1. There is not one good scientific study to prove that saturated fats are bad for you. If you cut back on fats you are more likely to gain weight than lose it.

''Saturated fatty acids — Saturated fat, derived chiefly from animal products, raises the total serum cholesterol. There is a continuous, graded relationship between the total serum cholesterol concentration and coronary heart disease events and mortality (show figure 2) [40,41]. Two large cohort studies also found a small positive association between the intake of saturated fat and the incidence of coronary heart disease; for each 5 percent increment of energy, there was a multivariate relative risk of 1.17 among women (95 percent confidence interval 0.97 to 1.41) and 1.12 among men (95 percent confidence interval 0.97 to 1.28) [5,42].

Saturated fatty acids with carbon chain lengths of 14 (myristic) and 16 (palmitic), chiefly found in dairy products and red meats, appear most potent in increasing the serum cholesterol. Stearic acid (18 carbons), another component of beef and the chief fatty acid of cocoa butter, is relatively less cholesterolemic.

A reduction in dietary saturated fat can reduce the total and LDL-cholesterol concentration and perhaps prevent coronary heart disease [6] and cancers of the prostate and colon [43]. However, both HDL- and LDL-cholesterol may be reduced if saturated fats are replaced by carbohydrates [26]. Less reduction in HDL-cholesterol is apparent if saturated fats are replaced by unsaturated fats [44].''

While its true that there hasnt been a "scientific experiement" the problem is they can't ethically do one as you aren't allowed to controls a persons diet in order to possibly cause harm. While they can use correlational studies but those don't prove causation.

so while its true the lay media cries that saturated fats (and fats in general) are the devil and there affect is overblown its pretty misleading to say there are no studies showing a connection between saturated fat consumption and cardiovascular disease. last semester I had to read two articles on how its not the amount of fat but the type that causes most of the humans problems one from the lancet and one from the NEJM (pretty reputable i would say)

and about the second aprt of your statement

''Food choices in individuals following a low-fat diet — The message to reduce fat in the United States has been translated by food manufacturers and consumers into a potentially harmful set of food choices. Instead of replacing high-fat foods with naturally low-fat foods with other benefits, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grain foods, consumers have often increased their consumption of low-fat or "fat-free" varieties of naturally high-fat foods, such as fat-free snack foods [25]. The result is an increase in refined carbohydrates, lower HDL-cholesterol concentrations [26], a possible increase in the incidence of type 2 diabetes [27,28] and obesity [29], and failure to gain the benefits of more healthful alternatives.''

This one goes out mostly to the females, or people in relationships...

For the love of God just say what's wrong!!!!

No matter who you're talking to, no matter how little/big the problem is, just SAY IT.
Not talking about a problem, and letting it grow, just makes things worse.

Stop the problem early and at the source, and then move on.

Almost everything you've ever been told about fitness and nutrition are less than accurate.

1. There is not one good scientific study to prove that saturated fats are bad for you. If you cut back on fats you are more likely to gain weight than lose it.

2. Machines are always less efficient than free weights.

3. You cannot spot reduce fat; sit ups will not help you lose your love handles.

4. Swiss balls will do little to strengthen your core and much to make you look stupid.

5. Everyone should squat heavy, below parallel, and often.

this, specially the squat part. DO THEM!

Instead of ironing your shirts, try hanging them in the bathroom when you take a shower. The steam will help loosen the wrinkles. When you get out give the shirt a few tugs and most of the wrinkles will go away. It works best on polo shirts, not so well on dress shirts. Does save plenty of time though for those lazy mornings before work.

Buttchin, It's hard for me to make a judgment on the validity of those studies and if the small correlation is even worth considering. My claims are based partly on research by Ronald Krauss, who discovered the different types of LDL cholesterol and their effects on cardiovascular disease. Saturated fats raise the arguably harmless form of LDL cholesterol, not the small, dense, dangerous forms. Those are raised by a proccess that starts with carbohydrate intake.

The simple explanation is we know surprisingly little about the science of nutrition.

Most of my claims are based on what I have read in chapter nine of Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes.

Here is one of Krouss first papers http://www.jlr.org/cgi/content/abstract/23/1/97

Oooh, I'll give that a try.

