Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 - The Official Thread

I haven't noticed the refs being biased, just wildly inconsistent.
As for making players run forward, if you press L1 after a player passes the ball they will start a run. Pretty sure it's L1, it's the same button you would use to start a 1-2.
The thing that's really pissing me off though is the fact that when one of your players doesn't have possession, they have no idea where the ball is. They accidentally get in the way of passes constantly. It wouldn't be so bad if it made them trap the ball but instead it just bounces off them, and thanks to their terrible reactions to a loose ball it almost always goes to the opposition.

Impressions:
One of the best PES games I've played to date. Hands down the best next-gen PES. Everything loads up quick, interface is sweet. Licensed music.
2 star waay too easy for me.
Also, UEFA presentation is O_O! I was shocked to see how good it looks. I wished I could play in UEFA presentation all the time!

only a few players are unhappy at the moment. mainly due to the fact i'm rushing through the season to win the "triple trophy" :lol
btw, this is the new japan shirt which is going to be added to the game
You gotta give each player a few matches, at least. Smart management would be to use different line-ups for different competitions.

Not getting beat during the whole season? That's probably the hardest trophy IMO. Seems easy, but in all my Pro Evo playing years, I don't think I've ever had a perfect ML season. You always get a scrappy draw or something against a crappy team

I was reading earlier on the konami online portal site, and the Hong Kong and Taiwan section listed more additions in the new patch than the Japanese descriptions.
It said earlier that aside from new uniforms, there will be additional licensed CL teams added (maybe to the normal game). New player faces, updated transfers, default formation and lineup updates.
It also said that the new patch will *NOT* affect existing edit data.
The Japanese patch is as of now late from the original ETA, and the HK/Taiwanese sites have been updated to include the exact same description as the Japanese site.
Interesting, I guess they just couldn't finish it in time or they found some bugs or something.

If you want a team wide change in regarding this issue, simply using L1/R2 is not going to cut it.
In order to have players making runs when you have possession, you need to do a couple of things, most involves gameplan.
First you need to adjust the player support slider to a high setting, which means your teammates will try to get ahead of you when you have the ball. Something close to 70 or so is good, or higher if you want really aggressive runs.
Then you have to go into formation setting, and player index, and adjust the players you want to join in on the attack set to attack minded.
You should see attacking players running ahead much more aggressively once you gain possession in mid field and hold the ball for a second or two. Obviously make sure to have the offensive/defensive meter up (L2+R1) a notch else everyone will be staying back.
Now, to have Side backs run up the field. You have to do one more adjustment. Aside from setting their index to attack minded, you have to adjust the Position switch slider up as well. This needs to be set to a high value so that players with dissimilar positions will also switch positions. I found that if you don't have this set to a high value, SBs will tend to stop running when they are close to you so they do not get past you. I know that people don't understand why SBs don't make the run like in real life, but this is why. You might even think they run up too much when you have it set up properly like this.

The penalty system, holy crap what were they thinking?? Horrible.
Also, the ref is really awful, allowing the most criminal foul, and then 15 seconds later not applying the advantage rule on a silly almost nonexistent push, benefiting the infractor by stopping a dangerous counter.
That being said, I'm really enjoying this iteration of PES.
