You could see the downfall of PES when they started out taking small, but awesome, features from the PS2 games. Does anyone remember how you could change and mix different kit parts? You knew things were going downhill when they took it out the next game.

But yeah, the video shows how deep this game was.

such a small but awesome feature; although you couldn't do it for licensed kits.

That was almost machinima. The guy even edited the players out to get midgets and giants for extra lulz. It has goofy moments but the most of it is just the guy fucking around with the game. Manually controlling the goal keeper and whatnot.

Anyway, that strip selection thing made me start up PES 5, it's amazing how well this game (and the others) still holds up. Technical gibberish aside, it's still better than both FIFA and PES next-gen. The game's so awesome that you forget its problems, you don't even notice them. I won't even get into how much better everything is. Though, I will mention the awesome edit mode and how you can edit boots to make them look like this:

holy fuck I just experienced the most epic lag, granted I dont have the best line I get a steady yellow but why am I at a disadvantage against red players :(

Those are my feelings too. My only answer to that is when they went multiplat the series go down a lot imo.

Anyway, after reading a lot about pes 2010, is it true tht PES wii version is the BEST version around, if so ill probably give it a try, to bad ther isnt a demo

WE9 was when a huge step was taken forward. Stylish interface, atmosphere, advantage rule, huge list of additions.

WE10 was all that and refined even more. I think mostly the graphics got a big overhaul. It was probably the most amazing football game ever made imo.

That was the game that got a bunch of my non football friends into football games.

PES 3, or WE 7 International, was the first PES to make use of the advantage rule. Correct on everything else though.

WE 10 was a step back, IMO. They took out some features and the game is more about battling for possession in the midfield rather than attacking. Nevertheless, it's an amazing game.

Nice! I'm at 48 hours so far :p Vast majority is ML, some is my bros Be a Legend and the rest is offline matches against him.

Sorry I had to leave last night dude and couldn't play ya, like I said just msg me (same goes to anyone else in the thread, my PSN is johnny84 :)) whenever you see me online next. Although with MW2 out, my PES playtime will likely be reduced a lot for the next week or so. Always time for PES though! :D

Ah cool, you getting MW2 on PS3 then? :) My main online bud (*cough* woodsey1982 *cough* :p) didtched me buy buying the 360 version so will be nice to have a PES GAFer to play with :D

To keep this on-topic, does anyone know exactly how the in-game advertising works? During replays, I see a small advertising box on the top right of the screen and also sometimes on billboards at certain stadiums. Not always there though and my game usually locks up when players are coming out of the tunnel before a match when a new ad is being downloaded to the game :/ Anyone else have this issue?
 
I gotta say, as much as I'm enjoying PES this year, the collision detection for me is stll miles better in FIFA. It's almost non existent in PES, and while strong players can be abused in FIFA, I really miss having that physical side to the game, as there's almost no physical battles between players in PES at all.

WE 2010 Update Details

We still have no word on when the European update will hit, but forum member and good friend Roigafni has given us some more details on what the WE 2010 update included when it hit yesterday:

* The New Japan National Team kit (HOME) which debuted on 09/11/2009 (header pic)
* Updated Squad data (Please note that they may not be 100% accurate).
* Additional Teams in the UEFA Champions League Mode.
- OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS
- AC FIORENTINA
- OLYMPIACOS
- C. ATLETICO MADRID
* Changes to the appearances of certain players.

Also, there’s some more information on how the roster update will effect option files:

Please be noticed that some saved data/ customized edit data will be reset back to default value after the download content installation.
・Player Data = Remain no change
・Team Data = Remain no change
・Player Registration Data = Change back to default value
・Formation Data = Change back to default value

The registration data going back to default could cause a huge problem with certain option files that have created new teams (think Bundesliga), so we wait with some concern to see how it will effect everyones OF once released.

More news when we have it.

They didn't revert my edited stuff back to normal, that's not what I'm pissed off about. I'm pissed because these CL teams are just teams that are already in the game, but were added to the CL mode, which you could change yourself anyway, so it's useless. I want new licensed teams, not this bullshit.

2 seasons on the Master League and i have yet to be conceded a PK... Even crazy obvious tackles are ignored by the ref.
Top Player doesnt mean you have to make the game unfair Konami!!
 
how do i get in a competition?

i've seen that we have a schedule, and then a that exact time, we have to go to ''enter competition'' and try to get in, but..

come on.. as soon as i do that, it says it's full , 300/300

were there really 300 guys getting in before me?

i was super fast ... am i doing something wrong? any tips?

Yeah, I'm starting to think the ref is screwed up as well.

I really hope the reason why a patch is not out yet is because they are going to implement some drastic gameplay fixes.
 
got the 10 years master league trophy! my next goal is the 5 freekick goals trophy. do you know if the game also counts freekicks which were scored during a friendly match against a friend?

10 ML seasons already?! :O That's dedication! I'm still in my 3rd, thinking of putting it down to 3*** difficulty as I just can't score with the default ML team on 4****. I always start PES games on 3*** anyway.

Also, as you've probably noticed now that you're on my friends list, MW2 has taken over my PES time quite a bit. I'd say I should be back to regular PES soon enough :)

same here. it seems like the multiplayer mode finally caught me. normally i'm not really into these things but this time it's pretty awesome.

btw, have already played some online matches in PES 2010, jaotaku? i just don't get the feeling :(

LOL, you should just learn how to tackle/slide instead, the refs are cool as beans.

Drastic as in add in all the stuff they took out from the older PES games and not just a patch to add some new kits and teams. The core gameplay is fine as it is, in fact better than ever. Not sure what you are trying to infer to.

Point in question, ref should either stop the play and give warning even if no card is given, or be like the older PES where you see some indication that the ref is letting play continue. Right now I just go into a state of confusion as to what is going on when I'm taken down. (Interestingly, this is the kind of reaction that happens in a real match). They should even have the player stay on the ground or something, or complaining to the ref instead of acting like nothing happened. I don't want the ref to stop play on every little bump, but just give me some variation. Most of this was in the previous games, why are they not in 2010?

Now that my play time is crossing over the 50 hours mark, I still do not experience any 2 second input lag as you posted previously, there is no fixing that needs to be done. I just want them to add more gameplay features to the game.

Maybe someone is just bitter here?
 
True that they need to bring back the "play-on" icon. It was really helpful and it's become even more of a necessity now because you never know if the refs using the advantage rule or not.

So I suppose this is the update before the real update...?

It seems like the real update will come through the game itself instead of through PSN.
Or maybe its just going to be some more license updates....

they did the same last year as well. why the fuck shall i download the patch two fucking times? konami needs some western programmers for their fucking online service.