It should save electricity too.
Irons use more electricity than most other things in your house.

Yeah, I keep finding that in my searches, but it's not the one I'm looking for. Still great though! Thanks.

The one I'm looking for just had postings that were emailed in from various people. I believe the author had either written a similar book or was planning to turn all of the tips into a book. Oh well, maybe it's in the bookmarks on my old computer.

Here is how to cure a brain freeze. But your tongue to the roof of your mouth and and press gently. Soon your brain freeze will be gone. If your tongue is cold as well use your thumb. Brain freeze is where the roof of the mouth gets too cold and causes the nerves to send out pain signals. Warming the roof up will stop the pain signals.
Someone told me to do this same thing for headaches. I thought it was stupid until it worked.

I usually iron my dress shirts a bit, not too thoroughly, then hang them in the shower to get the last wrinkles out, works like a charm.

Also, Downy Wrinkle Releaser spray works as advertised. Just spray and shake the wrinkles out, then hang out your clothes for the morning. I haven't had to use an iron in over a year.

How to speed up menus so that you don't have to wait a couple seconds or click in order to navigate them. It's one of those things you'll hate having to wait for once you get used to it.

1. Start Regedit. (Click on Run in the start menu, then type "regedit" without the quotes and hit enter)
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
3. Select MenuShowDelay from the list on the right.
4. Right on it and select Modify.
5. Change the value to only 150, its the perfect speed setting so menus appear quick, but not to quick so that the un-wanted ones appear.
6. Reboot your computer.

Dude... hold up there buddy.

Saturated fat has been shown to actually be helpful for older people. Saturated fat oxidizes the slowest and so is the least likely to become a problem in that way. There was a recent study that showed this. It is actually safest to fry with high-saturated fats because they don't oxidize nearly as much when heated. When cooking with vegetable fats make sure you don't heat it too much because you will oxidize the shit out of them.

Umm, basically people are fat because they switched from eating fats to eating carbohydrates, especially refined kinds. These foods in turn increase insulin levels which in turn make you fat.

Insulin makes you fat. It has been shown in every controlled study in this regard that insulin causes weight gain. Eating carbs, especially refined carbs, increases insulin levels.

Eating fats does not cause weight gain. Cholesterol measures tell you nothing if they don't compare total to triglycerides, LDL, VLDL, and HDL levels. Low cholesterol can cause poor mood, and also since cholesterol is a major substance used to create cell walls and shit... why would you want low cholesterol? Just lower the bad kind that can get stuck in your arteries and you're solid.

And triglyceride levels are pretty decently correlated with insulin levels. HDL is found to increase on a higher fat diet while LDL decreases. If you are on a low-fat diet you have to be on a starvation diet just to keep yourself from gaining weight. Totally backwards. You have to do this just to keep your insulin levels low. But then you aren't eating enough nutrients to be a healthy person. A lot of vitamins are only digested well if they are eaten in food as there is a synergy between the nutrients that aids in the absorbtion process. For instance calcium will not help you if you do not digest it with fats. It simply will not be digested correctly. For this reason skim milk is actually not healthy. Also why vitamins have absurd percentages for daily intake. It's because your body finds it so hard to digest it all since it is not in the right context.

If you're going to be stupid, be smart about it.

You had some good points on slanging, like not bringing attention to yourself, but Biggie summed it up the best.

The 10 Crack Commandments- Notorious B.I.G.

I been in this game for years, it made me a animal
There's rules to this shit, I wrote me a manual
A step by step booklet for you to get
your game on track, not your wig pushed back

Rule nombre uno: never let no one know
how much, dough you hold, cause you know
The cheddar breed jealousy 'specially
if that man fucked up, get your ass stuck up

Number two: never let em know your next move
Don't you know Bad Boys move in silence or violence
Take it from your highness (uh-huh)
I done squeezed mad clips at these cats for they bricks and chips

Number three: never trust no-bo-dy
Your moms'll set that ass up, properly gassed up
Hoodie to mask up, shit, for that fast buck
she be layin in the bushes to light that ass up

Number four: know you heard this before
Never get high, on your own supply

Number five: never sell no crack where you rest at
I don't care if they want a ounce, tell em bounce

