please be rated R :'(

I thought it was confirmed PG13 cause of Fox?

oh, thanks for the clarification. Could be a simple case of unfinished effects on the theatrical version, then?

I think that trailers are also rated, they aimed for an "all audiences" trailer so... blue blood.

Yes, The MPAA is the most stupid institution in existence.

Seriously, the R rating needs to be divided in two, as is the case in most countries. There's a huge gap between the very restrictive PG-13 rating, and the more or less unrestricted R rating.

This movie seriously looks stunning. When they first announced it would have little to nothing to do with Alien I was disappointed. After seeing this I am extremely hyped, my god it looks fantastic.

So the blue blood one is from the US trailer? Meh. As others have said I hope they only edited it for the trailer. Another thing I noticed was the jumping dude was on fire in the international trailer and wasn't in the US one.

This.

It's actually a fairly serious issue. The MPAA's archaic ratings system is ruining our cultural heritage. This is going to come back to haunt us in a few decades.

Thanks! That makes sense.

I don't think there's been official confirmation yet. But it'll more than likely be rated PG13, yes.

Scott and Lindelof touched on the rating at WonderCon with a brief chat with AICN. Short answer, nobody really knows:

Beaks: I have to ask about the rating. Has that been resolved yet? R or PG-13?

Scott: It will be what it is. At the end of the day, you've got to go for the best movie - and that comes from Tom Rothman basically.

Lindelof: You directed the movie that you wanted to direct though.

Scott: Yeah, yeah. Of course, you go for as stringent as possible. But at the end of the day, it's a pretty good relationship with me and Tom.

LOL I think the US trailer portion that shows Prometheus flying backwards after Charlize says "take us home" is just the landing scene from the UK one reversed.

I thought it looked funny every time I saw it.

How about PG-17? You aren't "restricted" from seeing it without a parent like "R", but parents are encouraged to keep you away...

I haven't been following this movie at all. I just watched the trailer for the first time and it looks pretty good, but I'm really not getting the hype a lot of people seem to have. Then again, I thought the Alien movies were just alright, and nothing that special.

You just explained it then. Alien fans will take the most out of the movie information at this point.

I think Saldana's performance was pretty incredible (which surprised me after Star Trek), but I don't see her character as being all that strong. She's very much inline with Mary McDonnell's character in Dances With Wolves, just the love interest, forced to spend time with the outsider, leading to a romance. Neytiri's role at the most is a support for Sully. The only time she's at all provocative is when protecting him after he gets pulled out.

She's great, but really not an empowered female role to me.

Jake: Fall back! Neytiri, do you read me? Fall back, now! Get out of there!
*Neytiri starts drawing her bow up anyway*

I love the Ripley-style panties shes wearing.

Ha, I didn't notice that till you posted it.

Rothman can go suck a dick. Ridley better release his version on Blu-Ray, uncut and unspoiled by Fox. I will watch it in theaters, but when I bring it home, I want Rothman to stay far away from it.

Lindelof is one of the co creators of LOST which despite the lackluster final season was a pretty great show. He was also involved with the Star Trek reboot and his comics (Ultimate Hulk vs Wolverine) was good as well. I think he is an asset to the crew making this film.

If you thought Alien/Aliens was just alright (especially Alien) then this won't excite you as much.

While we're on this debate about heroines. What about animated choices, namely Miyazaki's work. I'd stick Nausicaa, and Chihiro/Sen up there for sure.

AVP is to be disregarded. Everyone involved with Prometheus has stated that the AVP films should not be considered cannon.

That's the way it should stay. To me Alien and Aliens are cannon. Totally forgot about the others and I never want to watch them again either.

AVP is the only film beyond the first written by the first writer ironically.

EDIT: I watched the bluray's of Alien and Aliens today. With Alien specifically, I'm very impressed with the transfer, really beautiful. That film, even visually, holds up remarkably well.

I just watched all four of the Alien films again. Man, the drop off in quality after Aliens is so dramatic. With that said, Alien 3 isnt that bad, but 4 is one of the worst movies I have I have seen this year(First time seeing it was this week).
