality, calling it 1080pr makes it sound like the only reason they didnt also scale the vertical was so they could do some disingenius marketing of the game; this clearly seems to upset you.

But dont worry because the majority of the populace wont know or even care what resolution the game will be at.

Irrespective of your own personal opinion. 1080p refers to how many horizontal lines there is. Back in the day there was plasma's sold that were HDReady with a horizontal resolution of 1024 but a vertical resolution of 720p. That was perfectly acceptable as it fulfilled the technical criteria of having 720 horizontal lines.

You are doubting that Forza 6 and rotr are 1080p, ? Oh god

Principally forza

About time...

FIFA runs at 1080p@60fps on the Xbone and looks incredibly better than PES, so it really was poor optimization of the Fox Engine.

Let's just hope they didn't downgrade other parts of the game to get there.

That's great news for the 5 PES fans hoping to buy this game on release. FIFA so ahead of them, it's not even funny. I loved PES back in the days of PES 4 and 5. It was a near vertical slope downhill to bugged mediocrity from 6 onwards.

I know what 1080p refers to. I've never seen or heard of a 1080p HDTV that had a lower horz res of 1920 -- and when a game is 1080p, people expect 1920x1080. You can talk about 1024x720, 1366x768 all you want. 1080p is 1920x1080. TV makers don't really give a shit about vertical res right now anyway since 4K sure as hell isn't the vertical resolution.

One of my TVs has a panel resolution of 2560x1080p, yet is still considered a 1080p TV.

They said it's 1080pr in an interview, I'm on mobile so I can be bothered to check my post history.

Again, that was the resolution of the version they showed at E3. now they reached 1920x1080

If you don't believe you could always wait for DF confirmation

If you enjoy dull soulless gameplay FIFA is the game of choice, PES 2015 on the PS4 hands slaps FIFA gameplay wise, and I'd even say visually.

PES 2016 will improve on it even more whilst EA stagnates the FIFA series even further.

Thanks Synth. Yep he's plain wrong.

The next best thing will be that the Xbox One can have option files as well, especially with how great the kit editor is this year.

I hope you are not serious.....

Forza 6 is 1080p @60fps this has been said since day one heck, Forza 5 was 1080p.

You gotta be troll'n.

Nah, while last gen was botched, 15 was fantastic while FIFA was pretty awful... Especially that rubberband shit it pulls to make games closer.

Anyway, onto the technical side, I wonder what's been done in the engine. Those leaked Just Cause 3 slides previously had a good technical comprimise to have some of the benefits to deferred rendering with less of the drawbacks in slow memory systems. I believe Forza did something similar too. I doubt we'll get answers from Konami, but I hope someone figures it out.

I clearly wrote a horz res lower than 1920. Your monitor is 21:9 1080p. And no, I'm not wrong. Go buy a 16:9 1080p tv and tell me how many sub 1920 displays you find. I'm interested to know how many exist.

I don't see how it matters?... Either it refers to a single fixed resolution, or it doesn't... and it doesn't, just like 720p didn't.

Not sure what you are arguing about but cyberheater is correct 1080p as a standard doesnt define the vertical lines nor the aspect ratio. Not finding this make-believe TV wont concrete your point.

Its just accepted that that 1080p means 16:9 aspect ratio and so 1920 vertical lines. Its better to use the term Full HD in that specific case.

You dont believe who? Its the same guy that tweeted 1080p now.

Did read the linked comment? It's not Full HD but 1080pr. 1360x1080 expect things have changed in since last month when the interview was done which seems unlikely.

Corrected below
Not sure if serious or trolling, these days it hard to tell sometimes.

It's Genio88

Come on stop saying Fox Engine is not compatible with Xbox One architecture, the architecture is the same as PS4, the problem was just that Konami didn't care about the Xbox One version, Japanese peaple are very traditionalistic and patriotic, and always push their own console first, same does Kojima, but after a lot of complains from Xbone owners and lower sales they've decided to put a bit more effort on this version too, that's why suddenly we jump from 720p to 1080p in less than a year.

You have receipts for that right...

The guy talking in the video though is the same guy that tweeted that out. He's not always a competent PR person, but saying this now after the E3 demo was running 1080pr, would likely mean it's full 1080p.