Number six: that god damn credit, dead it
You think a crackhead payin you back, shit forget it

Seven: this rule is so underrated
Keep your family and business completely seperated
Money and blood don't mix like two dicks and no bitch
Find yourself in serious shit

Number eight: never keep no weight on you
Them cats that squeeze your guns can hold jobs too

Number nine shoulda been number one to me
If you ain't gettin bags stay the fuck from police (uh-huh)
If niggaz think you snitchin ain't tryin listen
They be sittin in your kitchen, waitin to start hittin

Number ten: a strong word called consignment
Strictly for live men, not for freshmen
If you ain't got the clientele say hell no
Cause they gon want they money rain sleet hail snow
Follow these rules you'll have mad bread to break up
If not, twenty-four years, on the wake up

It's such a shame dude lived so short. Was the best(and still is) in the rap game, bar none.

I think we can all agree that a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in fat is generally the best way to go. You should also exercise at least twice a week and it is generally better for your metabolism to eat healthy snacks all day instead of 3 big meals.

If you can do at least that much then there is no point in obsessing over the details. You should be fine as long as you're not drinking butter.

It affects the way you sit which can pinch nerves and mess up your alignment back there.

More than that. There is a chance that the wallet will pop out without you knowing, or someone could steal it VERY easily. You don't have eyes in the back of your head.

Carry it in your front pocket, or do what many guys do nowadays, wear a sling bag, and put your wallet in there (along with your handheld gadgets and books)

PROTIP: Carrying a sling bag will free up your pockets, and you won't have nasty looking bulges in your jeans. You also don't have to fumble with finding pockets for all your things. Get a stylin' sling bag to match your clothes. Women are smart to carry purses.

Then we start loading all sorts of useless shit in there, and it gets incredibly heavy. Thus, messing up alignment anyway.

Right now, I have 15 pens, two highlighters, a wine opener (all for 1 job), a name tag for my other job, a Bounce lint roller (with good smellingness built in!), hand sanitizer, lotion hand sanitizer, 2 lip glosses, a lip balm, a huge wallet with $15 in change, an even larger make-up bag filled with 4 things I actually use but many more cosmetics I don't even use, cell phone, receipts, our menu for Thanksgiving, etc. etc.

Unnecessary bullshit!

And use icky, greasy cocoa butter rather than lotion. I'll go through 4 tubs during the summer. It's so moisturizing and soothing, but fuck it's greasy. Smells good though.

All I have in mine is my wallet, my keys, change, my cell phone, and my DS. It also has a flat pocket, so I put my loose paper there, along with a pen.

You sir, have TOO much stuff in your bag.

This is the size of bag that I have. It's just a small shoulder sling

A couple from the financial side:

- Save up six months of expenses and keep the money liquid.

- Stay on top of your credit.

Do these two things and you will save yourself thousands of dollars over the course of your life as well as a ton of stress.

-Every woman has diamonds, buy your lady rubies.
-Sleep is the enemy. (in unreasonable amounts)
-Don't get high from cough syrup or other household products.
-Don't manage relationships on Facebook (or through the web at all). Be a man, talk face to face.
-Cut your cable, buy/rent seasons of shows you really like, unless you have a small fortune to spend on DVDs, you'll cut down on TV watching alot, and see more of what you like.
-Same goes for every subscription you can cut down on.
-Don't buy things with money you don't have.
-Start memorizing something. Poetry, phone numbers, passages from religious book of choice, you'll be amazed how much better you memory gets in relatively little time.
-As said before, never start smoking. Sure, you'll just try it once.
-Develop fine taste in things, but when you're around "uncultured" people, don't flaunt your knowledge/criticize their lack of choosiness. Seriously, they won't know who Fellini is.
-Don't spit into the wind.
-Don't tug on superman's cape.
-Don't mess around with Jim.

Purchases
You almost always get what you pay for. Buy high quality goods and services and expect more. Don't be cheap on tools, electronics, or clothes. At the same time, most of the same products have a pinnacle on which more expensive versions are only marginally better.

Buying a Car
Cars in general are awful investments and never gain value.
Don't get the undercoating, schmuck.
Leasing is bad.

Buying a Computer
There's never a good time to buy a computer. It's already old and has just lost half its value.
